  1. I think that is Dimitri Portelli the AC in the back of the scene there hoisting the Backpack. i heard he was in the UK....
  2. Funny enough we have been using an Itv capture card on a f35 show. it works great off of the RF , but the direct signal form the on board downconvertor or the decimater does not register . the signal form the tap on our 435 arri works fine. what is it about downconverted signals that drives some video nuts. I used to notice occasional issues with downconverted signals and my TB-6 , neccessitating additional termination to get the signal to be stable.
  3. Is waiting on a show to start.

  4. I would tend to agree that the name is confusing with a few other products. I know that Peter Abraham kind of dubbed the in between Don Juan and missionary operating position the Tango and I suspect that the name came from there. So other manufacturers sled adaptability? Will there be an after market PRO interface? Other sleds? Or will will this be a Tiffen only item? From the arm forward? Price-point?, can i use my new 8G transvideo hd monitor on this device? Compatibility will breed sales. In a market where I know I myself, am under increasing pressure to deal lower and lower on the gear rental, new acquisitions are a hard choice as to whether they will generate income or just be a curiosity. I recently lost a three week contract after my low bid was underbid by less than half, and more and more productions start their solicitation call with, "its a low budget film", "we really want"..., and more often than not there is some old gear that fits their budget, not my mega package. I was having drinks with the local Technocrane op and producers are demanding elaborate lists of the package and go through it censuring individual items trying to leave out a cable or a battery or a BRACKET to lower the rental. I feel like i am in the Bazzaar in Merakesh. But I LOVE the idea.
  5. You can always go two piece and power the camera directly from its on-board adapter, which will run off of one battery itself or through a 4 pin XLR input. Its the deck that sends the power draw way up.
  6. P.S. Was at a buddy's Army surplus store here and he had a great price on Pelican 1630 cases, new, which is plenty big enough for the harness, arm, and a few smaller pelicans if you like. $249.99 CAD. Armyissue.com. Ask for Jerune Vrakking.
  7. I use a surplus military Barracks box, its very light, has a lock, and is pretty robust, so you get a few more pounds of allowable weight in the capacity. I got mine from my Ex- wife's dad who was in the Canadian military, but i am sure they are at surplus stores...The harness fits, i take off the arm ,and front plate ( i have the four strap model )and there is room for the arm and hardmount, and anything else up to the shipping limit. Which is 45 lbs for a single and 70 lbs for a double sized. ( I think).....
  8. Yes, I take the arm off and put it in there with the vest. Fits right in without the foam. Walter made my backpiece very high since I am tall. So I guess others in regular shapes should fit, too.
  9. yes the vidoe output connection is quite flakey and i often get signal loss.
  10. Uh am i the only one alarmed that the wevi transmitter is located right by the cable puller/ human pack mule's head?
  11. I smoked a unit , and when talking to the technician at NAB he suggested that power on the composite video side might fry the comp side. I had the unit returned for repair and have not seen anything so i got the distrib here to front me a new one which has behaved perfectly. I know of three units on a reality shoot and they also have performed perfectly. Brad.
  12. [Funny enough I have found the preston to be more power tolerant than the Bartech, i've even had jobs where the preston warning light flashed all day and we still had perfect control. Try using a d tap straight to the battery, usuelaly there is one or two p- taps on the mount, or see if the rental house has a 4 pin XLR to P tap adapter. I got kind of frustrated and made a sled power to p tap and XLR adapter box for my rig to alleviate these 'where do i plug this in ?'questions... BH
  13. This one for Beduin Soundclash was a challenge too, the band is static, but the set and extras change around them... the "stagehands" are part of the concept. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lriwABqBNDA BH
  14. All I know is I had the wevi on a Red job yesterday and everytimne I shouldered the rig, I could hear Elvis Presley..... BTW has anyone tested the WEVI for emf and what its doing to our heads? Is it like 10 cell phones worth of microwaves or what is going on? Some here have expressed real concern. BH
  15. yes thats me. It was a day of rehearsing with a handycam figuring out what we could accomplish with the costume and position changes while moving the entire staff around the band in 360 degree environment. Director Frank Borin (green shirt) is watching the clamshell and the crew for when I am 'clear' to move to the next vignette, lots of dropped hats and drumsticks and whatnot trying to get it all to happen. I think I rigged a double 9" kino flow off of my back with the pot controls accessible so gaffer Joe Pauls could bring the light up when we got down stairs and blend into the heavier stage lighting. DOP Samy Ineya was on a second preston system controlling a short Optimo zoom for framing variances, hidden upstairs beside the documetary camera. The every amazing Alex Gomez on focus and smooth hand Grip Alistaire Foster completed our little tech gang, plus wardrobe and and all moving in a little amoeba blob staying just out of frame... or sometimes Not! LOL! Thank you for the nice compliments, it is a pleasure to have your work admired by such an excellent bunch of professionals. BH ;)
  16. For those that are wondering, Michael is one of my best assitants here in Toronto, a real stand up guy. Brad Hruboska.

  19. hmmm haven't seen the Beatles musical yet... Where is the rally point at the NAB, the Tiffen Booth?
  20. Oh my god thats my old model 2/3 arm in the picture LOL! Hey thats a Bob Crone original, steeped in Steadicam history. I wondered what you did with that arm.
  21. I remeber meeting Greg in 2003, where he gave me demo and just asked for a cheque if i decided to keep it. Needless to say, the cheque went out in about 2 days. On a serious note however, i have noticed a bit of distention in the socket hole and it is now coming out of round. Anyone have any experiences with this issue. So far performance is still ok. But i am thinnking i should restore the original pro handle and have him look at it...... See you at NAB. still booked and the work bookings are not yet interferring......
