  1. You are right. That clip does not have any real plot. Actually it is kinda boring. But my first reaction was: "Hey! They are filming with an EOS. And it looks quite nice!" First, I thaught they just do it just for fun, but it appears that they are some sort of indy filmmakers.
  2. You're right. And try to explain someone at the airport what a "Steadicam arm" is. (...I had that problem in Canada)
  3. Hi Mike, oh I see. It is a pretty good idea with the gyro, although I am not a big fan of gyros... But I have to say, it is a funny idea with the Canon. (I guess I have to try it! ) Cheers Henry
  4. Now that's funny! Filming with it is one thing, but to put it on a Steadicam! hehe! But what about the weight of the camera? Our PRO Arm can carry everything up from 13 pounds. But the Canon is much lighter. How did you handle that? Henry
  5. So... If you want to make a movie, you usually use HD,35mm,16mm cams. Those guys here used a Canon EOS 5D Mark II Still Photograph camera! I wanted to buy a 5D to take a couple of photos, I guess now I will have to shot clips with it! enjoy the movie! It is really awesome! :) Henry
  6. OH BOY! This is.... wow! I've never met Christian Bale neither Shane Hurlbut, but I mean they are both civilizated humans. So I mean yes... everybody makes a mistake even on a Filmset. But no need to go violent! Esp. "Violent" in the middle of tape, I think Bale tries to attack Shane! And Shane is not a... I don't know... "anybody" he is the D.O.P. so I would be very careful! Cheers Henry "never will watch a Batman Movie again" Gelhart
  7. Hello Larry, yes you are right; it is sad. Now see... he is young (so I am) and I guess he loves the job like everybody else here and he really wants to get into the business, so of course you support him and motivate him. Welcome to the modern (friendly) world, were people say "Hey new guy! Don't do it" So! Be happy and I hope your parents are feeling better! Henry
  8. Yes you're right. I had a similar situation some weeks ago. A student wanted to make a little "feature film" about the World Finance Crisis to show it at the local theater. The set was about 2 miles away and the shooting day appx. 6 hours long. Because it was the only Steadicam shot, I made it for free. I like those "producers" of local University movies, with a budget of $1000 so I support it. But $250/day for a Los Angeles Feture film! Haha I am sorry! HG
  9. Alec, thank you for your answer! You are right, maybe it is a bit foolish to say "I will buy it in September". I guess I have to leave my eyes open (esp. here in the Steadicamforum). Otherwise I will have to buy the new one, wich probably will make me happy for the next 10 years. HG (...and you're right, THEY ARE amazing!)
  10. Hi, I am thinking of geting a used Tb6 monitor. Used... yes. Because I don't really want to spend 15.000? for a new Tb6 monitor. (Sachtler sells the monitor here in Germany) I'm quite happy with my Transvideo but I'd like to get a "new" one. So I was playing with the idea of the Tb6. It is a great pice of equipment. Maybe I will buy it during the summer/autum 2009 Does anybody have the price of a used one?? Thanks and happy new year Henry
  11. Hi Manuel, I agree with Armando and Mike. You should try the gimbals. If you happen to live in CA, you can check out George Paddock Inc. and try the PRO Gimbal. It is a great pice of equipment and I really like it. (Even if I have a Sachtler Artemis Gimbal) So happy new Year! HG
  12. Hmm... it is within the USA... I would use FedEx or FedEx Ground. They are fast and the price is often ok. HEnry
  13. Sorry! Of couse I mean "Artemis" :) :) Henry
  14. Hey, primaly I use a Walter Klassen Vest for 35mm/16mm. Because I have an Artemes Sled, I also bought a ACT2 Vest with it. In my eyes it is perfect! It is very comfortable and easy to handle. I use it on TV Shows or Events etc. I really recommend it for thight spaces. I am both... pro back and pro front mounted. Because I am quite thin, I often wear the ACT2. You can't make a mistake with it! (my opinion) ;) So....... Cheers Henry
  15. I Think it fits perfectly in every (small) studio! :) Damn! How heavy is it? --Henry--
  16. Hi Louis, yes!! I really agree with Eric and Louis Castro! Do not buy that Basson "Steadicam". Just look at the arm, looks really crappy... For example, purchase an old 3A Arm, 3A Vest and an EFP sled and you are going to be fine! (It is quite a usefull rig and you can use it for some time/years.) ;) And if you'd like to spend a bit more money, try a PRO I sled/vest. Okay! have fun! Henry
  17. but at least, throw it on the ground! Ok! It was three years ago when I purchased my first Ipod. One and a half year later... hard disk crash! Okay... of course no warranty........ so what to do? Yes! Put it into the closet. And yesterday, after the whole time, I was a bit nerved because nothing was working, (girlfriends computer died etc...) so I thought "Hey repair your Ipod! But first of all throw it on the floor!" Bang!!! And now... My beloved Ipod runs and runs and runs! Awesome!! I was talking to a friend, and he told me he had the same problem a year ago. With the same Ipod. A 4G (with the Black/White display) Henry
  18. Yes. I think I would be dead at the end of the day! He should wear a Walter Klassen Vest. I've tried a 3D Cam (IMAX stuff) with a Ultra2 Vest... No way!! And it was just for about 5min...
  19. Looks awsome. But it is a bit confusing... the good old XCS Sled with a LCD Monitor... I mean... Somehow I really love their TB6 monitor! (HA! I will buy that sled, get rid of the lcd monitor and install my beloved TB6... yea). :P Ps... What about the price of that baby? Is it already known or not? Henry
  20. Hi John, you can't really say what the better purchase is. You have to make the decision. Try them! And finally compare them. But to give you a little "jump-start", the Sony DSR 370 is a "quite big camera", at least bigger than the Canon HVX-200 or so, wich is perfect for the Steadicam Flyer. The advantage of the Glidecam V25 is, that it can carry quite heavy cameras (like your Sony). I tried the Steadicam Flyer a year ago and I was really happy about it! Very smooth gimbal, the arm had a very good boomrange and the weight was very comfortalbe to carry. In my eyes the Glidecam looks a bit "heavy". Okay! Try them both and make a decision! :) Cheers Henry
  21. I can't either and this seems to be a recurring problem that lots of people on the forum have. ~Jess i've got the same problem... are you guys using Safari 3.1.2? Jepp! I use Safari 3.1.2... same problem.
  22. Hey, I've found a Steadicam Merlin copy on ebay. Looks similar... And it is not the only one, there are several! http://cgi.ebay.com/Camcorder-Camera-Stabi...1QQcmdZViewItem (Im my eyes it looks ridiculous !) Henry
  23. Hi, if you don't want to operate barefoot but want to keep the original "barefoot feeling" you have to try the Converse All Stars (or Chucks). I often wear them while operating. They are not really expecive and they have a slim sole so you can perfectly feel the ground. Try them! ;) (But I would not use them in a forest or at the beach) Henry
  24. D'OH, I forgot, does anybody might know the price? Henry
  25. Hey, I am looking for an old "granfather" Steadicam wich was built in the 80's. I want to use it as a backup system and as a test object if I don't want to ruin my PRO... ;) The Steadicam I like to know about is one of the first model. (With the black/silver arm) Thanks Henry
