  1. I simply cannot believe someone is comfortable while walking and running arround with $200,000 worth of gear.. is it even possible to get insurance for that and not paying a fortune per month / year ? I also cannot believe that someone can buy that kind of expensive stuff without blinking a eye. What kind of loans are we talking about here or did those people won the state lotery.. or did they do it the old way, start secondhand and upgrade step by step ? What are the risks especially in these times to jump into the stabilizer market with budgets like that.. I have thought about the idea to restart more seriously in the local market, The Netherlands. First, i think i know all the ops here. A simple google does the rest. Only in the Netherlands there are at least 10 serious ops with equipment of something in total of like 1.5 million euros. The AV market is ofcourse small if you compare it with the US/UK but these 10 serious ops are enough to prevent me for even thinking about to do that big jump. I´ve got about 4 requests per year for jobs which need a bigger rig then the previous Flyer (LE) and now the cute Pilot.. and even then, i pass them to the other guys. My humble advise for Benjamin: - Start with the Flyer LE - Start with the Bartech Follow Focus - Start with the Redbyte And starting working local and gain experience with nice studentfilms and corporates. Within a year of even shorter you made enough money to sell the Flyer and upgrade to a bigger rig.. If there is not enough work, you can still sell the Flyer with a couple of hunders of max a 1000 dollars less in your pocket. Just be carefull, enjoy the ride and fly save, My 2 eurocents, Erik
  2. And again at 15:53 CET today they tried to contact me again. Only by phone this time, not a email sofar.. It´s getting annoying Erik
  3. Hey Benjamin, same here.. yep.. a scam for sure. My equipment was (currently a pilot) good enough for 35mm work.. So be careful all ! Best, Erik
  4. Anyone seen this : http://www.steadimoves.com/parts.html Best, Erik
  5. Well Robin, this is exactly why i pop up this question on the board.. and you are being a bit funny which is fine ofcourse ;) But the thing is.. a lot of people have discover these problems and sometimes even directly from the factory. So there must be a general solution or general stuff you guys use.. It ´seems´ so simple question and a simple answer.... Best, Erik
  6. Well.. this forum should be informative. If you search the last couple months on arm sounds (espec the Pilot) results are for example : Thin oil by robin (customer support tiffen) very small amount of white grease by Dave (operator) conventional oil or better still silicon oil (customer support tiffen) Or even do a search the last couple of years for arm sounds: Main result is ACF-50 and NOT 123 oil or simular ! The problem here is, this is a international board with people from all over the world. What is common for UK or US residents when talking about silicon oil or ACF-50 is for them easy, they know almost exactly what you mean. For me from the Netherlands, or guys from Denmark or Germany for example this is not so common. So long story short: Pls provide us with a working internet link to a shop in the UK / US were they sell specificly the oil you are talking about. The oil that Tiffen for example is using when they get a arm in for service or repair and fix it with this specific oil from brand xxxx or brand yyyy ! I myself removed the release pin, placed it on a clean towel and used a little bit of teflon spray. This was done in september and the arm is still quiet...
  7. LOL .. well i do the same with both LANC and Broadcast controller. It´s a bit strange in the beginning but now i´m used to it.
  8. Hi William, You pointed out most likely the ´correct´ spot. In all cases it´s seems to be the spot were you can split the arm into 2 parts, the release pin ! I must admit, i´m disappointed that this seems happen to often to a lot of users including myself. Use some acf-50 on this particular spot and that sound will disappear. To be honest, í really don´t understand why all new arms, big and small are now all fitted with this release pin.. why on earth is it handy to splitting a arm in 2 when it has been more then 30 years in one piece ?? Good luck
  9. Hey Pavel, First feel very welcome to this nice community full of steadicam enthousiasts ! Second, what a cool rig indeed ! Best, Erik
  10. May be wireless from camera to receiver point and cable upstairs...? During the start of the performance i was hoping for a cool ´oner´ .. but it was cut with several camera´s. My humble opion is, it was part live and part pre-recorded. If you watch carefully the cuts, you see that the onboard camera in the train (handheld) shows left part of train.. so you don´t see the train departing the station. Some movement is seen thru the windows in the middle of the clip Music playback and sync and overall appearance is impressive. The ´steadicam´ shots a bit wild near the end... Best, Erik ps. love to hear from the guys who have done the work ;)
  11. Happened to me also. Some young camera dude used 2 or 3 shots done by me ! It was a low budget sport coverage of triathlon.. i have chased the athletes at 80% speed with the Flyer which brought us sensational shots ! I never worked before with him, in fact never since. I asked him to remove the shots, he refused as it was a cooperation between several camera operators including me. A so called TEAM effort to make something beautiful for almost nothing (money wise) Still have to kick his ass when i will physical meet him again ! Erik
  12. Hi Yiannis, Welcome on this very nice board of steady related information ! The Panasonic camcorder has a weight of 10.5 lbs which leaves you almost 9 lbs of extra payload. You don´t need a battery behind the camera, you can also remove the viewfinder. These are the 2 mainly removable weight parts. It now comes to how much of other stuff you place on the camera. Like a remote follow focus moter + receiver, like wireless microphone receivers, like which glass, Fujinon or Canon, like mattebox etc etc.. Other thing you can try is several different batteries. I mean, if you make the post longer, maybe 1 heavey battery and 1 small battery is enough to compensate.. Good luck, Best, Erik
  13. BUMP ! Asking price without all mentioned extra´s : 6500,- euro ! B)
  14. I think we can consider the Actioncam RED rig as a big rig ;) .. i cannot remember this ´over´ sensitive gimbal at the IBC last year. To me it felt like a more solid ´heavy´ rig and handling was more like a Archer in response...
  15. Hey Rick, First congrats.. ! Second, i don´t think there is much wrong here.. The travel between low and high seems (as looking at the Sled behaviour) is going fine. It looks indeed a bit nervous but ´normal´ when looking at your LIGHT setup, a really light camera and one large vmount brick below. The official weightrange for the Flyer is between 5 lbs and 19 lbs. But many Flyer operators will agree that a payload starting at 12 lbs or more, is more in the ´smooth´ range of the rig. If you try a heavier setup i think you should see a difference how the arm is handling this weight. What happens if you turn down both knobs completly ? (start with the for-arm) .. is the arm then below horizontal ? .. Your last remark is about cracking sounds.. but the youtube video is without sound. Cracking sounds is NOT good.., contact Tiffen for this ! Best, Erik ps. where did you bought the rig, fotokonijnenberg ?
  16. Interesting gimbal grip Eric.. Why do you say that? Well.. just curious, gives this more feel in the rig or does it feel more secure this way.. just wondering that's all..
  17. Interesting gimbal grip Eric.. Best, Erik

  19. Since we all see the last time 'extra's ' like in sync / simultaneously a background behind the scenes camera, i would VOTE to see something like that during John's work.. love to see that, any volunteers ? Rob maybe ? Best, Erik
