  1. Ben, Welcome on this board. Here you can find lot's of information concerning all about Stabilizing ! Have been a Magicqam user owner myself, not a super experience. Ofcourse, the fact that it is possible to achieve some nice shots, in my case.. the best was only with a maxed system, 15 or more lbs on the Rig and somehow the footsteps were not shown on the picture. With a light setup, many suggestions from example Charles Papert, some ok shots were possible but footsteps were still present, at low, very low but also on normal and some running ! At the moment that the customer support went terrible, i decided to sell the Magicqcam, look very very nice to my wife.. and invested in the Steadicam Flyer. I felt completly in love.., what a nice system and a awesome arm ! So, let's fly some time with your current Rig, and then upgrade to a better system. There are many choices out there .. Fly save, Best, Erik
  2. Hi all, Because we see a lot of questions here, which RIG is the best buy etc etc.. found the following review which gives a nice picture of the systems under the 10K dollars : Have a look at : http://www.studiodaily.com/studiomonthly/reviews/7654.html best, Erik (ok, i know, but standard 12 volt flyer is way below 10K !)
  3. Speaking of the devil : http://cgi.ebay.com/TIFFEN-STEADICAM-FLYER...1QQcmdZViewItem Just a another example.. Erik
  4. On the Tiffen site but not quit direct viewable.. : http://www.tiffen.com/merlinarmvest.html Best, Erik
  5. Seems indeed a fake or scam Ramon. Simply it is not possible for this price ! So be careful ! Also the Steadicam Flyer (with hard case + bats shown on picture with green background) is a much used scam, and the famous SK2 with a 7 inch lcd monitor on top of the green screen monitor is a scam ! Regular visitors on Ebay search for Steadicam, Steadycam + Glidecam know what I'm talking about.. So once again, be carefull guys ! Erik
  6. Robert, any idea when Tiffen will anounce this new product in the public ? Erik
  7. Cool picture Robert. How was the arm connected to the vest ? By one pin ? Monitor option at the bottom of the merlin, with the accesory plate shouldn't be a problem ? What price for a total merlin, arm, vest setup...
  8. Hi Robert, Why should you be scolded or bannished ? You are talking about a 'real' brand (Rig) But seriously.., this thing could be the new smash hit by Tiffen. Don't forget, the Merlin is a huge success ! I think it would look the same as the Steadicam DV ?? Curious about the pictures.., Best, Erik
  9. No problem Andrew, nothing better to do at the moment. :P I have tried the Artemis DV Pro.., it is a nice Rig, capable of almost the same weights as the Glidecam V25. It is also weird to see here a backmounted vest. I'm only used to use a frontmounted, so it was a strange feeling when I operated it for about 15 minutes. The arm/vest connection is not quit ok, it is to far at the back but I did not tried this by myself, had a little help from a Sachtler guy. The arm is stiff, I think it would work smoother when a heavy load is used. I flown the Rig with the JVC GY-HD100 + some extra weights, mattebox and remote focus. Also you need a T-Wrench to adjust the arm. The Sled is very very nice, for me as owner of the Flyer, this kind of Sled should be standard within the Flyer package  Is has some extra dynamic balance adjustments comparing to the Flyer Sled, HD/SDI possible and 24 Volt option for just a little extra. Put maybe the following combination is nice ? - Glidecam V25 Vest - Glidecam V25 Arm - Artemis DV Pro Sled Just a idea.. Best, Erik
  10. Just as Matt mentioned, there are some nice introduction workshops in Europe, for example 3 day courses : Tiffen Europe (location UK, price approx 800 euros i think ex travel & accomodation) Sachtler Germany (location Munchen, price approx 590 euros ex travel & accomodation) Glidecam Netherlands (location ?, price approx 500 euros ex travel & accomodation) 2 day courses : In US: Peter Abraham, Steadicamworkshops.. One RIG only, the Steadicam Flyer. (location several US, New York etc.. price approx 500 dollars ex travel & accomodation) Tip : check the websites from all brands, they all have advertismentes about workshops + http://www.steadicam-ops.com Best, Erik
  11. Hi Andrew, Many here would say.., search the archives ! But they also would warn you, don't go the Basson way. It is flushing your money into the toilet. Some are ok, but only when the owner did some heavy modify at the Rig. The Basson is not better then your Smooth Shooter, it can only lift more weight. There are several brands out there which are as good as the Tiffen Steadicam (some would say maybe even better  ) But brands as MK-V, PRO, Glidecam are some great examples. For you but still some above the 5000 dollars you mentioned, the Steadicam Flyer or the Glidecam V25 are nice upgrades. The Flyer is at the moment arround 6500 dollars at Tiffen : http://www.steadicam.com/steadiUsed.html You can sell your Glidecam, but if I was you.. i would keep that Rig as a nice litle backup unit. Best, Erik
  12. That seems sofar not possible. There are lot of guys (including me) who like this Rig with 24V but without the monitor. At the moment TIFFEN has a demo/secondhand on their website. Some 24V flyers with some 2 or 3000 dollar discount. Take a look at : http://www.steadicam.com/steadiUsed.html Besides this there are ofcourse some other options. You can also upgrade at a later stage, or buy a another Sled like MK-V. I myself still looking for a second sled. Thinking about a Sachtler DV Rig Pro Sled. It cost in EUR about 4500 ex taxes.., but then it includes 24V and HD/SDI thru the Sled. I'm only not sure if a situation like the Arri 235 Camera on the Sachtler Sled + the Sled weight will remain within the total weight the Flyer Arm can handle.. Also have looked at the Marelll 12/24 power converter. Marell responded via email that they are worried about to many amps thru the wires of the Flyer Sled.., wires could be fried ! Best, Erik
  13. Hey Kip, When you start to put the Reel together, maybe start then with the Titel (your name ofcourse) and add then your photo with the Flyer in combi with the Arri !. It is a COOL photo ! Best, Erik
  14. Congratulations Jurgen !.. Nice, very nice.. Some credits on IMDB would be also nice. Best, Erik
  15. Andrew, John is offering you a very complete Flyer kit. Extra's comparing to Factory are : - Low mode kit - Battery charger with NICE batteries - Pelican case - Steadicam Shot Bag - Steadicam Tool Pouch So a very nice Rig to have. I still have to order the low mode kit for example.., for me arround 1000 us dollars to get it to the Netherlands with taxes etc etc Erik
  16. I hope Dan did got a fair rate, it seems he did the job.. Best, Erik
  17. I think they should hire a booth at NAB and IBC.. :D Best, Erik
  18. Wow, the hair... ? Ofcourse, but WOW what a shot !!! Unbelieveable nice done ! Erik
  19. I wonder when Tiffen will decide to update the Archer from the Factory with switchable 12/24 volt ? After some years they did decide to modify the Flyer with a 24 volt option + hd monitor on it.., or was this just to tease us to use/buy the Flyer24 with the Arri 235 ? Erik
  20. I really like above idea. A standard price for your equipment and some kind of personal price on experience.. Best, Erik
  21. And do you all know what the best part is.... ? You can hire him accross the Globe (BOOKING WORLD WIDE) :P Because i did use that particular rig (ofcourse setup correctly !) i send him a email with some subtle suggestions.. Erik
  22. On the website there is some footage which seems to be the MOVCAM rig(s).. Erik
  23. Hi Jason, how are you ?? Can you explain how you powered the transmitter from the Sled ? They don't seems to sell a matching cable for the flyer. Power out on the Flyer is a 2 pin Lemo. Don't know if the power out connector on the Master Rig is also 2 pin lemo ? Hope to hear, Best, Erik
  24. Hi Chris, Yep, nice idea.., next week but have to check the agenda overhere.. I will PM you.. Best, Erik
  25. Sorry CP. The only clip I see is the 'Malibu 2005 steadicam workshop which is an animation clip. Nothing else. I went strainght to the clips on the first page. The other clis are clips of the different rigs. :( A direct link maybe CP or anyone else?? Charles K, http://www.garrettbrown.com/stream/garrettdocument_256k.ram It is under SuperFlyCam and above Skycam- and the World of Tomorrow Best, Erik
