Who is the OP on all the A1 Grandprix's ? As far as I know, Steadicam is present on all race events sofar. Even during the pitstops nice operating is done.. Erik

Hi Geoff, I have flown the Viper in 2005 on mine Rig. It wasn't easy task because they had connected me with two coax cables to transfer the HD signal to the OBV. In the Netherlands the Grass Valley harddisk or Grass Valley? Venom FlashPak was not present at that moment.. It should be a nice package, specially designed for example Steadicam use. The bad thing is.., it can only hold about 10 minutes HD filmstream. Now you see Matt.. you have indeed a lot of homework to do :P But to be honest, a little jealous overhere.. The Flyer performs very well, I have now three lovely ladies at home. Mine dear Wife, beautiful daughter of six and mine sexy steadicam. Flown last monday a DSR-570 on it. Flew very nice.. :) Almost forgot.., Howard mentioned on a another forum that MK-V has bought all the Steadi Rig from Optex. So you should have enough options when needing a Rig to hire ! Best, Erik

Ben.., after looking at the monitor picture and now realtime looking at mine flyer monitor.., it seems indeed they are the same ! So, it is not Glidecam, not Steadicam.. it is a marshall monitor ! The same as the so called HD monitor from Steadicam, also seems a marshall monitor. :blink: Erik

Hi all, I'm operating for about 2 years now.., started with a clone, The Magiqcam Rig. As already mentioned before, it's fine for the price, don't expect to much, so have sold the Rig about 3 months ago, I'm a huge fan of Glidecam and do like the new V25 Rig. But also was looking for a really low weight rig with great performance.., so.. I bought a new Steadicam Flyer system. Just unpacked the box and all seems complete and alright .. The only bad thing is that it will take some extra days to retrieve the new battery package. Coming weekend will be a blast !! lot's of time to practice and to practice once more.. What I don't understand is why is a guy like this Jan still selling stuff over Ebay. Doesn't anybody who has trying to buy some stuff from him dropping any complain to Ebay ? I remember some troubles with a SK2 Video for sale on Ebay. Some messages to Ebay, the listing was removed from Ebay ! On the moment there once again 2 items for sale, the mentioned Vest and 1,5" post grip.. <_< Erik

Hi Lars, Hey man.. thumbs up.., as you and we all know.., the first 'real' shoot is always difficult but you did the job, right ? Just go ahead for the next one ! Mine first 'real' job was a short feature with the Thomson Viper Camera. A real HD shoot. Before the day I have warned the director that with the clone rig (Magiqcam) I didn't have a Remote Focus system, and also mentioned I was afraid that the shoot didn't work because the Camera was attached with Multicore to the OBV. Yes, you read it right.. Multicore. The Rig was very difficult to handle, but I managed to get some real great shots of the talent walk arround a dancefloor with some 20 dancers. But what went wrong, the shot was in focus / out focus / in focus etc etc.. :ph34r: So afterwards, the shot went straight to the Trashbin. Ofcourse, I was very very disapointed.. but was already thinking about the next shoot. This time a sport coverage of the Triathlon. I was following the sporters from the water, through a tent.. changing clothes, running 100 feet and start cycling, following them once again 100 feet and end of the shot. Result of this, great footage and compliments of many many camera people which were handheld shooters.. :rolleyes: So signing as a newbie operator with up and downs.. Best, Erik ;)

I have sold the Magiqcam.. to many limitations for several shots I wanted to achieve. Also only when you use at least 12 or even 16 lbs of weight.. the so called po-going is not present.. but with any setup below that weight.. it is not solid. A nice feature is the price and the some sort flight case you receive with the Rig.. On other words.. spent more money or rent a Rig.. Best, Erik

Hi Jimbo, I have the Magiqcam Rig now for about 1 year. Works fine. Ok, I also have some moments were I was sort of limited to do the shots with this Rig. But I think it performs well for the price. I even think that the Glidecam V16 and the Magiqcam IIA are simular in the results. The only difference is that with the Magiqcam you have a dual action arm were the Glidecam has 1 spring arm. About three weeks ago I even managed to place a Thomson HD Viper camera on this Rig. It was balanced well, just removed the viewfinder. The only problem was the multicore cable which was replaced with 2 coax cables. Even then it was not easy to control the Rig. But within the right Triax cable you can easy handle the Thomson Broadcast camera's on it or Pasasonic 900 series etc etc.. I Thinking about to sell the Rig... want to upgrade to the V25 or the Flyer. It now sells for about 1650 dollars. I have paid 2650 dollars, this was the lowmode option.. extra weights and ofcourse a monitor + battery set ! So for about 1250 dollars I will let it go ! Rgds, Erik

Hi Ben, Nice postage.. 1) I think they use in the States for all windows some extra studiolights which prevent the mixing with daylight and also prevent iris problems. 2) I have been in the States several times. I think all the so called popstars do live in villa or bungalows with only one floor so no stairs. I was in Florida some weeks ago, (rented a villa) and saw a MTV Crib overthere and thought at that particalar moment : It should be relative easy to shoot a mtv crib look a like inhere (rented villa), nice rooms, nice doorsteps with enough room to keep the rig aside of you. Hope the operators from the US will leave some feedback, regards, Erik
