  1. Hi Michael, You can use them without any problem on the Sled. The only 'problem' you can encounter is that there can be a weight difference between your own batts and the red bricks. So some rebalance can be in order.. Enjoy the flight, Cheers, Erik
  2. Hey guys (& girls), Today its the day, wrestlemania 27.. any steadicam this year? I hope so, please try to get some more shots then last years... Enjoy :) Cheers, Erik

  5. about the counter weight issue. Below the centerpost there is screwhole to attach a Assy weight: http://www.tiffen.com/displayproduct.html?tablename=steadicam&itemnum=800-7970
  6. I was curious from the first day i saw the Zephyr was born. Have asked about it at the IBC, never got any more answer then 'like they were busy with it..' :( However, i can imagine that you mount a second battery mount like the one provided and mount this one on the monitor rod. You can also screw on 4 positions the Merlin weights... This way you can easy overcome the Powercube weight or E10 weight. I don't know how many weights are provided in the standard package. So, maybe you can buy a batterymount bracket apart + a lot extra Merlin weights. It seems just stupid to have a rig which can handle 24lbs but cannot mount 2 batteries for a 'hotswap' like on the Flyer LE ???
  7. Thank you Tomas, it is indeed a nice in superb condition kit. Lot of emails with questions, still for sale however. Tax is ofcourse only for dutch company buyers.. Get yourself a bargain for only 3000,- euro..

  14. Hi Carl, Congrats on your new rig.. i had the Flyer LE for a while and it is a very very nice rig. I also had a problem with the gimbal(unbalance side to side after turning 180 degrees) and mine was replaced with a new one (due to prevent long downtime mainly). What you describe can be normal. The best way to test this, load up the rig with a nice payload, place the gimbal on the balance point on the docking bracket and recheck the play. It should be gone under load. While doing this, check also the static side to side and static for to aft balance. Static balance the rig 100% and then turn the sled 180 degrees.. Big question then is, is the sled still 100% in static balance ? But normally, a little play disappears under load.. Cheers, Erik
  15. Do you guys remember those nice weights Chris mentioned a couple of months ago?? The ASSY weights (1 lb). These weights can be screwed below the Zephyr post as extra balance weight. I don't know if this can be done on the SCOUT but i have seen / done this at the IBC on the Zephyr.. The battery mount for the Pilot looks identical to the one on the Scout and Zephyr. Since Tiffen introduced the Pilot with AA battery option, it was possible to upgrade at a later moment to the V-mount or AB mount. Maybe you can buy this upgrade and figure it out yourself? But the weight issue can be overcome by adding those ASSY weights, the power issue for example with RED use must be solved with the extra battery mount which connects to the present mount for 12V parallel or 24V..
  16. Well.. if that is really the case.. then this Rig will be a winner for sure. Nice specs, serious upgrades now if compared to the older smaller rigs. For me the dropin stage, the vest and still the same performance from the arm since the first Flyer arm.
  17. Hi all, Anyone any idea how to get the 'new content' via the Blackberry phone? It worked some weeks ago, now its gone. The mobile interface works and looks fine. Hope to hear, Best, Erik
  18. I have been collecting rig pictures from auctions or galleries for the last couple of years. Must be a couple of hunderds at the moment. Not this rig btw.. A good idea for sellers is to watermark your pictures..
  19. Hell NO.. :o It was posted via a link to a photograph website where her pictures of that shoot were on display. The photographer placed the pics at that site with the link to my clip. First it was no problem at all, but she was afraid that her (normal dayjob) boss was not pleased with it. Thats why the video was removed. What a pity because it was a nice clip..
  20. The best comparing steady situation for me was like 2 years ago, filming a topless girl during a kind of 'behind the scenes' of a photo shoot. I still have the clip and raw footage, but after is was shown to a couple of 1000 people online she kindly asked my to remove it.. i still want to use it in a reel :).. btw, it was shot like 300 meters from Job his home hahahaha
  21. btw Tim.. you are a lucky guy to have such a cool rehearsal recording of the performance. There are not a lot of ops who have this high quality behind the scenes footage :)
  22. Well, first of all, that is the difference between the internet page information about the Zephyr and the Zephyr PDF price document information. But in these PDF documents, they talk about a 24LBS and 30LBS payload for the arm. In the Literature document they mentioned the 20LBS camera payload also. But the arm seems still almost 100% the same as the Flyer LE arm which was indeed slighty upgraded for that 20LBS. Don't forget that it's not just the arm, the gimbal is a very important part in the weight possibilities. The Scout has the same arm as the LE also the same gimbal. Because you cannot mount a second battery, the payload is max 18LBS. The Zephyr gimbal is a huge toolfree upgraded gimbal and don't forget, this gimbal is able to handle the Tango.. I think they mixed up some text information also. That 30LBS is also exactly the same info about the Archer 2 Sled information. The Archer 2 Sled (read: gimbal) is rated for 30LBS, 13.6KG. This is only in combination with the G50 arm. But the big differences sofar are: - The Zephyr vest is a big upgrade with ratches - Dropin stage with 2 videolines (including HD/SDI) + 2 powerin/outputs standard. - 2 seperate rods for faster dynamic balance. But you can only mount 1 battery below and not 2 as with the Flyer LE. More weight below makes it possible (within limits) to have a bigger payload on the topstage. In the future they will add a optional second battery mount but at the IBC all Tiffen guys including Garrett himself didn't had any idea how that second mount would look :) Or they all didn't want to tell me ;) There is a nice video on vimeo 'Steadicams New Zephyr and Scout - Part 1 on 10.8.10' and part 2 also where Peter is talking 2 hours about steadicam in general. He mentioned the Pilot, the Scout, the Zephyr and the Archer 2. He explained the payload differences, interesting says 'approx 15LBS for the Scout' and 'approx 22LBS for the Zephyr'. So, some final answers from the Tiffen people would be nice :)
  23. To remind you all again about netto weight capacity: 10LBS for Pilot 15LBS for (old) Flyer 18LBS for Scout 19LBS for Flyer LE 20LBS for Zephyr. NOT 24LBS, look at the specs, the arm can handle 24LBS. Then minus the approx 4LBS Sled weight and you have 20LBS left for the Camera + extra's.. Erik
