  8. thanks kevin, locked the iris wide open at a 2.8. rated at 640. Exposed for the highlights in the brighter rooms of the house, and brought up the darker scenes within our latitude by adding some light. could of used a nudge here or there by a half stop or so, but budget wouldn't allow. The 7d has pretty good latitude for inexpensive camera.
  9. Thanks charles, I'll give it a go, makes more sense that way now that i think of about it. thanks for the tip. great work on that one'er on ugly betty by the way, came across it a while back, loved the flow and dynamics of the shot, impressive. side note-which lightweight rig do you fly?
  10. Just did a music video on the 7d. http://www.vimeo.com/7867769. We built it up with set of old letus rods, redrock mattebox, bartech/m-one. Suprisingly I had no issues with the camera moving on the plate, as the rubber base on the camera seemed to grip on the letus plate nicely. http://www.letusdirect.com/cart/letus35-support-rods.html I had to loop an hdmi cable around the gimbal, but fortunately had no issues with it getting it in the way. http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidkruta/41...57622737211405/ One big issue I did have though, was using my 7 inch marshall monitor to take the hdmi signal. The signal kept cutting out if you even lightly bumped the connection to the camera body. Anyone else have this experience?
  11. Hey guys, glad you enjoyed some of my work. Yeah I was using the flyer le system for the Prospect hill video. Once we put the 7d body, 16-35 zoom on a set of rods with 4 stage mattebox, bartech system/m-one motor, and brick battery to power it, it was aprox. 15lbs/7kg of camera weight judging by how much I adjusted the springs in my arm. So for a longer shot like this, with the dutch roll (upside-down kegstand), and a quick jog up stairs, it was a good weight range. There were a few areas in the shot where the lens shakes a little, I found at running speeds the carbon fiber sled tends to add a little shake to the lens, but other than that I like the lightweight sled and arm for most shoots. By far the hardest part of the shot was right after flipping the camera for the upside down keg stand, having catch the horizons while walking over to the drummer, it took me 11 takes to get a decent take. The on set photographer didn't seem to know how to control his shutter, so here's an out of focus shot of the setup! Notice the loose hdmi cable I had to run down around the gimbal to the monitor, believe it or not, i found running it like that keeps it out of the way for almost any steadicam move. http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidkruta/41...57622737211405/ kevin you called it exactly right, I placed the tire there to help me clear the car, Only did one take of this, didn't want to push my luck and end up falling and taking down my rig and a red. -Jeff
  12. I just got off that multicam Hd job, When I first arrived the engineer brought me a loom of about 12 cables all strapped together, and said, let me know when your connected. I quickly stopped him, and refused. Finally I talked him down to video,TC, and remote. I ended up having major problems with that monsterous remote cable, do you have any photos of the rig you made for it? Also, which company makes the superlightweight bnc cables, I had a few that came with my rig, but I need some replacements. thanks,
  13. Im actually using the hpx2000, I think it's slightly older, but similar. It is a mulitcam set up, so all of the above which you mentioned, will have to be slapped on my rig. I've never ran with all that extra cabling so I'm a bit concerned with being able to control my rig with all the cables attached. Any tips?
