  1. You are very lucky Kevin .

I did hear somewhere that Don may consider selling just the Potentiometer to people as it seems to be the main problem in many of his motors that I have had .I hope that it is true .I hope thing turn around for him as we all know customer support is everything .

I have sent Don this link .

  2. Hi Otto

Thanks Eric I have sent him a email about exactly that .

As to his question PLEASE read through the Newbie section there are many post answering that exact question . To answer question

Do a 2 day workshop Tiffen run them all the time .Contact your local operators .Get the steadicam operators handbook .To name just a few things to start with.ok.

    Good luck.

  3. Hi Pascal

A BFD system is a great brand and something which you will not need to upgrade for a long long time .$2500 is a fare price for this system with a M26p Heden motor .

As to warranty etc When I first started all of my kit was 2nd hand .The most important thing to do is what ever you are buying I get the seller to send the system back to the maker(or reseller ) of the item and get them to go over the system (Yes there would probably be a fee for their time but MONEY well spent ) Or it you know a operator who could check it out for you would also be a good start.

I have had BFD's systems since 2000 (s/n 23 and many others ) and it still works great .

If the system came with a M1 motor you would be looking at around $3K to $3.5K and more depending on what cables and other brackets etc etc $4K-$4500K

When you think Well this is an investment in my future and brands like BFD's hold there value this will be money well spent .

    Good luck

  4. "I can honestly say that once you have presented the 'boxx' to different clients, there is no going back... zero delay, no ( and I mean no) drop outs.. cementwall, up and down staircases... no drop out.. ( not sure about the radiationlevel.. but I have all the children I need ;-)"

Flemming said it all .I have 2 Boxx Meridians 1st at a rental house which go's out all the time on commercials and ( has paid for itself )and the 2nd one I use .When I get DP's saying when we used the last guy his Tra/Rec was breaking up and the client video had issues BUT with your system it just worked ."I look forward to working with you again " How much money is that worth to you ? I have the standard Meridian Tra/Rec (not with the broadcast controls an extra $18K)

I to like everyone else are looking forward to trying out all these new toys and I hope the new system will be as solid as the Boxx.

    just my 2 cents.

  5. Hi Dave

With the release of Chris Fawcett's and Tiffens "Exovest " any day now have you tried it yet ?

For me I have only used Walters vest several times and yes it is very well made etc,etc But I found the weight of the vest to be the heaviest out there .At the other end I would say that Chris's would be the lightest out there (for big rigs). For me this is a Big issue when you consider how we are always trying to reduce every where else.

  6. Hi Sandro

I hope you did a search on this topic as there is many pages on this topic and tests by many ops using all types of systems.

Like everything in this industry depending on where you are working will determine who much you should spend .Osvaldo covered all the top end systems (real broadcast HD)and Victor has covered most of the others non broadcast systems .

Who much do you want to spend? Personally for the type of work I do (commercials,tv drama, features)I have replaced my Modulus with the Boxx Meridian .For me spending a little more if you want SILENCE from video village is money well spent .

    just my 2 cents .
