  1. Hi Pedro

Looks are very deceiving with these systems .I have tested many of the Movcam systems and at best are average .They copy(rip off) many of the

Steadicam brands mostly Tiffen .When I look at buying a system I look for Quality materials, Reputation ,Backup /support ,resale .For these reason

    I would look else were.

Just my 2 cents worth ok .Good luck

  2. I have issues with would be operators who don't own follow focus systems ,Transmitter system ,hard mounts etc and then low ball the rate and then get the production to hire in all the extra items .

The production then thinks that this very low rate is or becomes the standard rate if you have all the gear or not .In the end the production pays much more but try and convince them that's another thing .

May I say I find it very hard to help /support them when things go's wrong and in many cases do .

  3. Hi Nathaniel

I will be in Sydney from the 12-22 of August working .If I can help just let me know.

I would agree with Chris that your control with your left or right hand is to tight a grip and is reflected in the frame moving .

    Nothing beats Practice, Practice, Practice.

Chris DB is great Its all very simple when he lays it out on the floor .Well done mate .

If you need another instructor for your next w/shop I am available ok .

    Talk soon

You should email Hugo from Steadyrig who went through this exact process quite a few years ago .Hugo is a fantastic engineer and designer and made a very good arm Silver spring arm which many operators are using world wide .

The arm is a very good upgrade from a 3a arm and works very well .

Second hand EFP /3A arm sell for $4k-$6k

If you have access to a CNC machine and spring maker and many other parts then give it a go but I know you will spend more then $6k on the process.

    Good luck .

  6. Hi rendan

Welcome to the steadicam forum .If you have a look in the steadi-Newbies section you will find 1278 Topics and 9182 replies on all the topics you have raised .As you are still at college I take it you have not done a 5 workshop yet .As you will read over and over again a workshop is the best place to start as all of the topics you have asked about are covered and many many others .

I would also be contacting local operators in Connecticut and ask if you could go out on shoots with them and watch or assist them .

    Good luck
