An old friend sent me this quote .
“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after
the sweetness of low price is forgotten”
Benjamin FranklinThanks Jerry .

I used my BFD's (No 23 and others )as my main FIZ for quite a few years before I could afford a Preston .As I have stated before the BFD system is rock solid tried and tested over many years (14 years with one of mine) and will do you well for your career.

Hi Nathan
The last 3 long form tv drama I have done 2 of them the production covered me Public Liability and my equipment insurance .The last one the production would not cover my gear so I charged them using my own insurance company but again they did cover me for public Liability.
Every PM is different and so I have everything covered and charge accordingly.
(another Australian op ).

To me peace of mind and awesome customer service is a very high priorities and are worth $1000's when you consider it must work perfectly every time I work .
Karl is the RT Motion receiver smaller then the BFD Digital receiver ?

Terry west is the best .Over the 20 years I have know him he has made most of my cables .His standard of work is outstanding .

Welcome Nathan
Did you consider getting a normal socket block and then buying a adaptor from Walter Klassen so you would be able to use the smaller pin block with it.I am thinking you would then be able use other ops larger sled's with your vest on jobs where you need a large sled.
Just a idea.
Good luck .

Hi Tim
Do the 5 day workshop if you can .They are fantastic .
From my first w/shop in 1985 (the first in Australia)I still talk to many of the students who attended .
Life long friends.

Welcome Jonathan
As Brian has stated about being "too beginner" All of the Tiffen workshops have students of all different skill sets .There have been 1st AC (wanting to up skill),directors (wanting to understand the process),Grips(wanting to become op/steadicam) so there is quite a mixed bag of students that attend workshops .
Being a good camera operator /knowing what a good frame is always a good start .
Tiffen as you would have read offer several different levels of workshops its up to you to make the choice and get along .All of them are great fun and you meet some other ops from around the world .
Enjoy .

Hi everyone
I was told from one of my clients he puts this warning with his camera when dry hiring it out . Be ware when changing cables .
Warning Warning Warning
When using the Remote Record trigger plugs on the F5/55 and a Digital BFD system.
Re the Hirose power out/record trigger plugs: Like all Sony's NEVER plug into or pull out of the Hirose when the camera is Powered up, it can Blow the board very easily.
Here's the catch with the F55……. The SDI output drivers are on the same board as the Hirose plugs, so if you blow the Hirose, you can blow up the SDI output drivers as well!!! Luckily the F55 has 4 SDI outs, so you have some alternatives, but not an ideal outcome.
Along the same lines, there have been some instances of camera's having blown SDI drivers by being hot swapped into the SDI plugs!
The SDI drivers can be damaged if there is a (negative) voltage spike on the SDI ground circuit. The instances where this has happened have been with SmallHD DP6 and TV Logic 5.6 monitors.
Sony are looking at how to address this, but to be safe don't plug into or unplug from the either the Hirose or SDI plugs with either the camera or monitor powered up.
Warning Warning Warning

Jonathan I would not go that far . At the end of the day you get what you pay for .
"Its good to hear the RT system competeing in the same class of a Preston and also about the updated motor clamps."
In my humble option.

I have been using the Boxx Meridian system for the last 4-5 years and loved it. Simple Plug and play every time .Silence at Video villiage is priceless the director always has a picture. All the guys and girls at Boxx Customer Service in Australia and England have been outstanding .For all of this Yes it comes at a price $15K each But they have paid for themselves .So much so I now own 4 systems .

So true Victor

Victor there must be an issue with that rental unit as I have just come off a 9 week TV drama and my BFD Digital unit worked every time through wall, tents ,and long range as well .We were using my Preston as well and digital BFD and the assistants loved both systems.

Terry West did a great job upgrading my sons EFP rig.
