  1. Speaking of focus Charles what was your impression of the Hocus Focus system?
  2. Thanks for all the insight Sydney, much appreciated. RCA on the sony (fx1000) isn't working, s-video is.
  3. Hi all I hope this is in the right section. I have a Flyer and am buying the 5D mkii this week (as it has been used on the last couple of shots I have been on). My question is what other accessories should I start to look at. I realize I will need a weight plate, and a way to an image on the sled but most important is a follow-focus system. Is Bartech a good brand? Is there something cheaper? How do I power the motor off of the Flyer Sled? I also have a job upcoming that is using the Sony HDV-HVR, the only video hookup I saw was for s-video. Is there an s-video to BNC adapter out there? Thanks in advance for any insight
  4. To make a long story short, I got the bearings out but damaged one racer on the way back in........secondly I removed the yoke from the gimbal (in retrospect it didn't need to be done) and putting it back together was awful, and left me with a couple extra washers. I was told how to clean the bearings from a very credible source however this person has infinitely more experience than I and being the beginner that I still am should have listened to my gut and left well enough alone. Needless to say I will contacting Michael tomorrow to see about servicing (I hope my insurance will cover it), in the meantime she is back together and well be Flying on a job in the morning, can't wait to see how it goes.....then again I can  Oh well, I hope some one else In my situation reads this post and it gives them pause
  5. Sorry for the re-post, but is there anyone that can help me get the bearing-races out of their housing on my flyer gimbal?? I have a shoot tomorrow morning and would love to have them cleaned and re-assembled! Thank you
  6. So I took apart the sled, removed the gimbal, romved the handle and then the yoke and now I have a black ring containing the bearings. My question is; is this as far as i need to go? Is this "ring" the bearings or do i need to actually remove them from the housing?? Thanks
  7. I need to clean the bearings in my Flyer Gimbal (original model), and before I do I was hoping to get any tips or other peoples experiences (cautionary tales) with cleaning their Flyers before I take it apart. Thanks in advance
  8. Hey Alan I had the same problem with my Flyer arm, I picked up a can of ACF-50 and problem solved. Hope this helps
  9. Thanks Peter, do you have any pics? I received an email from another member with a schematic of a plate he designed which I might try to duplicate. This past weekend I used a ankle-weight securely fastened to the camera handle that really helped in making the rig behave in a more stable manner. Thanks again
  10. Or a good machinest in So Cal who could provide me with one  Thanks
  11. Hi guys, first off I did in fact use the search function and saw some good ideas! Now is anyone selling or creating any weight-plates for use with the Flyer? Thanks
  12. Thanks Kevin, I just got off the phone with Tiffen and everything is good to go now!
  13. Hi all, my F-bracket has the hole for the 'aircraft-pin' clocked at an angle so when it is attached to gimbal/yoke it pushes the post/sled to my back at an angle, my question is this correct? Secondly when I balance (right side up with camera upside down) while flying my side-side is off so I adjust? Should i balance upsisde down instead? Also I am getting what feels to be a bunch of lateral movement, I have tried shorter drop, repositioning the batt. maybe add weight to the camera? I am using a Flyer with HVX and one v-mount batt Thanks in advance for any comments suggestions Jason
  14. Does the pin need to stay at about 45' angle to the nuts? Thanks Jason
  15. Thanks Rick that's what I thought
  16. I just received my F-Bracket from Tiffen (using a Flyer) and if I am not mistaken it appears the bracket was assembled incorrectly, the hole for the arm and post for the gimbal are on opposite sides, is this correct or incorrect? If so is it an easy fix as I need it for Saturday! Thanks Jason
  17. I was going to get the Libec DVx remote but is the 'stock' cable going to be an issue? Thanks Jason
  18. Thanks Sven, the majority of operators seem to prefer the Bebo so it seems to be the one to buy, and since you had one on your Flyer then I know it should fit! Thanks again Jason
  19. Great suggestions everyone, and thanks for the link! I have seen some AC's work magic with matte-board so that sounds about right......just need a ruler to cut straight!! Thanks Jason
  20. Hello all! I am wondering if anyone has any good ideas on purchasing or constructing a hood for 7" widescreen color LCD monitor 16:9/4:3 NTSC/PAL? Thanks Jason
  21. Awesome! Thank you all very much!!
  22. Buying a zoom control for my Flyer and am looking for any comments or impressions for the various brands (VariZoom/Libec/BeBob) I have used the 'search' function and read the corresponding posts, and I would love to see if there is anymore input, if anyone cares to add their 2-cents  The camera I own is an XL2 however the bulk of the work has been with Panasonic HVX/HMC or Sony HD , also I would love to know if the stock remote can be attached to the gimbal or does it need to be modified? Thank you Jason
  23. Just got a call back from Tiffen and worked through the problem (a little WD-40 was on the menu after all  )!! Was working at the beach and in the desert so looks like some cleaning was, or is needed!! Thanks for all the responses J.
  24. "Use the rollers when the arm is not under load.".....as quoted from the manual? Should I place the sled on the arm and look for the 'sweet' spot ? Thanks.
