  1. I'm sorry,

what was the point of this video? It's hard to give you any comments in regards to operating.

This could have been shot with a DSLR and a tripod and have the same effect.

I don't mean to be rude in any way, I just don't understand, sorry.

    Best, Sebastien.

Yeh I do operate Goofy, that's just how I was taught, makes more sense to me using the hand I'm more precise with (right) for the Gimbal as well. As for arm/vest setup yeh I do spend time on it so the rig can float by side without shooting off in a certain direction. I think I started doing the finger over the top thing to stop myself putting to much influence into the gimbal as the the centre of my hand was more on top the the CG of the rig so would take more effort to influence the rig as the leverage is less. It's clear from all your responses that it's not a common or preferable technique, I thought it might of been one of those things (like shooting goofy) that some people just did and it doesn't make any difference really but I'll definitely train myself out of it now. As for being comfortable, yeh it looks pretty uncomfortable but that picture was taken from a frame mid way through an hour long shot and didn't seem too much of problem. You can see the hour shot here sped up to 2 mins if you so wish. Lose my verticals in a couple of places and headroom is bit too much in places too but it was only for practice and I know where to improve for future, any other comments appreciated, although hard to see as its sped up so much.

    Thanks for all your help

    Phil

  5. Hi,

I had one for about a month now, great rig, I think I'm the first one in the US with one of those, don't quote me on that though. For the price, you're getting a lot of cool features, I'm not gonna through the list, just check their website.

I recommend everyone to try it at the expo, their vest too, very nice. And by the way, I'm a pro vest and arm owner, I don't have a deal with Satchler or anything, I just think they make great products. Also, when it comes to service,

I'd give them an A+, Curt has been great with me, so far so good.

    Best, Sebastien.

    Hi there,

I just talk to Don on the phone this morning, he is still unpacking but has the tools out to get the job done.

    The phone number is 406.837.1370

If he doesn't answer the first time, try again. I don't know about his website though. I know he had some problems with

the installation of his internet but I think it's ok now.

    Best, Sebastien.

  7. Hi Sebastien,

thanks for your post. I did check and probably it's because of continuos changing pics and moving things around. Refreshing the page should fix the problem. At least in my computer was like that. Please let me know if it does work and possibly what you think of my reel.

    Thanks again.

    My best,

    maqu

    Hi Matteo,

I tried again and it worked this time, the video was quick to play and the quality was good.

I like your reel, there is some good footage, I'd have to agree with Chris about the first few shots,

it might be too many of the same kind, I think they are cool but maybe spread them apart.

also, I'm not crazy about the first music, it makes me uncomfortable. Creating some tension?

The beginning of your reel is very important, that's what's gonna make me watch or

switch to something else. Cool work, overall. I hope this help a bit.

Actually, since we're here, I would love some feedback on my reel too. I uploaded it a couple of month ago.

No film work, just HD cameras, RED and DSLRs. Here it is:

  8. The plates don't come with it (well just the one for the bottom) but atleast on the V-LCD651STX the holes are there for them and Marshall sells them. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/480414-REG/Marshall_V_LCD70TMB_02_V_LCD70TMB_02_Tripod_Mount_Brackets.html They may not do exactly what you need but they may be a useful piece for a solution.

    ~Jess

    Hi everyone,

I just thought I'd update this thread a bit. I just bought one of those Marshall V-LCD651STX-3GSDI monitor for my Steadicam Archer 1, I wanted the 8.4" one that you can see here

    http://www.marshallm...4STX/index.html

but they decided not to make it after all,( I just talked to a technician at Marshall). I called them because I'm still wondering how I'm gonna mount this monitor on my sled, and thought they could help when it comes to bracket and adapters for their monitors, no luck. The side holes on the V-LCD651STX-3GSDI are 1" apart and so the little plates that Jess had mentioned won't work. I will keep on looking but If anyone could help me find something, I would appreciate.

    Best, Sebastien

  9. Update:

no flip function really screws me. Seems like this should be a basic feature in every monitor.

Also, the glass coating on the screen is nice, except in direct sun, where it reflects something mean.

Overall though, I still love the marshall. It saves my ass every time I'm outside in bright daylight.

Thomas, I run a thin (rg-179) bnc from the front of the stage to the monitor. I've been powering the monitor with an ab dionic. It adds much needed weight to the front of my sled. I can also power it using the 4pin output in the bottom of my sled if I need to save weight.

I also had to choose between the transvideo and the marshall. Price was a big factor for me. Plus I didn't need all the features that transvideo had like waveform, false color, coffee machine, etc.

There's some pics of the monitor on my sled on my website in the pics tab.

This might be a good option for Steadicam use. I have an Archer 1 and am thinking of upgrading my monitor. This could be it.

    Best. Sebastien

Sorry, I forgot the link to the Marshall website and their new monitor.

  11. Jerry,

I just bought a practice cage from Janice last week, which consist of 2 weight plates connected together by rods, very helpful.

Of course you can configure those plates the way you want. go to the market place section and get in touch with her, she'll help you out.

    Best, Sebastien.
