  1. Ron, looks like you've confused the Steadicam forum with OKCupid again--this is incidentally a much better profile than your last one you put up, the one with the assless chaps and Barbara Streisand references. Ari, I've forwarded the Tenacious D video a bunch. It's absolutely fantastic. And I love the rig docking during the shot.
  2. Loved that Tenacious D video!! so many great production in-jokes.
  3. ....or, the camera simply never stopped rolling between takes, which is more and more prevalent.
  4. Hiya, Shooting this weekend and we need to be able to bounce back and forth between rig (Archer 2) and conventional. Unless somone has an Archer-compatible Catgriller/SOS, I figured the best alternative is an RBQ. May not be the lightest option but it's an F55 shoot so no bigs (to me at least, then again I don't have to carry it around...h!) If anyone in LA has one we can borrow, would be grateful. Thanks!
  5. Well, if anyone wants to go old school (aka SD and analog), I have a Dynawave (digital Modulus) and Camos system up for sale here: http://www.charlespapert.net/gearsale/Dynwave_Camos.html That tech served us all well not all that long ago, and probably better now that there is less clutter on the analog frequencies.
  6. Price lowered to $1150, OBO. Delrin full-size socket block available also: http://www.charlespapert.net/gearsale/delrin_socket_block.html $1300 for both.
  7. Hello all: Long story short, I'm placing an order for a bunch of Decimator Design products and can offer a modest savings if anyone needed one (US sales only, pickup in LA preferred). Message me if you need anything. The Decimator 2 is of course the best known but they also have distribution amps, quad splitters, cross converters and other fun gizmos that aren't necessarily Steadicam oriented but who knows what else you guys are into (well, we know a lot of what Ron is into).
  8. Camera Essentials standby cover Custom extra long version, covers accessories mounted onto the stand legs. Has a small rip, can be easily taped up. THIS IS JUST ONE TEENSY PART of the vast amount of crap I'm selling off. Finally clearing out the leftover bins and nooks and crannies. There may be valuable nuggets therein! Deals to be had! See it all at: http://www.charlespa...ale/splash.html To contact me with offers or questions, please do so at sale@charlespapert.com rather than posting below or PM'ing through this site. Thank you.
  9. Gotta have one for those sweaty days when you are in godforsaken low mode and trying to find a handhold... THIS IS JUST ONE TEENSY PART of the vast amount of crap I'm selling off. 10. Very little use. Great for light setups (running rig). THIS IS JUST ONE TEENSY PART of the vast amount of crap I'm selling off. Finally clearing out the leftover bins and nooks and crannies. 11. Even though it's in bold in Joshua's post, please again understand that these pictures are meant for comparison only, both monitors appear brighter in person. Every monitor manufacturer will tell you that you can't just take pictures of a monitor especially under these conditions and have them come out the way they look to eye. Even the green screens.
  12. Just because Dave was nice to me in another thread (and we are old friends and I lived in his basement when I first moved to LA etc etc), if anyone is not familiar with his work, go to Steadishots right now and watch and learn. That lanky bastard pulled off AMAZING stuff all day every day like it was nothing. Complete and utter control of the rig, able to remember dozens and dozens of cues and offered a ton of great ideas (he was the youngest director of "ER" in an era where operators were not given the opportunity to direct network shows). Dave: I accept Paypal. xoxo guy behind the guy
  13. Ummm--iTunes, and older ones on Hulu. And a few clips each show on Youtube. Last week's episode netted one of my faves, this parody of "Les Miserables", featuring the fine Steadicam stylings of Nick Franco...
  14. Hey gang: Season 3 of Key & Peele is underway! Tune in Wednesdays at 10:30/9:30c...
  15. Hmmmm...I would have to try that to fully grasp the ramifications, but at first glance it seems a bit dodgy of a maneuver for the typical set environment. Please let us know when you have a demo video up showing the procedure.
  16. As a broken-record reminder: nits are a measure of brightness but perceived contrast is equally as important when judging viewability of a Steadicam monitor. Famously, the TB6 was not as bright spec-wise as the PRO monitor but many (including me) felt that it provided a more useable image under many conditions, as it washed out less. This was quite literally observed at the monitor shoot-out.
  17. Thank you Magnus. My somewhat cheeky earlier comments were pointed at the fact that FIZ has become an adhoc generic term for a three channel, three controller system--it's just nomenclature but it was enough to confuse me. Interesting idea and I would have to play with it to understand usage--as you indicated, when you change channels the unit remembers where you were previously, but if the knob is in a different place, how does it not jump? i.e. you have focus at 5 feet, then switch to iris and pull from a T4 to a T5.6--when you switch back to focus your knob is now at say 8 feet? Incidentally all, I did chat to the folks at Preston and they do have an interface cable that works with the Cabrio lenses to provide full three channel control. However it does require the Cabrio to have a particular level or later of firmware (Alanna, what was it? H?).
  18. I've had the DP7 OLED for about a month and so far I like how it goes about things. Some different and innovative ideas about menu structure and controls. Curious to hear how people like the high brightness version for Steadi application.
  19. I did look at the tweets, and saw a picture of a unit with a single knob on it. Regardless of what they are calling it. Maybe it lets you zoom and iris with your mind.
  20. Alan--looking at the pictures of the Carat, it looks like a typical Bartech style controller with a single knob. If it was to control iris and zoom as well, perhaps it lets you cycle through the functions with the same knob, but that's hardly a classic FIZ. Otherwise--where the other two controls?
  21. :45 a Clint Eastwood movie shooting at Lacy Street Studios?! Will wonders never cease
