  1. You know, this sounds exactly like a problem I heard of just a little bit ago, and that is that there was an obstruction, a metal shaving in this case, in with the bearings...you may want to check that out. If you're unable I'm sure any kind of mechanic would be able to figure out how to take it apart and check.....but I'd still get the Pilot and sell the Proaim. If you can fix the problem you'll definately get more of your investment back.
  2. Personally I went the route of plates as well. I got a total of four 1/4in. steel plates measuring 3" x 7" at a local metal shop, had them drill the holes, and I'm in business. I've found the setup worked really well with one lined up with my camera, and two sticking out to the sides...kinda like antlers. The fourth plate I have yet to use, as I'm trying to build up my endurance with the current weight before I add another 3 pounds.
  3. Please forgive me for the picture below, as it's only for representation. I am looking to replace my post on my SK2 with a length of CF tubing, and re-wire it myself with the existing top, gimbal, arm and vest. I'd like to replace the fixed weight/monitor setup with an adjustable on such as those on modern setups...here is the picture: I'm not looking for that exactly, just some sort of adjustable weight system on it's own to fit my CF tubing, along with a mount for an LCD. My hopes are to modify the SK2 for use in the modern world, and document this for future operators as a low-cost alternative to big rigs....and to help give them options to steer away from the crap(I won't mention by whom{look up}). Thanks
  4. I've resisted posting here, for one big reason. I'm inexperienced, there's alot to still be read in the archives/search, and I feel this is a place for the big boys. I'd like to point out that charles gave a great alternative to big rigs, in the site HBS. He and other members there have been of great help to me, and they have a wealth of info and expertise in the use of lower-budget rigs there. I don't personally think the repetition of questions is justified in any case, and certainly not on a professional board specializing in a certain kind of product. You don't ask about a Pinto on a BMW site just because they are both cars(unless there is a "other brand cars section")...or about riding a unicycle in the circus on a professional mountain biking forum because they both have spoked wheels. In addition, a forum in general, as a concept has been around for awhile, usually has a rules section for newbies, and usually includes the mention of trying the search function. What has been said is par for the course, and if you can't handle the norm for forums, then perhaps you should stick to something else besides forums, such as a local rental house, store, etc. where the people are expected and expect to answer all and any question, regardless of it's frequency. I'll post again sometime in the future after I have exhausted the search/archive, have my Steadicam SK2 in hand, and have valid questions.
