  1. I am not sure that it belongs in this forum, but here it goes anyway. I often cary around my iPhone 7 Plus, it is the handiest "rig" I have. Even though I am looking forward to the "Volt" I tried one of the gimbals available on the market. It is difficult to walk with the system without experiencing an annoying bobbing effect. I decided to build a small z-axis enhancement based on Garrett Brown's patent (sorry). It is strictly for my own consumption, but it could be useful sometimes for other than myself, so I decided to share it. I moved the grip vertically under the center of gravity, so it is acceptable to hold without too much wrist discomfort, it's fairly small and it works. Please feel free to remove this post if it is too inappropriate. Here is the link: https://youtu.be/hXX7Vgk_wMw
  2. I just modified my Smoothee for my son's Fujifilm W3 pocket camera. It seems to work rather well. I thought I'll share the construction: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5R6xDW4s4M8 .
  3. I just completed my latest revision of a 3D rig, based on the Steadicam Merlin. It allows me to sync the two camcorders very precisely, monitor what I am capturing in either 2D (for alignment) or 3D (for possible stereoscopy violations), and be very mobile. I tried to mount the rig on another inertial stabilizer, but it was way to hard on the wrist. Such setup is highly mobile - and the camera motion can increase the 3D impression. Unfortunately I had to lift the cameras bit high above the pivot point, which puts the rig right at the limit of the Merlin, but it allows me to take higher quality and more predictable 3D in areas where the big rigs are either too large or too heavy to be possible to use. I posted the rig here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ze5kewgzac and here: http://www.vimeo.com/14180101 .
  4. It would be nice. If they give me one, I will gladly mount 3D rig on it :-). Until then, just the video is in 3D.
  5. Chris Fawcett operated gracefully the new Tango at the NAB 2010. some footage has been capture and can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/steadivision#p/u/12/XhDHuV-NpBk , or here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcR5eyjY_vo . Tango is just awesome in the hands of a master.
  6. Well, I guess three days old is an old story. I travel too much. I'd delete the post if I knew how. Moderator, please feel free to delete the thread I started.
  7. I just came back from CES where I visited the Tiffen booth. I thought that the new SMOOTHEE can do wonders for iPhones and such, that really in ideal conditions don't look unwatchable for private users, but the shaking gives fast headache. I took some stereo shots of it, Elvis, Marilyn, etc. Just a little fun. BTW, Elvis is live and was pretty impressed. Luckily he didn't see how poorly I operate the Merlin. Oh well. I posted it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEkrD1zKOho , here: http://www.vimeo.com/8654237 , and here: http://www.vimeo.com/8653423 . I figure some might enjoy it. The fellow at the booth was really friendly and helpful. Thank you.
  8. Thank you Chris! Coming from you it means a lot! Pavel
  9. The YouTube now supports 1080p, including the 3D player. I place the video in that resolution here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBvQ634a3ss, in case you are interested. The player seems to require many MIPS though. Thank you.
  10. Thank you Erik. I am very happy for the reception and appreciation. It means a lot from this community! Pavel
  11. In 3D electronic or optical stabilization has to be turned off, because the differential changes between the two views provide the wrong cues and are just counter productive. I've constructed an amateur 3D rig, which works very well and is based on the Merlin. Some of you maybe interested, since the 3D stereoscopy is comming up big time early next year. Here is a YouTube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THU5XeRIeOA. Better quality (but anaglyphic - requiring glasses) are at these sites: http://www.vimeo.com/7281780 and http://exposureroom.com/members/ComPH8.asp...2b20c9b928e0d7/. The system is quite light and portable, and I am really enjoying it.
