  1. stephen, thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to come and post! its not often operators come and do that and i for one am pleased to see you post! your work was very nice and i look foward to seeing more of your work.

    cheers...

  2. i had to get caught up as well.

i really hope we can still have the meet at gladstones! mikes wife and even mike himself have taken the liberty to reserve a space for us for FREE, it would be a shame not to take them up!

of course i will be wherever the location but lets just agree on gladstones. cinegear is a wekeend event and everyone can see everyone on one day or another. im sure at NAB, for example, there were some ops who didnt see other ops.. thats just the nature of things.

so my small vote is lets have it at gladstones...

  3. i appreciate your reply and your approach to the site. as long as something is being done proactively instead of reactively thats all one can ask of the site...

however, to comment on your other statement, i did have a Resume and i was an operator when i joined up this site and when i was a memebr of the old email based forum. i had access to an EFP system and was using that and what other rigs i could rent, borrow and steal. im still not as high up on the food chain as yourself but after 7 years of operating (3 years pre workshop up to today) i have worked my way up to a masters Rig with a few bells and whistles.. it takes time especially if you dont have any money or a rich uncle... and i was doing that while working a 9 to 5 (non film related) job.

i could have furnished all of that PLUS references if there was a request from the moderator to do so.

again, thanks for the reply and education.. i will see you at cinegear!

  4. erwin,

i think you misunderstood my meaning...

i just think there should be a flood gate control to keep the bad guys/gals out. i know who jeff mart is.. i know a lot of old heads by name....

im just saying there shold be a way to grant access to users signing up..

i apologize as it seems my suggestion is being shot down left and right... ill just shut up and look from the sidelines...

  5. damn eric,

why the hit below the belt bro? did i do something wrong to you?

although i dont want to take this thread too far OT id like an explanation as to why you think i would not be posting here? i was on the old forum years before this site turned on.

no need to air our dirty laundry here , so please send me an email off list or PM me so i can understand why you posted that. i thought we were cool?

    back on tropic,

i just care about the small community of veteran ops we have left and if we sit back and allow this spamming to happen i think it will drive more away.

still, i dont see why we cant implement a system to grant permission to folks who want to join...

  6. Guys,

we need to keep this forum out of the "commons" and continue to give it value. there needs to be a system put in place so that new members MUST be APPROVED before they can join. they need to perhaps, submit some type of resume or some history so we know they are legit and are actual operators. we dont need a bunch of new people who THINK that may want to try steadicam to sign up.. they can still read the site and search the archives but they dont really need to be a member since virtually everything newbie related is here posted already.

i have seen several spammers just pop up and post garbage which heleps to further erode this site.

please please please please limit whwo joins and make them mod or even member approved! im sure thats not that many signing up daily.. and if it is id be happy to help approve or otherwise help out the mods..

i just dont want this site to become trash...

    just a concerned member....

  7. Made this guy's post invisible, but I don't have the ability to put him on moderator approval. For whatever reason, it seems that Eric, Erwin and I are all missing some functions (i.e. Erwin can't merge posts). I'm sure this is an oversight by Tim, but its kinda funny - we each have our own super powers!

And I have put him on Moderator approval. Seems my superpower is Delete and Mod Approval....

    the X-MEN!

sorry for the OT post but could not resist!

  8. d@mn that shot was superb! i never watched xfiles but that was a very nice shot. the edits were obvious but that did not takw away from the superior operating. the VW shot is pretty slick and leveled throughout that drive. maybe he got on his knees? id like to know the answer to this one also...

  9. brad,

it didnt like firefox either so i had to open up IE!

the small window didnt let me see you like i wanted to so i full screen'ed it and that was awful due to the bandwidth limitation..

thas for posting though... had i been there only an hour sooner i would have seen skin!

  10. thx chris,

ive read just about everything published that jerry has written and know the above information well. i will try your suggestion re: correct as i spin and see how that works...
