  1. A great warm up at the start, and poses too - sure too get some, "wow that looks heavy" and "you look like robocop/terminator/something off alien, comments! the reassuring hand on the back looks useful up on that wall too! oh dear...
  2. I'm sure there was something on youtube or vimeo after BVE in the UK this year. Can't search as on my phone without internet for the weekend, will post a link if I find it - obviously give 3D steadicam in both of the above a shot and I'm sure something will pop up. Remember it being 5+mins long and full of info. Cheers MA
  3. Hi there, I helped another operator on a job last year with one. The biggest issue is weight I thought. To get your gimbal at a reasonable height your going to need a fare bit down the other end! Think we had 3 pags in a selection of sizes. This was on an MK-V Nexus. The G-70 arm took the weight but was told there wasn't too much more if it got heavier. There was a few problems with mounting focus motor, but really was a while ago and can't quite remember. The G.O.T.S.K sorted that with a dog leg and few other bits though! Its really not a steadicam camera though, with 35mm budget I would push production to get an LT or similar for steadicam. Failing that BOOK A TEST DAY and sort all your problems out before the shoot. Saying that there are heavier cameras and people have worked with worse. Heavy is good and will move beautifully, just keep your dock close by! Good luck Matt
  4. Exactly as Pascal put it, on its side between the upper and lower sections of the arm. I wouldn't go through the post bearings I remember them being quite fragile. especially if it were to hang, any knocks to it could pop them out etc and cause you some problems on set! On the side, well that's what I did when I had a Glidecam!
  5. I use samonite pouches or clear stationary cases, all pretty cheapand waterproof!
  6. hey Charles hope your well, couldnt get your link working? went to ME login page??! hope alls well MA Thinking about it i guess you need to an ME login to view other peoples gallery's... Matt 'Owned a Mac for 8 years but still cant figure simple things out!' Allsop!
  7. Hi Guys, thanks for your replies, and sorry for the delay posting back - Hope you had a good Christmas and New Year! had the box apart, if any one has ever looked in the receiver there is a 4 boards connected to the front one, one housed in a metal box and soldered shut. methodically checked and traced the circuits on the open boards and nothing out of order. heated the solder and opened the housed board, found a broken connection on the toroidal instructor. very simple to solder back in and is all 100% working now... phhewww! If anyone else gets stuck with a genio having had it apart i may be able to help a little! thanks again, Matt 'right, back to work' Allsop!
  8. Wondering if anyone is able to offer some help and shed some light! Genio receiver is displaying an error when powered, RED LED's on sides of Receiver box and under Channel 1 ADJ button once pressed. Tried Channel 2 and neither power the motor (Hed M26) . Receiver box displays error with motor attached and without. I have tested all pins on the motor/receiver box cable (5pin/5pin), and cannot find any problems with it. The motor doesn't get any power to it. On a shoot yesterday the AC was putting the motor on the camera and it fell out of his lap, only 4-6" onto a wooden floor from a squatting position. Doubt it would have killed it as they are pretty tough but cant have done it any good! Unfortunately I only have one motor at the moment, so cannot test, I think problem is in the receiver box as error shows with it connected and without. The FF kit has been ok for the 2 months i have owned it, used it on 6-7 jobs. A few calibration problems - Hit ADJ to center > Hit ADJ again - lens goes far then automatically close, motor returns lens to center and instantly moves a small amount off center (close focus i think) ... were these tell tail signs of a starting problem?! Quick fixed the tracking problem by tricking the motor. Disconnect motor > set lens to just off infinite > using remote go to infinite and reconnect motor, would get all lens movement back. I made sure motor was at end before lens was to ensure motor wouldnt burn out thinking it had more lens to turn! if any one has any thoughts that would be most appreciated! A rather long winded explanation but thought at least you know the full story if you can help! Much appreciated. Hope alls well MA
  9. Cheers for the help there - sorry Mods can delete this if you wish - was working of my phone and google searched etc. Had a speedy purchase - went with a 100gb Archos AV500 with the travel tap... Read a few ppls kit lists and this one popped up regularly... Will let you know how it works out. Matt
  10. Hi guys hope all is well. Looking for a little help towards a recorder. Will be taking a feed from my Ultra sled and wondering what/how is the best way to do so?! Would it be fair to say that Archos seem to be leading the market in recorders - or at least a fairly affordable option. Has anybody used the archos 5 - the inputs require a dock annoyingly and would need to bodge one up from the DVR deck. Is an older model more suited to our kind of work? Anybody that could put some light on this would be helping so much. Or even point me in the right direction if info is elsewhere... I did do searchs but nothing came up. Hope all is well and everyone is busy Matt
  11. Hi there, I have my V25 that I am selling. Could be another alternative if you haven't looked into it. Dones RED and ARRI 16mm with no problem - think maybe the flyer arm might struggle. Not 100% though Get in contact if your interested or just looking for advice. MA Mail@mattallsop.com
  12. Hi there, I am selling a Glidecam V25 - I was in your position about 3 years ago and went with instinct. I am extremly happy I went down the steadicam route now. The rig is similar to the Flyer - can carry a little more if you are doing larger work. It flew a RED 2 weeks ago for a day and was very impressed with it. Either way the flyer and V25 are great rigs to learn and earn on. I am taking the plunge with an Ultra within the week hence the sale. Email me on mail@mattallsop.com if you are interested I am sure we could sort something out. Regards Matt
  13. Hi there, Upgrading to a full pro Rig - looking at Ultra sled arm and vest or similar spec please email mail@mattallsop.com if you may have something for sale. I am also selling my Glidecam V25 if anyone is looking for a good start up rig. Hope all is well, Matt Allsop 07748 845277 Based UK
  14. Hi buddy I'd give Mike Scott at www.steadi.co.uk an email. He has some really great cables for sale all built to order by himself - sure he could help out there. Hope all is well, good luck! Let us know where you go in the end. MA
  15. Hi Mike, how are you? Think Optical Support do, try these contacts: 02072 810 999 info@opticalsupport.co.uk I'd give them a try - if not they should have a number for someone else. I am certain they still do spoke to Robin at Tiffen yesterday and sure he brought up servicing there. Hope all is well buddy MA
  16. I also think the antlers could make matters worse for you. I have seen quite a few people who operate in high mode and have stiffening device attached. Good quality wire attached down the sled and anchored onto monitor batteries etc. Helps stiffening and stops wobble. Could be hard as urs telescopes way out of reach... Jus food for thought!
