  1. Selling my spare personal Preston system. This system has never been rented out, always with me on set. It normally worked on C Camera when not in Steadicam mode. Excellent condition with tons of cables, brackets, etc... Nice layout in Pelican Air 1535, so no need for a separate set bag. Everything in excellent working condition. All gear is G4 Blue dot and updated firmware. Instead of trying to list everything included here, I've attached equipment lists. Items selling: Preston FIZ G4 Complete 3 motor package: $15,000 Preston G4 Single Channel Iris Unit: $3,500 - SOLD Will sell separately or together. Buyer pays shipping or pickup in Atlanta. 10. Hi all, After flying my Volt for over 8 months with no issues, I've decided to sell my backup XCS Post, Gimbal & AKS. My preference would be to make a deal for everything, as this package is perfect for someone upgrading to a 2" carbon fiber post, or building a new sled. Also, I'm not opposed to breaking up the package either. Everything is in excellent working order, with some minor cosmetic scratches. Gimbal was maintained by Greg Bubb at XCS in late 2021, so in perfect shape. Pricing is based on less than 50% the cost new. Buyer pays shipping. Here's what I'm selling: 1. XCS 2" Gimbal with standard handle, 8" solid arm post and gimbal tool: $3,000 USD (can purchase collar for smaller diameter posts) 2. XCS Ergo Handle (regular operators): $800 USD 3. XCS 2" Telescoping Carbon Fiber Post with HD Cable & PRO connectors: $3,000 USD 4. XCS 2" Telescoping Dual Rod Monitor Arm: $600 USD (can purchase collar for smaller diameter posts) 5. XCS 8" Rigid Camera Dovetail Plate: $200 USD 6. Hill Docking bracket with GoreLock for 2" post, x7 docking collars, spare Gorelock Mag Dock for Moses Pole & Dual pin mount: $800 USD 7. Pelican 1600 case with foam inserts: included with purchase of entire XCS package. Please contact me with any questions. Thanks, Mark. XCS_5 2
  11. Hi all, Can anyone confirm if an older style XCS LT sliding baseplate is compatible with a PRO DB3? Thanks, Mark Karavite, SOC
  12. Hey Remi, I bought a Volt the end of last year. Knowing Tiffen has (admittedly) had some problems with the Volt, I think you're on the right track to continue to carry a spare. I went a different route, purchasing the new Volt 1 3/4" gimbal, and the new XCS 1 3/4" carbon fiber post with PRO connectors. I had a XCS 2" carbon fiber post with PRO connectors before, with a XCS gimbal, and I keep that as my backup post / gimbal. I also am holding onto my Wave for now. With all the above, including a MDR4 (I still had an MDR2 on my sled), cases, cables, etc... it was close to $30K, but I have a solid system and am basically state of the art from an equipment standpoint. People are starting to ask for a Volt, but that's not why I bought it. It was really Garret's and Geoff Haley's comments on the Walking Backwards podcast that convinced me the Volt was more than a crutch for guys with bad horizons. Flying neutral balanced and removing all pendulum effect is very nice. I've also lightened up my sled quite a bit. Where I used to add weight to cameras for stability, now the Volt provides that stability in a lightweight setup. Aside from the operating advantages, I think the Volt will extend my career, much like I feel my Klassen harness did. The downside is that the Volt is not as robust as PRO or XCS gear. You will have issues, and it's frustrating. I've had more equipment issues in the last 4 months than 30 years of operating. Some of the issues were my lack of familiarity with the best way to setup and dial in the Volt. Tyson at Tiffen has been very responsive about working with me on this. But some of the issues were straight hardware failures (I had a motor go bad in the first month) and issues related to design flaws (like an assymetrical gimbal). When it works, I really am coming to like the Volt features, particularly changing headroom via the push of the button. Larry McKonkey's button extender is a must. I'm sorry I don't have any experience with modifying a PRO gimbal for the Volt. I would suggest sending both post and gimbal to Tiffen for fitting, which I did. If you decide to pull the trigger, give me a call and I'll point out a few deal points. Best, Mark
  13. Twojay Dillon has devised a nice rear mount for his control box. There should be photos here somewhere.
  14. Hi all, Anyone have a recommendation for a great source for website creation, ability to edit video & reasonably priced? Need to spice up outdated web page. Thanks, Mark
  15. Alec, thanks for catching my typo. XCS is indeed making the 1.75" post. Alex, physics requires a smaller post will be slightly less rigid, but a wound carbon fiber post will be significantly stiffer than an aluminum 1.5" post. XCS does not compromise quality. Greg Bubb can give you the exact specs on stiffness for the 1.75" post. It's the only way to mount a M2 Volt gimbal on an XCS post. Like many, I've waited for someone to make a 2" version of the Volt, because I didn't want to give up my XCS post. The XCS solution of making a 1.75" post is a simple, yet elegant solution. I think it's the best, most rigid setup for a Volt available.
  16. My shiny new Volt M2 and XCS 1.75" post are in, so swapping over this month. Just wondering, are Volt owners holding onto their old gimbals as a backup, or is the Volt robust and never have the need?
