I would second the Actioncam vest. I have had it for 5 years and have found it more comfortable than any front mounted vest. I can stay in it a lot longer. Maybe it's just the way my body is built. I haven't tried the exo vest yet so I can't compare them. Although I really want someone to design an accesories that places the back mounted vest socket block where the Front mountedsocket block is. Just for door Clarence issues. It could be a slim design that curves around your body. Just a thought. Combine the two options back mounted vest with an optional front mount.... Anyone?

Ok, So I have been using the Teradek Bolt for some time now. I just wanted to say that I just finished a show in Austria where I used the system 6days a week for a month. The system performed amazingly. We were shooting in a castle in Austria. Inside with stone walls, out side in fields, there were many locations and the system was awesome the whole time. We never had any problems with anything except for a pinched power cable at one point. The Bolt was great because most of the time we weren't given time to get focus marks... ( the show was a hybrid Reality / Movie ) because of the idea of immersion for the cast, a lot of what was shot was live. Thanks Teradek for making a pretty challenging show a lot less stressful.

All I meant was the harder part of the equation was operating remotely. Obviously it's going to take a head on your shoulders and an eye to make it happen. I'm not a fanboy. Just being realistic of what people will see in this device. I don't think it's going to negate a steadicam. I'm not making a crazy statement. Put it this way. Try on a steadicam as an amature, it'll be like your on a boat. Pick this up as an amature... You can make nice movement slow or fast. Even in the singe operator mode. I love my steadicam and it won't replace it. But you have to realize the simplicity of the device. Get on the Movi boat or don't. People will probably use it with varying degrees of success.

Here's the thing. I went by the booth multiple times. I never saw anyone having trouble with it. Either figuring out how to use it or a malfunction. It seemed to work without hitch for hours. Im glad I've played enough Portal to make using this not too much of a stretch. It does seem like there's apprehension. The funny thing is the gear need to run this thing, follow focus, wireless video, Steadi arm...., we all own. To be honest I'd rather have it on a Steadi arm than a easyrig. You could possibly get in smaller spaces with a vest an arm. The easyrig makes you a Christmas ornament.

To be honest I didn't want to put it down...

If you play video games your gonna be in your element with this thing and make it shine. If you have never touched a remote control car or video game, you have a long road ahead of you getting used to operating this.

The larger version of this will be what is the game changer. The M10 is going to kickstart the ideas of how to use this. I think the M20 will be best suited to being attached to a steadi arm or an easy rig. But after touching this thing at Nab... It is the future of a lot of filming. It's smooth, intuitive, and easy to use. the Majestic mode will take the most practice. if you want to use this thing as a steadicam (single operator) you will be practicing a little bit with framing. But really, if you dial it in with the software I can imagine you will be able to frame just fine after some practice. In the 2 person mode you could have a PA run with the camera, heck you could have the most uncoordinated PA actually holding the rig. As long as he can hit a mark and you have someone operating remotely that has talent your gonna come up with a pretty sweet shot. I hate to say it but the addition of another operator is really not that big a deal. The skill required to hold the device is marginal... if anything. For all of you thinking this isn't gonna take your job as a steadicam operator... your right. it's not gonna take it, it's gonna change it. Eventually. Also, the M10 is light... I could run around with this thing for a while... Even with the full 13-14 lb set up... It's surprisingly light. It's not gonna break anyones back. The people that are still using large cameras have a while before this infects your part of the industry but not long.

I haven't been able to get the flip function to work which is a problem. The guys at Ikan said there might be a firmware update in the works. The manual does say it should be available. Ill be at nab on Monday. Workin the rest of the week...

Chroziel v-mount tripod plate.

I'm selling a Chroziel v-mount tripod plate. If you haven't ever used one its nice because it pulls down the back of the camera keeping it locked in tight. Sometimes Sony plates have a little play in them and the camera ends up wiggling a little bit if you tilt too far. This plate keeps it pretty secure. It's a $1080 on B&h. I would like to get. $ 700 for it. Pm me if your interested. Here's a link to the B&h page http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/578706-REG/Chrosziel_AC_401_130_Quick_lock_Camera_Plate.html

Ikan MD7 1100 nit monitor vs the Marshall transflective
Joshua Gitersonke replied to Joshua Gitersonke's topic in Monitors
Hey Joe, for the moment I'm just takin her for a test run. But I like what I'm seeing... In other words I'm seeing what I need to. So its looking good for the Ikan. So far I haven't had that moment where your searching in the sunlight for your frame with a pit in you stomach hoping your not starting a new career as a barber. Another feature of the Ikan I like is that it has both hdmi and Sdi inputs and converts the hdmi to Sdi. With all the camera possibilities out there it's good to have options. As for more reviews with other monitors I don't have plans to do it now. I will be doing some more with the Ikan though. It's been rainy here in New Orleans so I haven't been able to do anything else yet. This monitor has a couple of user frame lines. Very configurable, Line size, color, placement. More to come when the sun comes out! -
Ikan MD7 1100 nit monitor vs the Marshall transflective
Joshua Gitersonke replied to Joshua Gitersonke's topic in Monitors
Hey Joe, I got the Marshall because it did pretty good in the Great monitor shoot out. But again in the pictures it hard to see what real world results . It's been a pretty good monitor though. There are things like ghosting and bad viewing angles that I don't like, but for the most part it has been a petty good monitor. I don't like the purple anti reflective. coating either. The MD7 does have more reflections as I think it doesn't have an anti reflective coating. But... That said I can see the focus and judge the exposure in bright sunlight on the Md7 better. -

Ikan MD7 1100 nit monitor vs the Marshall transflective
Joshua Gitersonke posted a topic in Monitors
Ok guys, I recently got my hands on an Ikan MD7. It has 1100 nits and is a pretty sharp little monitor. It was easy to focus with, easy to see. The viewing angle is really wide, something that the Marshall doesnt have. I have always fought with the viewing angle on the Marshall. I was always pretty happy with the Marshall for a lower budget outdoor monitor. But after using the Md7 the Marshall sort of leaves something to be desired. More to come Here is a video of them side by side on my Rig. http://vimeo.com/60904187
