  1. The one Curt tweak or invention that I remember fairly well when looking at a Sachtler arm was the method of flipping from regular to goofy - no "aircraft" quick pin - which made the arm very sleek and friendly in that region... perhaps it was a bit more difficult or required a tool (I can't remember) to make the flip, but it was clearly different than the other manufacturers... Jerry What I found interesting when I did the Artemis Workshop last year with sachtler was the fact that you take off the top stage and the gimbal and put the gimbal back on upside down for low mode. That way you can use the gimbal in the usual way when operating low mode. I don't know if thats also the way with other systems but with my U2 it is not. Markus
  2. When using your iphone for level why don't use the horizon app?

  5. Thank you for the info Alfeo! Did you try the solution with the diode? If it works could you please share some pictures on how you did it. I haven't done anything to my rig yet and I don't want to start frying the power chords :-) Greets
  6. Hi Keith! I'm getting the Ultra 2 since in my line of work I want to be prepared for all sorts of cameras from No- to Big Budget Productions. I'm in the USA again at the end of march but it's just for a couple days in Miami before I leave for the Bahamas  So no time to drop by and have a beer. Oh well there'll be another time
  7. Hi Lars Erik! When I did the eastern classic workshop in December we had the same problem and I think Peter Abraham and Dan Ikeda two of the instrucors fixed it by drilling another hole in the lowmode handle. The handle we had was drilled the wrong way. I guess tiffen send out some handles that way by mistake. Maybe you should call and check that. Greets
  8. Hi Thomas! So far everything is going well. I'm about to order my steadicam to start flying. How are you? hope you had a nice new year! Greets
  9. Hi Everyone! I'm starting of with this wonderful career as steadicam operator and was wondering if some of the established operators in my area could maybe assist me on how to get going. I have some questions about things like insurance, how much to charge for operating and if someone has some things like videoassist equipment for sale I would be happy to make an offer. I would also like to meet as many future collegues as possible. A good way to do that would maybe be the crew call crew united has on february 18th if someone other than me attends this event. Thanks in advance. Greets. Markus
  10. Thanks Robin and Alfeo! That solution should pretty much fix my "Red-Problem" :D Best Markus
  11. Hi Alfeo! Did you find a solution for the Ultra2 to be able to hotswap? I'm right now looking around for a suitable solution. Best Markus
  12. Hi Jade! I've taken a workshop in Germany wig Sachtler to get to know the Artemis System and I really liked the cine HD a lot. After taking another workshop with Tiffen close to your Hometown Atlanta I must say I tend to taking the Ultra 2 more than the Artemis HD. Both Systems are pretty much the same when it comes to payload of the arm or operating and some of the adjustment features if the Artemis are really great but for me although I am from Germany and could get much faster service for the Artemis, the Ultra 2 makes more sense when I comes to upgrading the system. Right know I can only afford the Ultra 2c version and will make upgrades like the motorized stage later on. The Artemis system is pretty much done the way it is exept for the fact that you have to buy an additional post for super high or lowmode. That possibility already comes with the ultra 2c. So for me it just makes more sense getting the Ultra 2c and having to send it to London for service is ok for me. I don't know if you have Sachtler service in the US but I remember Curt (the guy who designed the Artemis) saying something about that. The price is also pretty much the same for both systems since you have to add batteries and other accesories to both of them. I hope I could help a bit. If you have further question just write me back. Best Markus
