Will fly any camera Heavy and strong Super post gives you a lot of options Monitor and Digital level are awesome. Excellent boom range from the g70x Arm The negatives: Theres a crack in the moulded aluminium that holds the monitor mount (see pic) its been there since I brought it and no issue but be aware its there. The Smartsystem LCD bracket isn’t well thought out. There is no friction control in the screws to the LCD so its annoying and requires occasional tightening. It’s a heavy rig, as heavy as they ever made. Means its stable but heavier than it needs to be. The batteries included are rubbish, very old so I wouldn’t rely on them. Feel free to come have a test or have a chat Gear is currently located in Altona North, Melbourne, Australia $32000 AUD or $21000USD
  2. Hey guys, selling my well loved Silver Spring Arm. $7000usd plus shipping Its in top nick, well cared for and fully serviced by Hugo of Rig engineering last year. The arms a bit cheaper as its one of the earlier conversions and doesn’t have the later model D-links that the new ones do (Friction Control System on the steadyrig site). Never had a problem without it. Comes with three posts: 1 standard 0.625in (3a, EFP Pro, XCS) 2x 0.625in to 0.750 (Masterseries, Ultra) one is a top notch stainless piece of kit the other is a dodgy aluminium in case of emergency back up get me out of shit post. Its also over on ebay with more pics if you want to go that way, and yeah its bit priceyer there as ebay are thieves with their fees. Cheers Aaron
  3. Anyone have any hands on experience yet? Price, HDMI to sdi (and vise verse) compared to the Camwave it looks good on paper...
  4. Glad it all worked out Ian, had me worried there for a moment  Enjoy the rig mate, she did me well these last few years! Any yeah it does look like a nice cage, that may have to be my next purchase :D Cheers mate Aaron
  5. Randy i'll second the above comments. Through beaches, jungles, deserts (Salt, leaches and sand :P) I've never had any problems with mine. It works well, its tough, its easy and it simple making it virtually bullet proof. As louis said it isn't a PRO or G70 but for the weight range and $$ outlay it's a pretty good buy. Hugos a top bloke and easy to deal with as well. Cheers Aaron
  6. Back up a bit cheaper. Any hey with the backside dropping out of aussie dollar looks like its even cheaper for those non aussie ops
  7. Or, cough cough http://cgi.ebay.com/Steadicam-Flyer-LE-PowerJunction-Box-Brackets-Ex-Cond-/250872656722?pt=AU_Video_Cam_Accessories&hash=item3a692cf352#ht_1682wt_1141
  8. Up for grabs is my Flyer LE Kit, basically stock standard AB kit with a couple of addons to make it more usable •A 3x 4 pin XLR Power junction box with constant 12v out. •F Bracket •AB to v-mount (or IDX) plate to run V mount battery's on the rig •Manfrotto 482 mini ball mount on the monitor for a little more adjustment, and the good old Hoodman H700. Check it out on ebay Cheers Aaron
  9. Hey David, Other than running the cable from the one lemo port up top you've got a couple of options down there, firstly the battery wiring is easily accessible. You could either tack into it or simpler still swap your battery plates over for a plate with d-tap. If cutting wires isn't your thing the method I used, before finally hard wiring in ports, was to simply buy a third party battery with, you guessed it D-tap on the battery. I went for Globalmedia pro batts because hey the more batteries the merrier. Hope this helps Cheers Aaron
  10. Evening Will Big thumbs up for Louis, not only is he one of Aus's top ops but he's a hell of a nice guy to boot. If he's available they'd be silly not to grab him. On the off chance neither he nor James are available, feel free to shoot me a line (as yet another of those up and comers). Cheers Aaron
  11. Michael mate not sure if you've seen them but check out prompter peoples line up of ipad teleprompters. http://www.prompterpeople.com/teleprompters/ipad-teleprompters/proline-ipad-teleprompter.html or the cheaper http://www.prompterpeople.com/teleprompters/ipad-teleprompters/flex-series-ipad-teleprompter.html Easiest solution i've found. There pretty cheap and simple and have the benefit over the the small monitors or ipad mounted above the camera that the talent is looking into the lens rather than above (which just looks weird) Just a note it'll make your life easier if make sure you pair them with a laptop rather than an ipad or iphone as editing on the fly is a mongrel on both. Regards Aaron
  12. Lol mmm pizza. Ha, my very first shoot pre even a course was for a very good friend who promised excellent food for helping him out. He blew the budget and I ended up with Jam sandwiches for lunch AND dinner, it wasnt even a very good jam...
  13. Swimming in the murkey waters that is the Flyer LE's world I tend to get these offers atleast a few times every month. Marks spot on that if its going to look awesome on your reel or sounds like it'll simply be a lot of fun, its damn tempting to become involved. But from experience with the good old deffered contract, even on the most promising production with shots you want(bikini clad machine gun toating banditas), its a pretty good tell that all the 'how great it'll be talk' is just 'talk' If they dont beleive enough in there project to fork over at least a small amount of money (fuel and scotch at a bare minimum). If the people who stand to profit from the project dont think its worth investing in then why on earth should we?
  14. Still for sale, 2 days to go. Currently going for a steal Cheers Aaron Foley aaron@acfoley.com
  15. Okay guys I've just posted my backup Coherant Wireless Video Kit on Ebay. Great Kit, works extremely well perfect for someone starting out or as someones backup Kit. All cords, bits and pieces etc etc. Added XLR Jack on the receiver for more usability. Have a bid, grab yourself a bargain Cheers Aaron Foley aaron@acfoley.com
  16. Awesome Thanks guys, there's some extremly good info in those links + pics. Though after reading all that i've been left with an itching urge to modify the rig further, perhaps the sleds base is next.... Cheers Aaron
  17. Evening All I’m hoping someone can give me some advice on Flyer LE Power. It’s only been 5 months of flying but already the lack of multiple power jacks on the sled has become extremely frustrating. I’m in the process of building a power junction box splitting from the main power rail. Any advice on a generic plug type of interface? Currently considering mini 4 or 3 pin xlr jacks, but hoping for something potentially more useful. Also I have a number of shoots coming up in the next month flying various incarnations of the Red. While I’ve got most of the current draw specs on the gear, I’m a little concerned that running a red, wireless split, downconverter and Bartech of the sled rails may be pushing things particularly as the wiring in the flyer seems pretty fine. I’m taking a little bit of solace in the fact the Flyer LE comes in a RED edition but does anyone know whether this edition has the same gauge wiring as mine (the cheap as possible edition) or something a little more substantial? Any advice is much appreciated. Cheers Aaron
  18. Afternoon all, Well its probably time I said hello instead of just poring through the archives. I’ve been around for about 5 years as a Cam-op slash occasional DP and long time wandering photographer. I tend to shoot commercials and corporate works with the occasionally poorly funded short or feature appearing sporadically. Late last year did a workshop with Phil Balsdon at steadi-onfilms here in Aus then had the interesting experience of explaining to the blank faced man behind the desk at my bank what a Steadicam was and why I needed it. Starting small I’ve picked up the Flyer LE, probably need something bigger soon but so far its handled everything I’ve thrown at it and seems to be a good rig to hone my skills on. Every chance I’ve had for the past few months I’ve chased, tracked hounded every person (and various small animals) unlucky enough to visit me. Bringing me to yesterday where I picked up my first real paid Steadicam job. Nothing terribly strenuous, DP/Steadi Op on a music video in a green screen studio. Overall everything went fairly well, client was ecstatic and at the time I was fairly happy how things went. Though interesting enough one day later looking back at the footage I managed to siphon off, I reckon I could probably do better. I guess it’s a case of the more experienced you get the more discerning you become. Anyway hello and thankyou for all the info I've learnt from the forums so far, I’ll most probably have many foolish (hopefully not to foolish) questions for everyone in the near distant future. On a side note if any Aus Ops (or visiting ops) want to have a beer (its my shout) or need some one to lug around stuff for them my carting and drinking skills are exemplary. Cheers Aaron
