  1. It's your shutter setting. Video 30 frame/60 shutter, 24p/50 shutter. Should help. JA
  2. Most insurance will not cover on common carrier, ie airline. I had a Pro monitor smashed by Delta when the case fell off the baggage truck before my eyes as it was being loaded in the plane. I witnessed it, upon landing went straight to claims, where I learned, they don't cover electronics of ant nature. I was shooting for Delta in Atlanta. They promised to pay for the monitor when I showed them on the job. They renigged when they got the bill for $15K from GPI. Fed Ex is best way. JA
  3. I thought Craigslist was cracking down on prostitution listings! JA
  4. The transflective marshall is only 2 grand and is as good as it gets for daylight viewable LCDs. It is rather light weight and available with HD-SDI. ~Jess I have 4 of the Marshall 6.5" 3ghdsdi mutilformat outdoor monitors. I shoot in Florida and the islands frequently, I love them. $1800 at B & H. John A Oralndo Hello Jess, Which model Marshall are we talking about here? Thinking about monitor upgrade soon for my archer
  5. Richie, I took my marshals to my machinist and had a spud made that fit into gregs monitor bracket using existing Marshall mount. I was using Transvideo bubble level mount, but mounting that so it was level wasn't possible. I hope that helps. John Atkinson
  6. Brad, You'll need and HDMI monitor, or better yet a Black Magic HDMI to HDSDI converter w/12V power cable for the sled. After that, a lot of top weight. Best of luck on the focus, though! Take care! John A Florida
  7. I have three of these monitors and have been very happy with them. Plenty of menu options if you get the right version. No heat or viewing issues here in Florida. I love them. My 2 cents! John Atkinson Orlando, FL
  8. Run the onboard camera batteries, you'll need the weight. No need to power thru sled. My 2 cents. John A
  9. The techs on the TV truck will set that up for you on multi-camera shoots. John A
  10. I quit buying new batts and began getting them recelled. I am deep into AB batts/chargers so I'm very happy with recells by third party at half price of new. They come back stronger and lighter. John A
  11. EFP J-7 video zoom for sale. Works with IIIA sleds as well. Includes J-7 gimbal mount zoom, Canon zoom adapter cable and Fuji Zoom adapter cable. Freshly rebuilt by Terry West. $450.00US Thanks! John Atkinson Orlando, FL
  12. [sounds like your vibration is electronic. This can be the OIS being on in the camera or the Progressive scanning can't keep up with the camera movement.
  13. I bought one of the first BFD's when he first designed it. He did all the mods and upgrades at no charge. 10 years later both units going strong. Great service, great, reliable product. Got me out of many jams, as was stated, Jim always answered the phone. My two cents! John Atkinson Orlando, FL
  14. I just wanted to post some kudos to Howard and Rachael at MK-V. I was shopping for a new HD sled last year and I demo'd every HD sled. When Howard sent me the Demo Genesis he also send a nice case and all the cables ready to use. I loved the sled and bought it. When I sent in my old EFP for and upgrade I was really surprised at how good a a job they had done. It looked like a brand new sled. Every time I have requested information or parts, the response is instant. I moved to MK-V Genesis to save weight. The added benefits of moduality of all the components makes the sled the most versatile. I am a very high maintenance customer and they have put up with me so far. Keep up the good work! John Atkinson Orlando, FL
  15. I took mine to a machine shop and they cut the worn ends of, saving the expense of new set. Just a thought. John A
  16. I am still looking for an EFP arm in good condition ready to work for around $5K. If you have a spare or one you're not using, I'll take it. John Atkinson Orlando, FL johnatkinson3@mac.com
  17. Sound's like low budget feature, music video, stuff. If rate is number one consideration over ability it's not legitimate call.
  18. Most operators usually like to carry the least amount of weight for specific task. That set up looks way to heavy for studio work. I prefer wired lightweight adapters unless absolutely necessary, engineers are always trying to make the job harder than it has to be. If you want a long and prosperous career, you must be prudent in your physical demands early on. What focus do you use. JA
  19. That U2 was only a demo, but the one we are purchasing will have the TV Logic monitor instead of the Ultrabrite2. The reason I was using a TV Logic for PGM return is because Golf Channel has so many of them that they're turning into paper weights. It's obviously a little overkill to have a HD monitor for PGM when the fiber only supports an SD return. I have a couple of slim 7" SD panels that I'm shopping around for, because we'll also use one for prompter above the lens. I had Tiffen include a 2nd monitor arm in the PO so we can use the 2nd mount, so besides the weight, I wouldn't be totally opposed to slapping another TV Logic on there.. Therefore I won't have an artificial horizon on my monitor. I'll probably stick my bubble level somewhere nearby. It's been serving me well thus far.
  20. I think less is more. I don't want to become a lightstand either. I've used onboard lighting on several occasions and, as Charles said, if the set lighting isn't working, it isn't working. The only time I use onboard is for an eye light for sparkle. I use both LED Litepanels and LTM 50W mini HMI both effective. John A.
  21. Red says the One weighs 10lbs. That's stripped. Weight is contingent on Lens selection, mattebox, plate, bracketry, battery, drive mount, digital tape measure, etc. Every time I have flown it, it almost maxed out my rig. 35lbs capacity probably won't do it. John A
  22. My bad I have the newer 6.5" which has improvement. Framelines are stock but more choices, 14:9, 1:8.5, etc. I haven't had problems, but I haven' done DSLR's on this monitor since it doesn't have HDMI port. I still love it, and it was not expensive. JA
  23. As long as I have seen steadicam used for live TV most operators have had Tally, program monitor, zoom and focus. To attempt otherwise will only limit what the steadicam can do. I recall working with a video guy from another country and he commented that most US TV Steadicam operators couldn't hold focus. This is especially true in HD. JA
  24. I demo'd the sled in November and really liked a lot of the features. I didn't like the square gimbal, not compatible with my stuff. HD monitors can be picky about the signal going through the sled connectors. The Marshall 3gHDSDI would not consistantly accept the internal HDSDI signal. Everything else is well engineered.
