  1. hey guys!

I'm confused about the different facts regarding the weight I've found in the web. I'm well aware that it might vary little from system to system but it says that the arm can lift 30lbs. Right?

Thus if the sled is about 6 and a half as Marc claimed, the camera can weight ~ 23 lbs. But the other day I read something about 19 lbs payload capacity. Not much difference but still.

So if someone verifies that or tell me the results I'd very much appreciate it! :-)

And since the zephyr is 'tango ready' (upgraded with the g-40/50) the gimbal actually should sustain more weight, shouldn't it?

    best,

    Fabian

  2. I (not surprisingly with an movcam system) discovered similar problems with vibrations. Removing the release plate and tighten all the screws helped slightly reducing the vibration. And what is really helpful, are good runners! It helps you smoothen your walk.. I'm always wearing my 'smooth shooes' while shooting ;-)

Are you pro's using normal shoes or runners as well?

  3. Hi Tim

your work was outstanding well done .Could you please tell me more about the behind the scenes production details .Do you fly an archer?assistants etc

    Thanks

    Louis Puli (from Australia)

pswas that you at the last shot of the show waving at everyone behind the hosts lol?

    I started a thread about the eurovision there--> http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=11989&st=0

but if I may answer, on the show were two operators, Tim Tønnessen and Tom Moen both are working with an efp model, but I'd also be interested about who did focus? Did you have assistants or pulled by yourselves?

by the way it was a great show, especially the steadicam and the crane shots (those were really amazing!) and I'm glad for the winner germany ;-)

    all the best,

    fabian

  4. hey tim!

I'm really curious about the shots as well as the montage! (Yet I've just seen the rehearsal clips)

When I watch TV (mainly talkin about german tv) there are many whip pans in it.. sometimes way too much..

but in some situations like a cut to the next camera I think they're still cool!

All the best to you and Tom for the Show(s)

..I think after next week you'll finally get a vacation!?

  5. oh, the only question was who the operators are..

on the other hand, the reason why I started this thread is to discuss about the steadi work on the eurovision, I mean, when I think of last year, the "segway jump" was a huge discussion here.. (I don't know what's expected to happen this year..)

And when I saw (the second video I linked) I've no clue why there are both operators running side by side. Maybe someone can tell me what they're doing.

  6. hey guys!

Since yesterday the rehearsals for the upcoming eurovison song contest have started. I watched some videos on youtube to check out the steadicam and operator(s)...

And I noticed an interesting 'setup' i havn't seen that way before, there are two operators (Johan Sandklef is not operating... by the way does anyone know, who's operating?)

    Some interesting videos:

    (at 1:48)

in that-> both operators running side by side, what is that good for? ;-) http://www.youtube.com/user/eurovision#p/u/8/XVvqCeI2mto (at~ 2:45)

Actually I just wanted to start a thread about everything that belongs to the eurovision song contest... (of course about steadicam work and not about the music... You know, there's a button on Youtube, where you can turn off the sound! :-P

  7. thanks charles,

I know, I should practice more the basics as line exercises etc... and I'll do it..!! I practice the slow moves even very often, and some of those are quite good, but not good enough for my "demo video"...

You said holding lockoff, I dont know excactly, this mean fast stops (after run, tilt, pan..) Am I right?

and sorry for my "english", it isn't perfect.. ;)

    best regards

  8. Hey Afton,

thanks for your feedback! Until now I havn't worked on many productions with spectacular shots so, as you said, I just made some shots with my family

I renamed the video now. But next year I gonna put a "real reel" together after I'll have done some more productions..

    all the best,

    Fabian

  9. Hey guys,

I´ve been steadicam operating now for 1 year. - just a small, bad system, but it‘s just for practicing..

I am 16 years old and still in school but I really dream of becoming a professional op.

Now I´d like to show you:

    My First STEADICAM REEL

If you have any criticism or suggestions, please let me know!!!

    best regards from Austria,

    Fabian
