  1. Hi Gary, How could I know if I have the new BVB07 or the old model?
  2. And also for all the previous delay tests, it would be interesting to know which firmware the monitor runs. Some results seems different and may be the firmware version has something to do with, just guessing... On my "DP7 Pro HB Firmware Capicola 3.0, Image Engine 3.1.1, Hardware Interface 54" the latency is about 3 frames. Which firmware version do you have? What is this firmware patch? Is it the next firmware release? I've been searching on SmallHD website for "patch" as keyword but I've found nothing. David
  3. Hi Brooks, I also experiment this issue but fortunately it's very rare, and when it occur I simply "reboot" the monitor by power it off and on again. Our monitors are computer with only one task, display the best picture. If this issue show up more often I would request the SmallHD support. David
  4. I've send back my DP7 HB once, the horizontal indicator was getting mad after one hour or less due to heat. The motherboard has been change and since I haven't experiment hardware issue. So I don't consider my DP7 HB as a faulty unit, but it seems that the HB and only this version as looong delay! The intermediate connections don't cause delay, it only degrade the signal quality. Delay could only be generate by a signal processing. At the moment the only thing I don't understand is why the HB version have more latency then the SB, both are base on the same LCD technology!
  5. @Jens: what do you think about the rainbow HD outside by a sunny day? And did you have a chance to compare it to a SmallHd DP7 HB?
  6. Of course all cameras have a processing delay (capture, debayering, apply REC709 lut) before output the HD-SDI signal. It's usually done in one frame at 25fps or less. We are able to notice a mismatch between sound and image if the difference is equal or over 2 frames (@25fps). It would surprise me if Alexa output delay was over 1 frame, otherwise we would be able to notice a delay on every monitor. Afton detect a 4frames delay, so this means that smallhd monitors generate a delay of 3 frames (still @25fps). The question is to know if the delay in the SmallHD is due to a hardware too slow, or a software (the firmware) not fast enough? If it's the hardware, we will have to wait for the DP8-Pro generation. But if it's firmware sensitive, as I hope, SmallHD may be able to reduce the delay...
  7. Thanks Afton, and now that is clear that SmallHD has a delay, does someone has done the same check with a Transvideo CineMonitor or Rainbow HD?
  8. I don’t understand guys telling they don’t see any delay, it’s so obvious to me at each beginning of take with the slate. Whatever the camera I work with (Alexa, F55) same result. For those who doubt, clap your hands in front of the lens, and watch the image on the DP7, HB or OLED I’ve both, you will heard the sound at least 3 or 4 frames before your hands claps. I’ve ask SmallHD support for a possible improvement, here is their answer: “There is going to be some delay between the camera and any monitor that is used. We have found in our testing that we fit into the industry standard for the delay. “ The pixel to pixel function without improvement could be troubling. I ask SmallHD to add an pix to pix indicator in the next firmware. Once I give the OLED to the director, keep the HB on the sled, but he involuntary select the function, the monitor wasn’t lock, and it took me time to understand why he ask me to leave so much air over the head! The horizontal indicator is better than nothing, but I really which we could select another type of indicator like this [--- . ___] SmallHD should really consider an improvement in the way to show the level. Even with those issues, I still love my two DP7-Pro monitors and I always looking forward for improvements in the next firmwares. David
  9. Hi , Interesting topic, but nobody speaks about the noticeable delay on HD-SDI input that have the DP7-Pro HB. Question to those who have both SmallHD and Transvideo monitors, does the Transvideo have the same issue? If yes, is it worth or better? David

I have working a lot of times with preston units but I can’t remember what size the Lemo 304 connector is? 0B or 1B. I guess 0B, but I’m not sure, could somebody confirm? Thanks, David
