  1. Sweet setup Job  That thing cost more than my current car :o I can see how it's the perfect tool though. I'm just starting to pull in some bigger jobs at the moment, with bigger jobs come bigger cameras and my little flyer isn't up to weight. Hows the V25 going, would it fly well with a varicam ? Do you think they'd let me trade  Has anybody gone down the budget route with atv's/quads ? Would be very interested to find out if i could get setup with a workable solution for about £2000. Is it possible to soft mount on the back of a quad or is hard mount essential ? Cheers
  2. I'm looking for an atv (quads) that will support a steadicam setup. Whats the best way to setup with steadicam ? Also has anybody ever used an electric ATV or golf cart type setup ? Any info greatly received. Cheers -matt
  3. Do you feel confident operating ? I kinda threw myself in the deep end but managed to pull it off ! Now i have five music videos to film in two weeks and my feet hurt i''m operating so much. Try to start on low end jobs, perhaps paid promos that many peeps won't see to start with. What ever your going to look back and think your old stuff is wack no matter what. Cheers -matt
  4. I use Li-poly cells in my helicopters, but i'm not a fan at all ! I welcome this new development with open arms :D
  5. Hey eric :D Just realised who you are hehe. I'd recomend starting up a new profile with real name as i know you have nothing to hide  You still working for the beeb ? -matt

  7. Just to set the record straight (in my case) I give a massive shout out to Lynn ;) I have massive respect for everybody involved in this industry, and i'm sorry you have misinterpreted my comments. Happy new year all And congrats indeed to anybody taking the craft further :)
  8. It doesn't sound to me like Howard is trying to say he invented the idea, but rarther he has invested blood sweat and tears into developing the system that you see today. Credit where credit's due. This thread is about the AR technical achiement award not the history behind two similar ideas. I'm not saying the history should be ignored but thats a different thread surly ? To howard and his team congrats. :)
  9. I've had a blast with my flyer since i got it. Just got a couple more vids on mtv and all seems to be well with the rig. Have fun.
  10. I'd just like to wish you the best of luck in your new situation Robin :D Can't pretend this isn't a bit shocking though ? Cheers
  11. I liked what you shot for behind the scenes footage, It's always better when it's shot by the real crew and not just some clueless T@*&ER. Hope you got double pay over christmas BJ :D
  12. Yes mon Bring on 2006 and lets hope all our jobs are good ones !
  13. Hi Matt Yes you will need to re-balance for even the slightest change in lens weight, also your center of gravity will change on the camera. So for a heavier lens you would have to bring the camera backwards or aft, in order to get the center of gravity balanced over the post. Hope this helps
  14. I think your thinking of STD's Afton
  15. Good to see some recognition close to home for all that hard work :D -matt
  16. Very interesting post Chris I was on a shoot not so long ago where i was stood on a table trying to get a shot of an actor below me. The hole scene was about 5 mins long and we had to re-shoot about 10 times due to... well bad acting  The point is i knew my posture didn't feel right the hole time i was leaning over the table getting a birds eye view and booming down to a more front on view. I had my shoulders pushed forwards and the rig was well out in front of me for the birds eye view. The sweat was pouring of me and i had to stop a few times due to getting the shakes. Lucky for me i only had the light flyer on and and an even lighter camera. God knows what would have happened if i had been a full size rig. It's amazing what we will do in the spur of the moment to please a director. I guess experience isn't on my side yet but i'm going to be a lot more careful in future before it's to late for my back i guess. -matt
  17. Cheers Rob I'l send it ya asap. I'm working on a new video at the moment with this greate model i know. Will post that too if you like ? cheers -matt
  18. I loved it too, showed all my mates and they loved it also  Seen ong bak a while ago and it gave me the bug again. I love the bit where the guy face plants coming down the stairs :o (anybody want to team up and film some multi steadicam fight flicks in uk ?) Keep um kumin -matt
  19. Man seems like all they do is throw some colour gradient's on top of the footage to fluff the edges. It's not hard to get that look but IMHO could be done better. Seems verry interlaced also from what i can remember. Filmed on sony's IMX format i belive ! -matt
  20. Cheers jay Thanks for going to all that trouble ! I originaly missed the steadicam bit but caught the end where they made the home built setup. Then as if by magic ben's post appeared :D -matt
  21. Sure sounds impressive where can i try one in uk ? I would be able to give a realy un-biased review,i have owned a flyer for quite some time now. I feel restricted to using infeerer cameras and lenses, my rig just can't handle the setups i want to use. -matt
  22. try this link click me i'm special :o) Although i own a flyer and am verry happy with it i would kill to be able to hold more weight with it! -matt
  23. I'd like some advice on looking after my Flyer springs ! Those squeeks don't go down too well with the sound man ! -matt
