  1. here are some pics of the bottom alen bolt section of my steadicam flyer. and I seem to have buggered the alen threads by using a key that was a tad to small for the bolts. thus rounding off the little bleeders and leaving me with a pretty useless rig. I'm pretty disapointed with the bottom section on a hole but the rest of the rig is remarkable and i'm verry happy using it. Can anybody sugest a quick fix and possibly an upgrade option if you know any. Cheers Matthew Burton Planet-mu.com
  2. I have been recently offered a job filming for a TV company who have offered to do me a website in retern for 3 seperate location shoots. I really like their websites so i have asked them to send a contract down. Has anybody else had payment for jobs in a similar way ? Cheers Matt.

  4. :o Hey Jay! Nice to see you getting some darn work already. When your ready for film cams i'l be right by your side with a pencil & notebook. Out of interest, whats the best way to learn about film cams ? assit perhaps ? Anyhows be shaw to let us know how it goes and good luck mate ;) Matt.B
  5. Just out of interest my girlfriend wants to go to Ravensbourne next year. I'l probably move down to london with her if we dont kill eachother first. I'l be happy to let anybody fly my Flyer if it's of any use to you. My experiance with educational institutes isnt too good. At East coast meadia where i was a traniee cam opp/Editor we had a Sony HDCAM and 30 foot crane that was never aloud out of the box. It's criminal i tell thee, but eventually i got the techy in a head lock and they had no choice but to let us play with them. PS Mikko are you in the land of jock's as we speak ? Matt.B
  6. Hi Howard :) I'd love to see the "MK-V Lite" and have a play if poss. I'm doing alot of filming with my basic flyer in manchester at the mo, the M62 is my new best friend aargh. Anyhows if poss i'l give you a buz next time i got some time to kill (will probably be waiting for musitions to sort their hair out or sumut equally shallow) I'l drop in to MK-V for an eye opener if it's kwel ? Cheers Matt>B
  7. I have slight curviture of the spine from birth and as a result my arse sticks out a little more than it should, and the pot belly is a little more pronouced. Now apart from my slight afliction i find that operating seems the help my back. Due to the vest forcing me to straighten my back and assuming correct posture. I'm no doctor but i'm sure it's doing me the world of good. However I normaly only operate my "flyer" and due to it's light weight can operate for hours on end with only resting the sled close to my body. I see it as a gental beginig to my carear and will eventually move onto full size rigs when needs be. I could sumize by saying a full size rig would be even better for me but perhaps it's wishfull thinking, i duno but live in hope. PS yes you could say i'm also cursed with bad spelling but i have always had bigger fish to fry. Matt.B

  11. just uploading the pics now to send you. Yeah it does help with the bats downward I've been trying out a few hundred combinations at the moment. Realy loving the arms on the fly adjustments :D The heavy cams fly just as well as the light ones also. I have a dsr570 with light and fuji lens flying smooth as hell. Cheerys Matt
  12. Well i'd love to see the reel but alas my mums pc aint up to it. I guess it must be good due to the lack off response. Matt
  13. In plain unpatronising english YES! you could pull it off after a few days practice if you have a good teacher! and you are a good student of course. What you need is a steadicam flyer or similar rent or buy either way. see pic - This is my flyer from optex UK The main thing you have to understand is that you will only learn so much on your own. You realy need to take a workshop if you plan on getting more work using steadicam. But with some good advice you could be doing some basic tracking shots in no time. One of the most important things to learn befor operating a steadicam is balancing the camera on the sled a and making sure everything is set up perfectly. If your setup is even the slightest bit unbalanced the shots will be unsteadi and operation will be harder. Hope this helps Matt.
  14. Well finaly after a long long wait and some greate advice I finaly have my first rig :) :D Here are some pics from a music video i'm shooting at the moment - Thanks Robin you helped me out no end in a tight situation. Cheers Matt
  15. Hi howard, To post a pic you need to have it uploaded on a webpage already, then when you want to include a pic on here you just link back to the original webpage. IE: the pic below is http://www.mk-v.com/images/ME-IN-THE-APU-192.jpg anyhows i'm sure somebody can host some pics for you. 17. Yeah Mikko funny that isnt it :o  Great linkz guys some realy interesting stuff their. Did anybody watch the ford KA video on the hovercam page ? Was a great add but i never seen it on tv in the uk. Not surprising realy the adds we get in the uk are normaly diabolical. Cheers "Matt Aaargh i'm on 56k for a bit while i move house Burton"
  18. I have been interested in remote control hellicopter filming for some time now. One problem is the small size of the hellicopter that can make it quite un-steadi in the air. I wounder if it could be possible to design a small steaicam arm that would hold a small sled and camera, then it could be fixed to the R/C hellicopter. The cam only has a lens and a box with the ccds in it, and so is quite light. The arm that holds the mini sled and cam wouldnt have to hold much wieght and could be verry small. I think the hole micro steadicam and cam could be lifted by a good R/C helli. If anybody has any ideas i'd love to hear them! Cheers Matt.
