  1. I held one of their 3d remote focus kits in my hand at a trade show last year. Seems pretty solid and well made. Definantly not as plasticy as Id have expected prior. Didnt get a chance to put it on a camera to test out, so cant comment on performance .... just build quality! From memory it was around $20,000 US plus motors for the 3d system. Park - please correct me if I am wrong! JP
  2. Hi Brian. Just sent you an email. Have those parts for sale in great condition! If you didnt get it for some reason .... jamespuli@live.com.au JP
  3. For those who dont know, Joe is a legendary / infamous sports cameraman / steadicam operator here in Australia. Pete - As far as I can tell, it was channel 9's OLD rig that didnt work properly anyway! (Model 2 thin non extendable post, gimbal and topstage with custom base and a Panasonic monitor - looks like a beefy 1st gen Flyer). Horrible, Horrible thing to fly! With no doubt, the worst 3a arm I've ever flown as well! JP
  4. Contact Hugo at Steadyrig. admin@steadyrig.com www.steadyrig.com I had the same problem and he fixed mine for me with a nice tools free lock off! JP
  5. And half an hour later its gone! Good to know ebay is always on the hunt and actually acts on this sort of information!
  6. I think its back everyone! http://cgi.ebay.com/CP-Steadicam-EFP-System-w-Vest-Mounts-2-Cases-/170677132019?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27bd265af3#ht_506wt_1109 He also has a Sony EX1, a Canon 1d, a whole bunch of lenses and other stills gear, a 21kw generator, guitars, amps etc. Is this the same guy? JP
  7. Topic says it all. I know they're pretty rare, but though I'd put it out there! Looking for a Pro vest to suit someone 5ft8-5ft9 ish. JP jamespuli@live.com.au
  8. lol Thomas - i wrote that post 5 years ago, before I called myself an Operator, because I was a Specialist Steadicam Assistant, and regularly worked with many of Australia's top Steadicam guys. Some times I was already on the job as a 1st or 2nd AC, but others hired me just to look after the Steadicam, mainly when guys were day playing. Needless to say the operators I was working with loved it. To this day, I still "wet hire" my rig to other operators (mainly DOP's who can like to do Steadicam) and I go on the job with my rig, build it, set it up, do everything with it except operate.... and then pull focus for the job. Its great fun, as Ive got a great group of clients who I do this with. Plus as I'm an up and coming operator here, it allows me to take a step back, watch and learn more. Now that Im being put in a position to choose my own assistants alot more, I will still generally do most of the balancing of the rig myself (just because I prefer it at the moment), but will always either choose an AC who has done Steadicam before or go through it with them before the shoot. Especially when doing live TV and or while being tethered. And obviously the complexity of the job will dictate who I hire .... same as a DP hiring his Focus Puller! JP
  9. Jens - ive got a set of Gold Springs in perfect condition ready to be put straight into an arm! Email me - jamespuli@live.com.au Hope your well mate! That pro arm is serving me beautifully! JP
  10. Hey Jon. We make these .... http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=14017 But that only attaches the BDR to the rig and or to Jims rail mount. If you email Louis, lpulicam@tpg.com.au I think we have a prototype design around somewhere that mite suit your needs! In fact I know we have a prototype, that we haven't put into production because it didn't even occur to us that people would run with mixed setups. And now you've got me intrigued and I'm very keen to test it out to see if it works for this configuration, but knowing the design, theres no reason it wouldn't. JP
  11. Found their on post fine tuning To be an interesting concept. It kind of looked like Pro's vz gimbal fine tuning but on the post just above the lower junction box. Don't know if I'd use it but it was interesting. Thought their new monitor bracket over engineered and much preferred their old one!
  12. Thats awesome Ozzie! Thanks for posting! How long have the batteries been lasting? Think i'll order one anyway! JP
  13. BUMP Still on the hunt for a Gimbal. Im coming to LA for Cinegear and then NY straight afterwards so can pick up locally while I'm there. Open to all Gimbal makes / models newer then 3a / EFP. Im it will be going on a Pro sled (1.5inch post). Thanks again! JP jamespuli@live.com.au www.jamespuli.com 61-413-231-337 (aussie cell phone)
  14. Are we having the normal get together on the Saturday night after Cinegear this year? Or just the expo on Sunday?
  15. Hey Will how are ya? Theres a few guys around Melbourne, of varying levels. 3 very experienced guys, a bunch of up and comers and a few TV guys! I would put my hand up (as one of the up and comers), but I'll be in the USA. I know my dad Louis is floating around most of June as its normally a quietish time work wise. If its a local UPM I'm sure they'll know Louis, but his website is www.louispuli.com anyway! Or cell phone 0419 542 024 Are you going to be around Cinegear again this year? Hope to catch you there! James
  16. Was talking to the guys the other day, and I think their next release is an NAB follow up edition. Stay Tuned!
  17. Hey guys. A few of you may have already seen these, but some buddies of mine here in Australia made these little advertising videos for their rental company which have gone viral around the world, with even Arri featuring the Alexa video on their Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/inspstudios - The Arri Alexahttp://vimeo.com/22113367 - Cook 5 Primes http://vimeo.com/23674221 - the latest instalment - Sony F3 They're a bit of fun, so if you haven't seen them already, check them out! JP
  18. Well said Will! I do essentially the same as Will, but if I'm in 2 battery mode on my Steadyrig base, instead of extending the post, I'll just chuck an extra battery on the base. Ive found that gives me just enough if using a lighter camera. Otherwise, yeah ill pull the post out a bit!. My monitor (Boland HD) is on an old school bracket (the DeRose scissor one from a 3a I think it is), so i take the monitor off, invert the rig and put it back on (with the bracket upside down) and it works a treat.
  19. Nope, no reason not to use the red batteries. Unless u don't have the power cable to drive the red from your sled of course! I use them on my Steadyrig base all the time (through an AB to Vlock adapter plate) Works great and you don't have the wear and tear on your batteries.
  20. I'll happily volunteer to bring one back to Australia and show it around and test in our bright sun after Cinegear! JP
  21. Hey all. As the title says, im looking for either a Pro or MKV or BFX / Acme or Similar Gimbal. Finally time to upgrade! I have an upgraded / recently serviced EFP gimbal that still works great, that I would be willing to sell once I have the newer one! Thanks in advance! JP jamespuli@live.com.au www.jamespuli.com 61-413-231-337 (aussie cell phone)
  22. Hey Rob, yes I have global media pro batteries. Theres a few little things that annoy me about them, but otherwise they're fine. One of their 160w batts runs my monitor for nearly a day. I ran a digi beta camera from one of the 95w batts for like 2-3 hours from memory. That being said, I haven't had to power any cameras with high power requirements in a long time. And when I do, I tend to either use rental house batteries and or borrow some Anton Bauer's as Im not sure if they will handle the load. Delivery / customer service is great, you order, pay and they and they arrive. As el cheapo batteries for a 2nd rig, cant go wrong!
  23. Hey Daniel. The 5.5 day workshop Pete mentioned is actually in July just after the SMPTE tradeshow in Sydney. Theres a flyer for it in the news / events section on the forum. Phil Balsdon may well be running a 2 day workshop before then. Give him a call and have a chat 0418 276 297 Otherwise, maybe give Norbert a call. Hes based in Cairns, with his Master Series, bfd's etc. Im sure he'd be able to help you out in the mean time. http://electricimages.com.au/ All the best, and welcome to the community! 24. We made our own Side by Side rig for a couple of GoPros and stuck it to a motor bike riders helmet and shot him doing jumps, flips and stuff. Footage came out really well, and after a bit of grading, intercut nicely with that Panasonic 3d handycam thing.
  25. lol the more you eat, the more you get paid hey Mark!
