  6. I don't care if the dude is the poster child for an erudite mind or he picks the corn out of his shit to give it another try, if I see him in my hood I'll give him a more compelling view of my fists in his facial area. That operator showed some restraint, boy. I have a hot temper and have a feeling more than words would have started flying had that been me.

  8. Per Contra, Ron, it was a magical Guadalajaran mini goat hoof, not a gerbil claw. Idiot.
  9. I just did a force curve analysis on my BM and it was really interesting.
  10. Wowza! All of us here at the Casa de PRO were huddled around the computer monitor; watching with exhilaration the tremendous camera work of John Perry and excellent choreography by all involved to pull something like this off live! What fun!
  11. Tom, Jens raises a good point with service. At PRO the top priority is the servicing and repair of customers' gear if it goes down. They literally drop what they are doing to take care of you and get you back operating ASAP. When you call the PRO shop you will speak to one of three people who build the gear you own and are intimately knowledgable about it. If your gear does happen to go down, (even if it's a holiday or weekend, even in the middle of the night!) PRO gives you the two head guys cell phone numbers to call so you can be operational again quickly!
  12. Only you would be able to answer such a profound question.
  13. After much operator pestering, harrying, badgering, and prodding we have released these new camera dovetail plates. Enjoy!
  14. I have to admit that when Jack began to discuss the idea of a new sled I was hesitant to accept the idea. Our gear is so damn good and reliable already. Why mess with perfection? But when Jack, Chad and John Perry began discussing the details of the new rig I quickly became a convert to this new endeavor. Because of its modularity it's more like they added another head to the Hydra than made a new sled. In my very biased opinion this new addition to the PRO family tree kicks ass and will be a major asset to those working in live television wanting to upgrade to PRO's time-tested innovation, reliability, durability and excellent customer service. Sorry if that sounds like sales pitch, but what can I say? I love our gear and believe in it! Great job fellas!

I think you'll find that most operators prefer the gimbal as close to the camera as possible. I've heard operators refer to the mast of a sailing boat as analogous with this post/gimbal relationship. The further up the mast you get, away from the boat, the more travel the mast will have. Likewise, if your gimbal is at the bottom of your sled, (just for the sake of argument), and there is slight movement at the gimbal, this movement will be compounded by the time you reach the camera stage. This movement is easier to control the further up the post you move toward the camera.
  16. McKonkey is a true master! In the photo and segway video I couldn't help notice that he's using a PRO arm and not a Tiffen arm. Did he switch brands because the PRO handles more weight or what?
  17. Hi Frederic, Where would you recommend renting the rollaramp in Los Angeles?
  18. This guys films are hella cool. It's not steady, but the operating fits the stories he is telling...
  19. The operator in question is Jimmy Buffet. It's in Florida because the red topped hoochie-mamma is known as "Miami Junipero Sara." A well known call girl.
  20. This is going to be a really fun event and encourage everyone to come. The new PRO facility is really cool.
  21. Thanks for posting the link Alec. I was saddened to hear of their deaths.
