  1. I will be there on friday with a sunday check out. So I would be in (2 nights). Anyone else ?
  2. Oh I have those sometimes, I tend to duct tape evrything from cables to V mount battery but still...sometimes it happens. LIke a sweet spot. Oh it is a 3.800,00 USD rig and it is 2 years on the field, airplanes, cars, trucks, boats (mostly DSLR work on a wide 'n glide gigs).... damn I am happy that even works ! (I am looking to Zephyr, am I an idiot ?)
  3. Will try to look for some, out here in "wild" (eastern Europe) is sometimes hard to find anything a step away from a consumer electronics or accessories. Thanks for the advice guys.
  4. It is unreal how tall the video is. Completely different perspective out of the "same"video ... funny. I've flown just 24mm+5D on it, damn I wish I had a 35mm for this one. 50mm is a utopia but this lens is soooo DOF sensitive...
  5. First view this : then continue reading ... Concept of vertical video isn't new, I've seen many good examples in advertising, especialy in fashion business. Tilted plasmas, LEDs or some kind of screen makes me think how steady flight would look like...so I have prepared this (in 10 minutes) "rig". So any thoughts on this ? ( it is too late for shooting something today...maybe tomorrow ?!)
  6. Absolutely ! Imagine not having that shots ... I mean all other shot for the showreel wouldn't make it up for it !
  7. Check out this lucky guys work : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KpTniSPmmQ&feature=player_embedded#! I mean ... can it get better then this ?
  8. It took me 9 times before sun set down. This one was 7th or 8th run.
  9. As a newbie I tried to pull this one ... Single take, lot's of walking, stars, Don Juans, shadows, asphalt, dirt, bikes, dogs ... I guess it is hard to understand a language but the track is about modern stylists, fashion trends from magazines, TV and other media. This single shot took place in a remote area of eastern europe in a village called Cheminac in Barania county in Croatia. Oh yea it is eastern europe but I had some fun with my Pilot. It took me 3 hours of setting things up, and 11 runs. 10th run was our winner. F stop was locked to f7.1 and focus distance at about 1,5m. The video : Making of : Cheers !
  10. Hi ... I tried somethinig like this, in my case 5dmk2 + 24mm + PILOT ... I am very new in steadicam operating so .... LINK + you need password : jeajea
  11. I know, I told guys that this ff unit must be in 500 eur price range. It is worth 500, not more. I use it coupled with my 24mm f1.4 when I want to make very tight DOF shot and sometimes I use it with 50mm but rarely. 90% of time i have my 14mm f2.8 which even on 3.2 or 4.0 is sharp all over and therefore excellent wide&glide set. ( http://www.vimeo.com/11238373 ) When I agreed to be a beta tester I told them my wishes and thing they can do to make it more usable. Must I say they didn't listen to me. Only thing I really like are the connection options for sachtler plates or manfrotto plates but it is a minor issue. Motor it self is a noisy one and yes....kind a playstation insensitive but you can get the shot U need. I am not saying it is worth that much guys ask for it. I just made the video ... I mean ... I am looking into buying a BFD + M One as we speak because I need more accuracy for 50mm or 85mm. I think they fell on their head when they discussed the price. Accuracy rate is under 50% according to my tests.
  12. Many older frustrated SAOs hate this little thing. I am just saying you can play with it, it is far from perfect but it can be done with some practise. My friends made it, they are selling it...don't spit in my face. I just made the damn video. I still do the steadi shots (2-3 sec) for my productions ON MY OWN...I turn that wheel and from time to time I get focus right. Oh yess I do edit it too. Maybe in USA is a crime, but here it is way to survive. Now try to put your 20lb camera (I have one of those damn things) on TANGO. Ou yeah...my ass.
  13. I hate it to. I am just saying that I can get few shots that I need for my production. That's the idea. If I need something more important I rent an operator with a big rig. But most of the time I need few simple shots and usually I have time to try to do it in a few takes. Here where I live there are 2 (two) steadicam operators that are worth renting. That's right...I live in the asshole of the world, look it up under Croatia.
  14. Original intention was to make a ANY type of usefull FF unit , very light and small for my OWN gear. Idea of production wasn't an optinon, I just wanted a unit that can help me with this DSLR story. I shoot/edit/direct my stuff ...oh it's not much but still.... That is why I got my self smallest steadicam kit... to make a use of it from time to time. Try to put a DSLR with 50mm f1.2 on it and then try to focus it. I worked 6 years on TV ENG news crew and I know bog cams and I know how the big rigs work, but do U know how this DSLR thing works ? Comparing broadcast lenses focusing to DSLR focusing is a child game. Try it sometimes.
