  1. I was just quoting the standards from the IEEE802 website (it's in the PDF that I attached.) "Based on USA Standards Institute, USA Standard C1, Prepared by the National Fire Protection Association, NFPA No. 70."
  2. I found this document that is very specific on this issue. In confined space, such as chasis mounting, the standard only allows for 5 amps. This is kind of unnerving for me! http://www.ieee802.org/3/af/public/nov00/vaden_1_1100.pdf Current carrying capacity of conductor in free air. 3. I think the ammeter would be less cumbersome...
  4. Does anyone know what type of wire is used for power in the Zephyr? That would also have an impact on the total amperage. 22g wire can handle somewhere around 7-10 amps depending on what type. Maybe I should install this on my sled:
  5. I'm looking for a focus puller for a Steadicam gig this weekend. It's a student shoot, so the pay isn't great. Please message me if you're interested

  6. I really like that distro system, Louis. I just made a simple P-Tap breakout for my Zephyr.
  7. The video out on the HPX 250 is on the dumb-side of the camera, near the front of the hand rest / zoom rocker.
  8. Just got a new one for the thread: "Hey Alan, we are really interested in using you. We are looking for a videographer that would film behind the scenes footage, we wouldn't be able to offer any pay but it would be a great learning experience. Let me know if you're still interested." My response: "I've spent quite a deal of money investing in my equipment and a lot of time and money during film school already. I have years of job experience, and the fact that you are trying to get someone to offer their time and equipment for no pay is appalling to me. I hope that no one is naive enough to take you up on your offer. I apologize for wasting your time and mine with my application." This was through an ad that was looking for someone with equipment to work for three days on a narrative shoot.
  9. Media Blackout's first episode in our series of documentaries has been green-lit!

  10. I feel sorry for anyone who bought an Epic/Scarlet, and hasn't gotten it mostly paid off by now. By-By owner operator income! Let's get back to hiring people with talent, not equipment!

  11. You might have a bit of a problem getting a student rate with that kit. Most beginner and intermediate stabilizers won't be able to hold the weight, and the systems that can hold that weight rent for more than $600 (minus the operator rate).
  12. Band I was given: The CasualtiesFavorite song: Punk Rock LoveFavorite album: Underground ArmyFavorite merch: 40oz CasualtyLike this and I'll send you a band. Thanks, Tim Blackout-Heist

  13. http://www.rtmotion.com/ Has anyone used this system before? It seems like a pretty good deal, and I like the receiver size.
  14. Morgan Freeman on rumors of his death: "I hope those stories are not true…but if they are, I'm happy to report that my afterlife seems identical to my life when I was alive."

  15. DO NOT sub-rent your gear to HDPioneers here in LA. The owner will not pay you the listed rates, and if the gear is damaged, he will not consider it his responsibility to pay for the damages.

  16. It looks like our downstairs neighbors just smoked themselves out of an apartment.

  17. Looking for a good deal on a used Sachtler fluid head tripod kit. Will consider well used or broken.
  18. I'm wishing that those healthcare reforms were kicking in already. How far off is 2014?

  19. I asked Betz if they planned on making a tilt head for the Zephyr, and they said no. At the Zephyr's price point, I am neither surprised or disappointed.
  20. Sometimes, quitting a job just feels right.

  21. Eric, do you know what the price or estimated shipping date is for the cage?
