  1. Sweet, Fox offers direct deposit!

  2. This is cool. How do you take advantage of the second channel on the receiver end?
  3. Considered it, although I'd hate to dump a bunch of money into a new monitor and converter that I otherwise have no need for - only to discover that it has the same problem as an HDMI to composite/component converter. Which I assume would be the case. I'd really like to get HDMI going through the post. Still tinkering with it, and I think I'm actually making some progress. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks! I don't think that upgrading to a better monitor would be a waste. In fact, I would figure it would be quite the opposite. You might have a more versatile rig without having to gut it, and you will have a better monitor to use on projects or rent out. Why don't you go to a rental house and demo something, or rent it for a shoot; test it out. If you're in LA, I might be able to help you out: hdpioneers.com. We have HD-SDI monitors and Black Magic converters. Bring in your rig.
  4. The range is 300 ft, line of sight. The HDMI can handle anything you throw at it. Use it with a decimator for HD-SDI. I tried it our at Cinegear, and it worked great!
  5. Here is the answer everyone gets to this question: Buy the Steadicam Operator's Manual Take a workshop Buy the EFP DVD Use the search function on this
  6. One thing that I've noticed about all the Epics that I've used is that they hot swap when they want. Even if you have a REDvolt in the handle and a hot-swap on the back, it'll shut down sometimes. I've heard that from other people too. Maybe you haven't earned enough Red points... Try making your rig look super cool, first; rivet everything together, hang some camo netting over it, and look like a total bro. That may work.
  7. Have you thought about upgrading to an HD-SDI Monitor, and then just using a Black Magic HDMI to HD-SDI Converter?
  8. Take a look at the hot rod camera booth at cine gear. Word is, there will be a small company bringing whdi to the pro market.
  9. http://www.homedepot.com/Tools-Hardware-Hand-Tools-Levels/h_d1/N-5yc1vZashq/R-100147382/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&storeId=10051 Set it on the bottom stage. Works great.
  10. I would definitely suggest buying the secondary battery hanger, and you might even think about buying another one of the primary battery hangers to attach to the rod above the first hangar. Be careful though, if you notice that the sled doesn't balance properly after you overload it, you will need to have the gimbal serviced.
  11. Cine gear is next weekend at Paramount Studios. Who wants to go?!

  12. Fox Fuel TV shoot next Tuesday. Yayah.

  13. Why is my call 9 am if they don't even need me until the afternoon?

  14. I'm Steadicam operating on a Bic commercial tomorrow and Saturday. I'm pretty excited.

  15. I'm in need of a digital motor for a commercial shoot tomorrow. Mine was stolen out of a client's car, but Don at Loon forgot to mail one I had ordered to me. So now I am in desperate need to rent one for tomorrow and Saturday! 323.213.9427
  16. Avengers... Best movie ever.

  17. We get it, dude. New York is different than LA. Get over it.

  18. Okay, so I don't know how rampant this problem is in the low-budget market, but it seems like every producer tries to low-ball me with the promise of working with me, "on an ongoing basis." How ridiculous is that? I fell for it a few times in the past, so now I usually hit them with this: 1) the first job is worked at my full day rate, and subsequent jobs are negotiated at a lesser rate (the more jobs, the lower the rate is.) or 2) A contract is written up expressly guaranteeing a specific number of jobs within a pre-determined time frame at a negotiated rate. I usually get the response, "I do not sign long-term contracts." They get indignant about that response, but they don't understand why I don't like being low-balled. The nerve of people.
  19. Just bought one off of Amazon. You were right. iPad specific chargers are 2.1 amps. Thanks again!
  20. Thanks william. I've actually done that before with other usb powered devices, but I didn't think it would put out 2 amps (most are just one amp). I didn't even think about the higher draw iPad compatible chargers. Thanks!
  21. I know this has been asked before, but it's the one thing that keeps tripping me up. I need to build a voltage regulator that takes unregulated 14.4v DC and outputs 5v 2a. I've seen a ton of schematics, but it's like a foreign language to me. Can anyone direct me to a tutorial or something that I could easily understand? Thanks
  22. This idiot left $60,000 worth of rented gear on his car, and now he's surprised that it was stolen? If his insurance doesn't come through, I'm going to lose it!
