So I bought one of Bartech's wired focus controllers when I bought my BFD BDR setup, and quickly realized that it doesn't work with the Digital receiver. Is there anything that replaces the wried controller with the BDR?

I think that's what most of our footage looked like the first time we put on a camera stabilizer. You just need practice! Buy the Steadicam Operator's Handbook. It's a must! Taking a workshop will be the best way of learning, but this book is great for every beginning operator.

The epic does have a vertical flip function. I found it in settings - monitor - vertical flip. I was pretty pumped when I stumbled across that.

I keep a Berkey DSLR Baseplate in my diddy-bag for those occasions where I get to set to find that no one had the fore-thought to add a rail system to the camera package (this only happens on DSLR shoots). I also made myself a weight plate from a block of mild steel (about $30 from online metals). It's rigid, and it works awesomely.

I'm trying to figure out if buying a Scarlet is truly a good investment. So many people have them, and I don't feel I will be able to ask what I need to make a living off of it. I can get an F3 instead, or just wait and save for the next one. Maybe I shouldn't get a camera at all, or maybe I should just Getty a cheap one for messing around with. hmmm.

I had this problem with a red camera once. I figured it was because the camera was front heavy, and I had move the whole thing back on the sled. The RED didn't have a beefy Arri style dovetail, so I only had the thin aluminum from the Zephyr's dovetail holding the camera up. Every little, minute movement was, of course, amplified.

I would like to know this, too. I was doing some inverted low mode on an Epic, and I couldn't find the setting.

Ron - I found that the connector I bought was wrong and returned it. I actually had terry make one for me instead ($240). He does great work, and after talking to him, I found out that you can order the epic connector. He says he gets them from his local dealer.
