  1. I know we talked about this...but did you talk to Jack or Chad (can't remember). They've got to have that stuff and shouldn't care
  2. On a serious note...bigger Ben Hur wheels sure make travel over bumps and cables (and homeless) like butta
  3. I always enjoy watching assistants negotiate doorways with the wheels and a hill docking bracket. Also cool to see the beating the rig takes as it goes over cables/cobblestone/potholes/homeless people.
  4. Just curious...how much does this raise the camera platform?.
  5. There's one in the marketplace now
  6. My assistant has one...because you stole his Preston
  7. I still flip the camera, move the monitor, add warp grip etc... I find it takes longer to un-plug and re-plug all the cables than to re-adjust and re-balance. This whole process maybe takes my assistant and I less than 5 minutes (maybe 6 or 7 if a cute background lass needs a hello or a particularly good song is playing on the jambox). I think that taking an extra 2 or 3 minutes to make it right for me so I am comfy and can do it right the first time might save a take or two it the rig was rushed into a configuration that doesn't "feel" right. Of course if we really have to go as fast as possible I might forgo the flirtation with the stand-in and just flip it/deal with it but I have never had any complaints that 5 minutes is too long (at least on set...but that can be saved for another discussion in off topic). There are plenty of things happening on set that also need to be done so no one is waiting on me. Low mode is the only time I become envious of the Tiffen sleds! Plus that tilting stage would be wonderful to have so I can do a stupid spinning video of the rig in low mode while tilting up.
  8. I still sometimes use a pelican 1600 and fold the arm over on itself still room for Pro spring canister case in there too). I know many here do this too...I stole the idea from Mark O'Kane 20 yrs ago.
  9. Is that Chuck Jackson? The good ole days. Peter, looking for your awesome sled?
  10. I actually love to hear what others do to stay in shape...and what got them prepared to deal with this crazy job (except you, A-A-Ron Medick!!). I have been blessed to be busy for a spell, but almost too busy to be in the shape to drink that beer and not feel guilty about it (I hear a violin). I am trying to get back on the wagon and like reading about people's routines...and what beer they drink
  11. For these emergencies you can Also use dock rings on the top/bottom to hold it in place...or put a longer screw through and use a nut (not elegant, but should work in most cases...except yours since the screw was stuck) I have had a pro vz grip since they came out, but still carried the old assembly and a wrap-grip for that oh-shit moment which I hope will never occur. Not a 30 second fix to swap out...maybe a 5or 10 min fix at the most
  12. NY winters of discontent and glitter bombed locations are not always the best for the gear...or soul
  13. It's good to take care of your gear...sending it in for TLC once every year or two is a small price to pay to keep your gear (and you) happy.
  14. Alec...I might need to test my downconvertwr on your pdl ...having issues with mine. And if I already didn't have two tb6's I'd be at your door to buy your monitor!
  15. Camera Essentials/Patty Harrison http://www.cameraessentials.com/standby_camera_covers.htm
  16. They care moving locations this week, but I think they care still open until noon pacific time everyday this week, then back to normal need t week. Call them now, you'll sleep better
  17. Not sure what grade that screw is ( I believe it's 5/32nd like most Pro screws) but you'll probably be ok in a pinch while you call Pro and ask them/have some sent out to you.
  18. It makes sense because Canada is south of the equator
  19. If you buy direct from Yeager they will do anything ya want. I had them make me a shorter top shelf so the rig didn't hang off the end, but sat safely on a dock stand built within the bottom shelf's footprint. The rig is more protected that way...spins better...the monitor is more coplanar...and the gimbal goes higher up the post
  20. that plate was originally for Arri film cameras -- you need the other one which has more mounting options (or one of their newer plates with the slots).
  21. You guys are right...I was just thinking sleds and stellar service. Transvideo, Preston, Bartech, Klassen, and Steve Byro should also be... Uh...wait...scratch the last name! :-)
