The arm can fold over and still have a bit of room for some spare bits in a pelican 1600. Been shipping my arm this way for 15 yrs. For day playing the midular51 or Rocks ready arm bag is awesome. Fire that assistant and/or warn people not to use him

Need video clips of operators in action
RonBaldwin replied to Robert Starling SOC's topic in Operating
.I have a good deal of footage of me in don juan, no rig though. **Since voting for Pedro, I noticed that he has more footage of himself in the last few yrs than there exists of Garret from the past 4 decades. Maybe he'll chime in -
I have used mine for the past few months and feel the same as Job

wtb long pro dovetail plate
RonBaldwin replied to Michael Desiderio's topic in Steadicam Marketplace - Wanted
If it's the foot long slightly beefier plate, I have two and can part with one (never used) -
this must be the single most frustrating this for sled manufacturers (and thos who like balanced sleds) -- every few years AB changes their batteries up, and often they sit differently so they may not be centered

I noticed the mod thing too...funny how operators would do their own nods in their basement/garage or go to people like Seitz or Derose or Russel to make stuff for them that we take for granted today. Seems that most of those cool mods ops came up with were copied and integrated by CP I have a copy of the first Pro manual somewhere...love flipping through it. Imagine Teddy when he first saw the pro sled...I would have LOVED to have been there to hear the discussion

As long as they give me a trailer, hourly fellating and allow me to miss my marks with epic inaccuracy, I feel like a real actor and am ok being photographed. Did you ask if they see your feet?

It was a sloppy job just carving out two spots several yrs ago. The hip pad foam in the Pro vest is kinda hard but never had an issue. Might squeeze in another layer of softer foam.
-
Years ago I carved out two spots for my hip bones on the front pad of my Klassen harness. Been using my Pro vest a lot recently though (just easier in bad weather plus a little leg tingle makes me want to switch it up a bit) and keep it really short so it does not inhibit my legs when I wear it to yoga class

WTB: Nebtek Solar 7" or Nebtek Solar 5.6
RonBaldwin replied to Randy Nolen's topic in Steadicam Marketplace - Wanted
I really liked the 5.6...almost got one but Nebtek put a goofy connector on the back that is not compatable with the standard monitor lemo. I have had the solar7 for several years and it has worked very well, side by side comparison both are very close. The 7" is slightly brighter but all the menus/features are the same. Also, Nebtek would not put an Anton Bauer plate on it for me if I remember correctly. -
Delrin Discs for the Arm Posts..Where?
RonBaldwin replied to Osvaldo Silvera SOC's topic in Brackets/Widgets
Just use Lisagav on the post clamp ring...among other places -
I use it because I sometimes switch back and forth between from and back mounted vests, and when I use the back mounted vest I have to flip the block for hard mounting on my Garfield.

Call American Grip -- they ship all over and they make the darn thing so maybe it'll be cheaper than Tiffen has them?
-
Once you get a system down and figure out exactly where they go you'll be up and running before they get up to speed -- so you'll be rolling in under 10 min

Colin Hudson did this for halloween a few years ago
-
Another helpful tidbit is when traveling it will fit into a 1650 if the risers are taken off the legs (3 allen screws).
-
Forgot to mention that Lance and Phil are great to deal with (Lance owns American Grip and is super cool). Also, I have never needed a bag with the wider base unless on some crazy uneven ground or leaving it overnight at Jumbos (sometimes the girls mistake the stand for a pole)
-
I have the prototype American Stand with the 14" straps/wider base. It is nearly identical except the wider stance. I have had it for two full seasons on a show and I love it. I don't use wheels -- just beats up the rig and weighs a ton -- so this is the perfect stand for us. won't let me upload a pic...but you know what it looks like anyways

Check out Rock Steady/Tim Moynahan. Same stuff as modular 51 and you won't wait for months and months with little to no contact.
