  1. It just cannot work on an x/y stage...he said it will have to bolt onto the top of the post in place of the top stage (so possibly not tiffen sleds?). The weights he worked out on the bottom were really simple and cool
  2. It maybe can work on some other rigs? The way Curt explained it to me was that for rigidity and keeping everything exactly centered one has to bolt this directly to the top of the post, bypassing the x/y stage. So the Dbox (or Betz or whatever) would have to go at the bottom. I think he said he did this on his sled by turning it upside down. Of course I was less than sober and surfing Tinder during this explanation so I hope I got it straight.
  3. When Larry would come in on the Ugly Betty 2nd units, I would sneak away from my unit to skulk about in the shadows and watch him work (then I would pounce and we would discuss important stuff like martinis). A situation came up where they wanted to do a quick piece of coverage (no such thing really) without converting the camera or bringing in the other camera on the dolly. He said "sure -- give me 2 minutes" and grabbed his bazooka off his cart (with the Garfield already attached). That way he had a grdat deal of side to side/boom correction available for the inevitable missed mark witch might hose you if you were trapped on a spud. I went online that night looking for a bazooka for myself and somehow ended up on a FBI watch list
  4. Nice man purse buddy. That's the same case I use to keep my ones and breath mints in when I go to Jumbos. Mine has an NRA patch sewn on the top...hope yours does too
  5. The problem is you must be smiling in your picture so the system kicks it out. You have to look badass...shades help, maybe a tat, definitely some booze visible in the BG?
  6. I'm with Mark...everyone remove your monitors! Accurate framing is so last year. Freerange zen camerawork is here to stay!
  7. I want a bigger, heavier receiver so the director will just go sit at the village, watch the nice pretty xmission and stay away from me. I even make them use the a/c adaptor and an extension cord so it's like a leash to keep them from escaping the vicinity of the village.
  8. Hey buddy! Might have to make a trip up to see you and check these things out. Gotta think about it but may take 4 batts off your hands. Will they work on newer ab chargers like the tm4?
  9. http://shop.walterklassen.com/products/far-out-camera-body-mount-2 Klassen makes a body mount called the Far Out. There are some video clips on his website I think. Some cool angles for sure.
  10. Haven't used one in years. Makes my shots very organic. Shows with bad writing love my operating because it makes the show so much more exciting and masks the hackery oozing from the script written by the coke head flunky just shat out of the ass of filmschool
  11. I may have one sitting around the garage. Will have to look. Where are you located?
  12. This is beautiful...the grain looks like a Van Gogh.
  13. A note to potential buyers...these have the windows (new ones don't)!
  14. Oh my gawd. Uh...I would explore other options! Mine were pricey but no where near that. Lance must have given me the super buddy deal. Maybe I will sell you mine if you promise not to tell him ;-) Wish they were 8"
  15. I always find it amusing and frustrating how the producers will feel so victorious "saving" a few pennies by arbitrarily deleting ewuipment but not even noticing that it takes twice as long making up for it on set when the real meter's running.
  16. They are unfortunately too small for the humma but the stand with these wheels can be deployed as an escape vehicle when (not if) I break down. They do great of road.
  17. I am not sure the mounts are an off the shelf item at American, but they made them very quickly (haven't been over there in a while). They were toying with the idea of making them. The wheels/locks etc are standard on their large stands. If this set up was with 8" tires it really would be awesome.
  18. Love to know the name of "the other show" that has a ton of money...and also like to know if that op is running around in majestic or is there another op/remote. I know blue bloods has used them and as far as I know use additional ops and have a tech? Tom Willis can probably speak waaay more accurately on this. I really don't see how they can be as trouble-free and as quick as a seasoned op with a steadicam
  19. The American Grip 10" casters. A little big for my taste, but really nice and work very well. The locking rotation being independent of the brake is nice. I am in so many small locations In rarely use any wheels at all ( my stand as the wider spread so no bags needed). If I could not have my cart I would use them more. Ron
  20. this forum rarely let's me post A pic but I will try later today
  21. I got a set of wheels from American that they usually put on their crankavator stands. A bit big at 10" but smooth over cracks in the sidewalks and easier over cables. The wheels have great brakes and also lock the rotation.I hate the normal 8" casters most use...the breaks suck and the rotation does not lock. I think inovativ also has some that are similar to the American ones?
  22. Wish someone would make a steadicam or onboard friendly 5.6" daylight viewable monitor. I don't need the extra inch and a half to make me feel better about my self
