  1. Anyone flying with the DP7- Pro High Bright on their rig? Does the horizontal indicator work? What's it like out door in sun? Any info would be greatly appreciated!
  2. How many of you guys are flying an 8" monitor? How does it feel with wind? Thanks
  3. How many of you guys are flying 8" monitors? Would you recommend the 8" or the 6"?
  4. Hey Brant. Hows the 8" monitor for tight spaces? I really would like the extra real-estate in screen, but I'm not sure if its too big? Have you had any issues?
  5. Thanks gentleman! Oooh, TB7 sounds like it might be interesting. Have to wait to see what the price will be...
  6. Looking for some feedback on steadi monitors. I think its finally time to upgrade to a HD version, lots of choices out there and hoping some of you guys can shed some light. ( I still love my TB-6 though B) ) - Is 8" monitor too big? (yes, size does matter! :D ) - What HD monitor are you using? (Looking for something that is good outdoors as well as a good ref monitor) Here are the ones I'm looking at (in no particular order): - Transvideo HD Evolution Superbright - DP7 High Bright - Cinetronics G2 Thanks, Kelsey W.
  7. Yep, even on the far east coast of Canada, Jim has saved my bacon a few times times over the years!
  8. Go for it Ed! I'll pay a little extra for quality and piece of mind anytime! :) KWS
  9. Hey Will. Trying to find out where you saw the price for $995?? Thanks Kelsey W.
  10. Hello. Do anyone know if the Red One start/stop cable will work on the Epic-X? Thanks Kelsey W.
  11. Hey Janice, long time! I worked on a MOW awhile ago and I used broom ball shoes, they worked great, no slipping at all! A lot safer than skates! :) Cheers, Kelsey W.
  12. You can have the most expensive FF you want, to me it comes down to one thing.......service! The Bartech + M-One gets my vote, Jim's outstanding service is second to none! ;) Cheers, Kelsey W
  13. Hey Keith. I'm pretty sure it means that the batteries are only 90-95% charged. Once they reach 100%, the green light should turn solid. Cheers, Kelsey W.
  14. I have to say, a great product but more important...... great service! Thanks for both!! Keep up the great work Jim! Kelsey W.
  15. EXCELLENT, thanks for the info Paul! It's been driving me crazy for a long time now and I had no idea what was happening with my batts. I even went as far as taking my sled into a tech to have it checked out, but he said he counldn't find anything <_< . So the answer is to just add a diode, too cool! Cheers, Kelsey W.
  16. Hey Shawn. First off, I think you have to ask yourself "why" your client wants to "borrow" your rig. Is it borrow or rent? Does he want to use it himself or does he want someone else to use it? One of my famous lines is it's a very expensive piece of equipment, and I can't afford for something to happen to it or tell him that he's not coverd under your insurance policy, which is probably true anyways. I also agree with Thomas, you have to get use to saying the "no" word....... in a nice way. When you don't want to sound rude to someone, starting with the word "sorry" usually works! Good luck. Cheers, Kelsey W.
  17. Does anyone have a email # or contact # for Marty Joseph?? Thanks Kelsey W.
  18. I have to agree with Eric and Robert, there's a lot better tools for the job. I'm not sure what the regulations are like in the US, but here in Canada they are getting really strict! An engineer has to sign off on any mods to the heli. I would be very surprised if they would allow you to try to hard mount a Steadicam to the heli that's not a "approved" custom design setup ( i.e Tyler or Westcam). And if they do allow you to, you probably don't want to fly with that heli company! I always remember what Jerry Holway told us waaaay back when in his workshop. Plain and simple, don't do it! He said he lost 2 close friends to heli accidents. Good luck.
  19. Hey Ron. It was Hill's docking bracket. I love this docking bracket, it's a pretty slick design. When you think about how much weight we put on that small 1/2 pin, it's kinda scary. What's even more scarier is when we do spin balance and the post is extended out about 12" from the stand! :o I think we all put waaaaaay to much faith in that little pin! Any who, you right, I'm glad I wasn't hurt or my rig. Kelsey W.
  20. I wanted to share my story about docking stands. I've been using a 750 Avenger stand for about 10 years now and it finally happened, the top pin broke! I have to be one of the luckiest guy in the world, the pin broke while I was just going to take it off the docking stand. The rig started to fall and my hands were right there to catch it before it hit the ground. Damn, how's that for luck! I just can't imagine if I was doing a drop time test or dynamic balance what the results would have been! Too scary to think about. The pin broke off about 2" from the top. Has anyone else ever run into this? Cheers, Kelsey "living life large" W. Smith P.S. Lesson learned.......use a heavier stand!!
  21. Around $19,000USD! Ouch!! :o A little too expensive for my taste.
  22. Hey Charles. What worked great for me was being hard mounted to a good old wheel chair. We chased a bunch of 10 yolds around the ring in LM for a commercial, it was great......... Ok. for me it was, but the grip was a tad bit tired at the end of it!! He had some sort of ice cleats over his boots, never slipped once. Good luck! Kelsey W.
  23. Hey Geoff, I'm game! I started Kiteboarding about 1-1/2 years ago and I'm HOOKED HARD!!! This has to be one of the best drugs u can get. I live up in Nova Scotia, Canada, so it's a bit cold this time of year KBing. I want to try snow kiteboarding, but haven't had any snow yet! My wife surprised me for my 40th B-day back in Nov. and we went to Cabarete, DR for a week. It was great, except for only having only 2 days of wind, now that sucked! Needless to say, I didn't get my fix. For the last month I've been looking online for a cheap flight to Florida or somewhere warm to go play. I am assuming you live somewhere warm, LA maybe?? We're hoping to go to Cuba for a week in Mar/Apr. Let me know if your planning any trips!! Cheers, Kelsey W. PS Nice to see that some other crazy ops like kiteboarding!!! I just bought a 12M Crossbow back in Aug. WOW, what great kite, huge air & hang time ! I love my bow...... B)
  24. Has anyone flown Panavision's Genesis HD camera?? I've heard it's a pig! 50+lbs. I have a potential shoot coming up with lots of Steadicam and would like to know what I'm getting myself into! Thanks Kelsey W.
