Hi All, I’m selling my reliable and sturdy Tiffen Steadicam Flyer LE. It is an excellent starter rig for anyone wanting to get into Steadicam and learn the basics and it is capable of taking some decent camera payloads (approx 8,5kg / 20 lbs). Included in the package is: - Flyer Sled (HD-SDI converted) 12/24 Volt - Flyer Arm (up to 25-30 lbs / 11-13 kg) with bag - Flyer Vest - Long Dovetail Plate - (2x) IDX Powercube V-lock batteries (90mAh) - (1x) Dual V-lock battery charger - (2x) BNC cable (0,4m) - (1x) Spare IDX V-Lock battery Plate - (1x) 3-pin Lemo - 4-pin XLR power cable - (1x) Dtap – 4 pin XLR power cable - Monitor Marshall V-LCD70XHB-3GSDI 7-Inch HD-SDI https://marshall-usa.com/discontinued/camera-top-monitors/V-LCD70XHB-3GSDI.php - 5/32” T-Allen Wrench - Docking Bracket (Short) - Docking Bracket (Long) - Carbon Steadicam Stand (one locking section is broken, check pictures) - Soft Carry Case For the record, it left the factory in 2010, was bought by a very careful man who cleaned it every time it went out, then I bought it 2 years ago to train at home. It must have been flown about fifteen times, which explains its condition, even cosmetically, almost new. The gimbal reacts very well, no friction, total fluidity. 3000$ + Shipping (can be worldwide), Located in Paris France Please let me know if you are interested, want more photos o have any questions or would like to make an offer. I’ve shot everything from indie feature films to Red Dwarf, outside broadcasts to Bear Grylls with this & love it, but it’s time to upgrade. The kit is in Salisbury, Wiltshire (Novochok land...) so if you can get here you're welcome to check everything out. Hey everyone, I've become increasingly frustrated at myself for not being able to achieve dynamic balance with a Flyer LE rig. For a while I assumed it was just impossible due to the battery mount being a 'swivelling paddle' rather than something that can slide fore and aft. However I went back and checked out the manual and sure enough, it states that it can be done by rotating that battery 'paddle' up and down. In theory I think I can understand how this is supposed to work however due to the rotating plate every time I shift the batteries 'in or out' and adjust the camera's for-aft, it also affects the bottom-heaviness of the whole rig and seems to throw things way out of whack again. I suppose I am seeking any advice from those of you who have achieved dynamic balance with a Flyer LE. I am losing confidence every time I attempt dynamic balance. Is it worth trying to refine my technique or should I just settle for static balance and wait until I can upgrade to a bigger rig? Thank you in advance for your response. Cheers, Sam.

Anyone have experience swapping battery plates? I have a used Flyer LE which is V mount, I want to make it Gold Mount. I know I could get adapters but I'd like the permanent mount to be gold mount, I'll buy V mount adapters as a secondary option for V mount jobs. I spoke to Terry West and he says the one thing that could be tricky is that there may not be holes drilled for the gold mount pattern on my V mount Flyer. Might need to machine new holes. The wiring is pretty simple. Any experience / advice?

I'm getting ready to purchase either a used Flyer LE or a used Scout. I have flown the Flyer as a rental many times and feel comfortable with it. I have never flown a scout. I understand the Scout is a newer / updated version of the Flyer and may have some improvements over the Flyer and is generally newer and more modern. My concern with the Scout it is designed to only mount one Anton Bauer battery to the bottom of the sled, the two battery design of the Flyer seems to add more counterwieght. I understand the Scout is designed to balance with screw on "Merlin" weights. Perhaps the scout is a no-brainer in terms of just going with a newer system but just wanted to get some advice from people with more experience with both. Sometimes newer is not allways better in my experience. Thanks! In a world full of brushless gimbals, I'm excited to become a Steadicam owner. No gimbal will ever replace the Steadicam concept for long tracking shots.

Hi! I'm in the process of purchasing my first proper rig ( probably an Archer2...see my other thread ;) ) and have been considering getting a small rig to tide me over while I finalise the purchase (my old rig has given up the ghost) and to use for small student/dSLR type shoots where the Archer would be a bit OTT. I'd like a Flyer LE but there does not seem to be many around for sale, but there are a few Flyers knocking about. I was wondering, are the enhancements in the LE worth waiting and paying a bit extra for if it's just going to be a 'B' rig or is the original Flyer close enough to make it not worthwhile, especially if I have an Archer2 as the main rig? Any experiences with either would be great to hear about, thanks! rups

Hello everyone, I have an Flyer LE which is the 12/24 model with a 19lbs weight range. That I have been using for a year and half now. It's has been great and more recently since I have found some steady work to use it with it. The thing I wanted to ask was about rewiring the sled to HD. I have the original monitor that came with the flyer and I've wanted to swap it out for a newer monitor maybe one I can add a yolk to it. Though I know that steadicam has a proitiary 9-pin connector which doesn't allow me to use anything esle.. A few things I'm unsure of is if I rewire the sled would I loss value in the rig or gain it? Also is there way to rewire it so that I can use original flyer monitor incase of a backup? I know many monitors have either a 4 pin xlr like the marshalls and I know the small HD's have a different plug in which to power them. So I figure I could get a cable to power either of them through a p-tap connector. Please correct me if I am wrong. I've been operating for a year and half now and I'm still learning. I was curious if there are anyone else that does rewiring I'm located in NY. I have contact some people though are busy at the moment though it would be great if anyone knew anyone else. Thank you all! Hope everyone has a great 4th of July.

Hello everyone, I was curious to know if anyone may have a hardcase for a Flyer LE. I own a softcase for mine but with the lack of wheels it makes it a pain to carry around. I was curious if anyone had a hardcase they are looking to get rid of or could recommend a decent pelican case with wheels. I'm not entirely sure if the Flyer LE hardcase had wheels or not but I imagine it did. If anyone has any ideas where to find one Let me know. I also sent tiffen a message seeing if they had an extras lying around their warehouse. mperez135@hotmail.com Thanks All! -Matt
