Hello, I was wondering if anyone has recommendations on insurance? I mainly do indie stuff. This is kind of a side note but I also have renter's insurance with Progressive, but they don't cover bigger ticket singular items. Does anyone know of an insurance agency that would cover a full rig? I think Progressive maxes out at $5000 for one item. Any information would be awesome. Thanks!

Hi, all I just got the first job as Steadicam Op. I was really excited but the producer told me this and am really worried now. Here's what he said: "Just so you know, our insurance may not cover you if you are "owner-operator" (because CA state requires you carry your insurance as contractor; thus many production insurances don't cover owner-operators who are contractors). So use your company as a rental company then there's no problem." As a new guy, I haven't set up a company for my Steadicam yet. I'm just wondering if what he's saying is true and I have to use my own insurance or if it's false and there's a way to get it covered. Thanks,- 6 replies

hey yall i am putting together my equipment list to submit to Tonya for another year of insurance. I just added a Preston FIZ kit, all generation 1 stuff. There are a few items that I am having trouble pinning down prices. Let me know what you think the value of these are (for insurance purposes, not for selling on the forum, etc) Hand Unit 1 (microwave) - 500? MicroForce V+F control - 2000? Preston transmitter MDR-1 receiver - 2200? DM-1 motor - 2200? ive done a pretty good amount of searching and am having a hard time finding individual prices. have a good one brett.

Hey, Over the past year or two I have start to buy equipment that I have required for jobs, such as BarTech Focus Unit, On-Camera monitor, redheads, kinos, etc. My question is, Am I expected to insurance the equipment myself, or is it realistic for the production to have some form of insurance that would cover damage and loss to the equipment? Hello, I own my own rig, and am looking for an insurance policy that will cover any lost, damaged or stolen equipment. At the moment I have fractured atlas insurance,which I previously got before the steadicam, which covers production and equipment, but I want to be sure that my equipment is covered and I may be needing to find another provider. On the other boards I've been hearing about W.P Dolle LLC, and was wondering if anyone knows what the price points are and how much monthly one would need to pay (ball park estimate), for insurance.
