  4. Hi everyone! I always love perusing this site and reading about other ops journey and setups so I figured I’d finally give back a little and show my current set up. After years of being a gimbal op and hating how the ArmorMan 2 was on my body, as well as just the restriction of doorways and the absence of a good low-mode option, I finally pulled the trigger and got the SmartSystems Matrix sled with X1 arm…. And boy do I LOVE IT! I get the ergonomics and operability of a Steadicam with the roll control and smooth action of a gimbal. As well as being able to do some pretty crazy moves (with the execption of the trinity low to high jib mode in 1 shot - the tail gets in the way) + being able to switch to low mode in 15 seconds. :) Feel free to use this post to ask any questions of the setup or operation of it. I’m currently on a show that we are rocking the Venice + recorder + k35s + Preston … a 29lb camera package. With counter weights, the total sled comes in at 73lbs It’s a beast but with some workouts, smart operation, and taking care of my body, I’ve gotten exceptionally comfortable with it. We’re regularly doing 15-20 mins walk and talks + 100meter+ moves. It’s not for the faint of heart (or back) but neither is the Trinity or Omega. Happy operating and shooting!
  5. Hi everyone, I'd like to buy my first steadicam, and I was thinking about the Archer 2 steadicam set with g-50 arm, but then I found the Matrix One Ultra bundle from Smartsystem. Does anybody have any experience with the Smartsystem Matrix One bundles? Is it comparable with other professional brands (gpi pro, tiffen etc)? I prefer using it as a normal Steadicam. Ronin 2 compatibility is something like a bonus only. Did somebody try it with the Ronin 2 on it?
  6. Never used on set, just played with it at home for a while. Still in pristine condition, and I'm selling it with 2 additional batteries (4 batteries total). I can take pictures if people need, but it's really the exact same contents as the DJI Ronin 2 Pro kit. Basically the same kit as here: https://store.dji.com/product/ronin-2-professional-combo?vid=31191 Comes with the case and all the gak you see. Asking $7,500, entertaining other offers. Located in LA, would prefer in person transaction but I can also ship domestically.

  8. Hey everyone - I've got a near-mint condition set of PLC Veracity Control Wheels for sale. It currently has a Spektrum transmitter on it (for MoVI) and comes with a cable to connect to a MoVI controller. You can easily change the transmitter to one for Ronin or Maxima. These are the only wheels that currently work with the ARRI Maxima. I bought these from Peter Barta last month for a feature and we ended up using a completely different tool! They have not seen a day on set with me and you can see Pete's previous post for his info too. • Pan and Tilt Veracity Control Wheels • Slice • Spektrum DM8 (for MoVI or any gimbal w/Spektrum receiver) • Spektrum AR7010 • High Gain Antenna • Base Plate • 1x Wheel Connection Cable • 2x P-Tap Power Cables • 2x Spektrum Control Cable • 1x PLC Serial Data Cable • PLC / Pelican Storm Case w/Foam Cost is over $5000 new and has to come from Canada Asking for $3500, located in Los Angeles (You may notice this is slightly more than Peter was asking - this is because I paid to ship them in to the US from him in Australia, this price is 'at cost' for me). Please feel free to ask any questions! Ben

  11. Hard mounting a gimbal to a vehicle usually results in shake footage due to vibrations from the road. This vibration isolator helps remove those vibrations by suspending the gimbal on bent wire rope assemblies. More info can be found here: http://www.stratus-productions.com/cinema-vibration-dampener
