  1. Putting the feelers out there. This arm has treated me very well and is in very good condition. The arm used to belong to Scott Sakamoto, his name is engraved in the arm and I will include custom Magnesium parts that were given to me that are lightweight and will ensure a long life in case you want to switch out hinges and rotate annually etc. Robert Luna serviced it about two years ago, the pin has been shaved so that it fits Pro and Tiffen Socket blocks. Comes with an arm bag, cover sleeves and a 6in arm post. Asking $5000 USD obo
  2. Selling my Steadicam Cart. Has custom shelved casing by A&S Case Co. Did a few mods to the cart for easier sled balancing and to add rigidity. Asking 2250.00 Located in Atlanta. Please send any questions to MarcoNaylorSOC@gmail.com Thanks
  3. G70 Arm in excellent condition, with soft bag. Original owner, purchased from Steadicam in 2012. $12,000 USD or Best Offer Arm is located in Burbank, CA and can be dropped off at Tiffen for inspection.
  4. Hi need help with the swaying issue. I don't know if it's an issue or its just normal I am new to Steadicam and this is my first Steadicam. I tried sony alpha 7sii and also with 5d mark 3 and 4. After performing static and dynamic balance the sled is swaying slightly. I have also tried different drop time from 1 sec to 3 secs its the same for every change that I make. Its a brand new Steadicam. Also when I wear the vest and arm and perform a walk the swaying shows up. Let me know if I am doing something wrong or is it normal for a little sway.
  5. I'm getting ready to purchase either a used Flyer LE or a used Scout. I have flown the Flyer as a rental many times and feel comfortable with it. I have never flown a scout. I understand the Scout is a newer / updated version of the Flyer and may have some improvements over the Flyer and is generally newer and more modern. My concern with the Scout it is designed to only mount one Anton Bauer battery to the bottom of the sled, the two battery design of the Flyer seems to add more counterwieght. I understand the Scout is designed to balance with screw on "Merlin" weights. Perhaps the scout is a no-brainer in terms of just going with a newer system but just wanted to get some advice from people with more experience with both. Sometimes newer is not allways better in my experience. Thanks! In a world full of brushless gimbals, I'm excited to become a Steadicam owner. No gimbal will ever replace the Steadicam concept for long tracking shots.
  6. Sled is used and in good operating condition. This sled was just fully serviced at Tiffen (it literally came back today). Ultra 2c sled Tilt stage Motorized top stage Ultra Highbright Monitor with built-in level (panel was completely replaced at Tiffen about 2 years ago). Accessories: - Hill docking bracket - 2 x plates (two long, one short) - bunch of power cables to camera (among them arri alexa & 12V 4 pin XLR) 2 x monitor power / SD cable - gimbal remote charging cable - thermodyne transport case (one latch is broken – thanks Delta) Sled is currently cabled for dual 12V and hot swap (can easily be changed to 24V / 12V) The monitor post clamp was re-inforced with a weld to prevent vibrations The monitor rod clamp was replaced for a better titanium alternative (original kept breaking). This is a very fine sled with all the bells and whistles. Selling because I just dropped $60k on a Trinity rig. Sled can be checked out in New York. Price: $12,500 I wish I would not have to do this – but here are the rules of engagement: - if your message starts with ‘give me disount’ I will ignore you - if you message me 5 times within an hour I will ignore you - buyer pays for shipping - payment is due via bank wire transfer within three business days - I will not pay for your banking fees High Res pictures are here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xkqetiscpj5qh67/AACojfXb7fC8OHw4jAc5USz6a?dl=0

  8. Hey everyone, Been using the Steadicam Pilot for a few years, on a very occasional basis and I'm generally very happy with it. Tempted to upgrade to the Aero 30 as I'm now mostly flying Red cameras, but in the meantime the one thing I'd like to look at is upgrading the crappy Merlin/Pilot vest with the plastic chestpiece of doom. Any recommendations for something a little sturdier, not too expensive and that can easily take the pilot arm? Thanks all.
  9. Perfect operating condition. Arm was upgraded from g70 in 2013. Two arm posts transport sleeve I also have two arm posts to use this with a Pro / Artemis sled (extra charge). Price: $8500 Arm is located in New York City (Westchester to be precise) and can be inspected upon request.

  14. Take the camera and RunAs happened to me quiet a few times lately (and I have the feeling it will keep on happening) I found myself in one of the shooting situation I dislike the most, which is when more or less suddenly the 1st AD tells me :”Put in that van everything you’re gonna need for the rest of the day, we’re moving to a new location which is an hour drive from here. Don’t forget anything, be fast and please… keep it simple!”. Of course I’m not speaking about situation where this was in the callsheet, in that case it is pretty easy to be prepared. I’m speaking of those times when a sudden change comes up (rain on location, new shooting plan, talent’s agenda variations and an awful long etc.) and we need to improvise, which is from my point of view one of the most important skills of a good AC. I’m pretty sure that some of you came up quickly with an answer like :”Ask the DoP!” and even though it is logic, if life was so easy everybody could be a top notch assistant cameraman. Normally, when this kind of situations happens, there has been an important change in the order of the shots, so is pretty likely that the DoP has his hands full speaking with the gaffer and/or the best boy about the new situation, discussing with the director all kind of lighting issues etc. Of course the camera crew also will need confirmation from him, but is gonna be... 17. This post no is appropriate to this section but the forum Steadicam yet hasn't a lens section and i think that is necessary to the issue in question. Fujinon Cine Cabrio Zooms: More than a Convertible, an Off-Road. ...The first big pro is the weight and the size: ENG style operators will still probably find them a little heavy, but we have to keep in mind that there is no other cine-style zoom lighter than 3 kg with such a focal range. In fact, they are a little heavier than the Angenieux DP style, but the focal range is much wider, while the Angenieux that has the closest one (19.5-94mm) weights about 6 kg and has a front diameter of 136mm, wich requieres a 6x6 mattebox This takes us into the second big pro of these glasses: focal range. Even though I prefer prime lenses, I can think about quite a few number of situation where this zoom would be the best choice. For instance, being that light can be mounted on a steadicam and the operator would need to balance the camera just once for the whole day, but having at his disposal a full set of focal distances. Speaking of wich, another very interesting thing about this zooms for steadicam operators is that the servo can control the tree rings, so with the help of a dedicated cable it is possible to connect it with the brain of a FIZ system and control the 3 axis wirelessly without the need to attach any motors, which is much better for weight and balance.... 19. Hello All! As an OP on the newer side, I have been trying to figure out what rates are appropriate to charge rental/operating. I have read a ton of forums and there are a bunch of mixed answers. I also see that it is a topic that we are not supposed to disclose amounts and rates. However there is a great deal of fuss that goes on about steady-newbies and Lowballing rates. While I personally do not want to lowball my rates on accident where it effects other ops, I also feel the need to respect the experienced ops out there, who have many more years of experience than I do, and not charge the rates they/you do. That all being said, does anyone have good input on what is appropriate and what lowballing is? I understand we can't discuss numbers, however I don't understand what a "lowball rate" or a Disrespectful high rate even is because theres no definition, guideline, or range. I have seen some people say you have to kinda fish around and see what rates you can charge, However if you're relying on producers to tell you what you're worth, I feel like thats cutting yourself short and in essence, lowballing. For some context lets say you own a 50k "big-rig" with ff, transmitter, and accessories. As a Side Note: I also see that location, and equipment can shape rates. However, I've seen where years or experience doesn't affect the price sometimes for example Ive seen an OP going on 26years with an 8hr rate that is the same as a guy who's going on 2years. If anyone has any input please feel free to post responses or PM me. Thank you for your time!
  20. Hello everyone, I recently purchased a Canon 750D which I use to film short films. I'm relatively new to the world of DSLR's and noticed that my camera was very shaky, to the point where some footage is almost unusable despite the fact I used a shoulder rig. I looked into getting a gimbal after seeing how effective my friends one was, but even though my camera and lens combination was in the weight limit, I couldn't get the gimbal to balance and had to send it back. I think I couldn't balance it because my lens was weighed more than my camera. My camera weighs 604g and my lens of choice (a Sigma 18-35mm) weighs 842g. I spent more than £600 on that lens recently and love the look of it, so I don't really want to change it. Does anyone know a combination that would work with my Canon 750D and Sigma lens? I was looking at a Zhiyun Crane 3-Axis Gimbal but am hesitant about spending so much money in case I can't get a refund. Also, can someone tell me if I need a gimbal, could a steadicam or glidecam act as a cheaper alternative? All I'm really looking for is a perfectly smooth image, I'd rather have something portable and handheld too. Thank you!
  21. SequenceShoot: The great Orson Welles used to say :”A long-playing full shot is what always separates the men from the boys. Anybody can make movies with a pair of scissors and a two-inch lens.” And as usual, the master was totally right. Thanks to movies such as “Children of men”, “Gravity” or “Birdman” (and a lot more) the sequence shots are once again very popular and with the help of digital cinema that removed several limitations we previously had (such for instance the time limitation of 10 minutes due to the size of 35mm film magazines), this kind of shot has become RELATIVELY easier (or at least possible even for small and medium-sized productions). The capital letters are on purpose, since shooting a one-shot sequence is still an extremely complicated thing to do, the longer the harder. Last week, a friend and DoP offered me the chance to pull focus on a short movie which would be shot on a single shot of approximately 1 minutes length, in a studio with 9 actors. The camera would be the whole time on a J.L. Fisher dolly with rubber wheels to not disturb the actors with tracks and... More info here. Fabio Giolitti - Focus Puller.
  22. Hi All, I had this vest up for sale earlier, with some damaged backing -- after further thought, I decided to get it repaired before selling it to anyone. Hopefully the mods are okay with this old vest in a new post... In any case, here's an Ultra 2 vest in used, but good condition. With all new backing! (pics included) No cracks or fissures in the back/shoulder strap plastic! Fully functional, and works as intended. It's got scuff marks, and wear from normal use, but the ratchet straps are still flexible and toothy, velcro is sticky and all the metal hardware is in good shape. There's one modification I made: I have it so that you don't have to unclip the crossback strap on the left side to exit the vest. Other than that, this is a standard Ultra 2 vest. $2750 (USD) OBO. Buyer to pay shipping, VAT, etc (if applicable). Paypal preferred (I ship to confirmed addresses only) Let me know if you have any questions! Beau

  24. Arri WCU-4 & UMC-4: lens Mapping | Ideal for steadicam I don’t know what you guys think on this matter, but if you want my two cents it is crucial to be fast when you change the lens while using remote control systems, in situations such as steadicam, cranes or simply hand held when the cam operator wants to be more free than with a standard follow focus. Previously I used to prepare pre-marked rings during camera prep and switch them while the motor were calibrating, but I always dreamed about a more precise and reliable system. A couple of months ago, a local distributor of ARRI products hosted a workshop on how to map lenses on the new WCU4, but sadly I wasn’t in town so I couldn’t attend. So I thought that I could try by myself with nobody explaining me how to do it. This way I could test how really easy and fast it is and if it is well designed enough to be “dumb proof”. As usual I need to thank guys at Camaleon Cine who offered me the possibility to have an Alexa XT Plus, an Amira, one set of Zeiss Standard Prime T2.1 and one of Cooke S4i T2, plus a Fujinon Cine Cabrio 19-90mm T2.9. Aside of that a WCU4 with CLM4 motors and a UMC4. The choice of the lenses and of the cameras was due to the fact that I wanted to test the method with and without lenses with LDS system and...
