  1. As new, never used Steadicam Zephyr system. If you're here, you likely know what you're looking at and what this is so I'll keep it short. This is the complete package, current Steadicam Zephyr system, which can fly a total net camera load of 23 lbs (Arri Alexa mini is no problem. Ursa, FX6, and RED rigs also a breeze. This is the top-end rig in Steadicam's mid-range kits, and perfect for the commercial operator starting out, or someone who wants to keep their gear slim, yet professional and definitely recognizable. This is a true STEADICAM system, and includes everything as sold retail; Zephyr Sled with 7" HD Ultrabright Steadicam Monitor, A-30 Zephyr Arm, Zephyr Vest. Optional v-lock battery mount included. The only thing I've misplaced is the manual DVD and BNC to RCA adaptor plugs, both of which disappeared during a recent house move. Otherwise, everything as in the following link is included in the Steadicam flight case: https://tiffen.com/products/steadicam-zephyr-camera-stabilizer-with-7-hd-monitor?variant=29434095206442 This was bought to be part of a specialty camera equipment rental house's inventory, however, was ultimately found to be an unreasonable rental option to get good use out of for most clients, due to the skill required to actually operate this rig. As a result, it was NEVER rented out or used at all. In fact, the plastic protective film is still on the monitor and the pictures will show not a mark on the dovetail. The rig was taken out and tried on, with maybe a DSLR rig attached a few times to test everything is working, but that is about it. It has otherwise sat in storage within its flight case for a little over 2 years. There are a couple of small scratches on the Vest and Arm that look like small rub marks, which have been there from the store, I imagine these are just from the heavy parts moving around a bit during shipping? But are only visible on close inspection. Otherwise, this kit is as new and available at a steep discount. This kit is retailing for $9995 USD brand new, and $13, 899 CAD brand new retail BEFORE taxes and shipping. And even more directly from Tiffen! Save a few K buying an as new, never flown rig! Available for meet and pickup in and around the Greater Toronto Area or the London and Western Ontario Region. Willing to meet US buyers at the Buffalo NY or Port Huron MI border ports. Also willing to ship within Canada and the US ONLY and ONLY after some satisfactory checks and balances for both parties. Asking $11, 000 CAD, or $8000 USD or best REASONABLE offer. I'm willing to work with a serious, motivated buyer, but please be reasonable :) Contact for more information.
  2. Clearing out the shelves before I move. Check my other posts for stuff you might need. Most of it is backup gear/aks, lightly used over the last 5yrs. Make me offers! Everything available separately. Most of these cables have the smaller 3-pin LEMO FGG.0B for the sled side, like on Archer2, Clipper, Shadow, Ultra2, M-1, etc. Happy to send you a closeup image of the pins on both ends, if you have any doubt before buying. Half are Tiffen cables, the other half are from MediaBlackout or TerryWest. Some are "legacy" cables that might still have an application, otherwise we'll just have to laugh about planned obsolescence. If you know about cross compatibility of the camera cables, please comment below. Here they are in no particular order: LEMO 3-pin "Ultra to Alexa 24V" with 90˚ connector at the camera, 24" length. LEMO 3-pin to Alexa 24V power with straight connector at the camera, 36" length. LEMO 3-pin to Paralynx LEMO 2-pin, 24" length. IIRC, this can also be used for other TX like Teradek, etc. but we'll want to check polarity. LEMO-3 to XLR-4 ENG camera power, 24" length. LEMO-3 to "RED epic/scarlet" 12V LEMO-6, 24" length. LEMO-3 to "REDcam 12V" LEMO-6, 20" length. I think this is for the original RED ONE! Came with my Archer2, and has only been used with Tiffen's in-house RED body for demos. LEMO-3 to LEMO-2 BFD receiver power, 7" super-shortie for mounting the receiver under the nosebox. LEMO-3 to AB p-tap quad, 18" length. So useful for all those aks. LEMO-3 custom LED voltmeter. Add voltage readout to your 12V line and stash the display anywhere with velcro. Made this myself after wrapping a sled for rain and couldn't see power meter. P-tap 12V input to TVlogic mini-XLR-4 36" length. Old backup cable for my TVlogic monitor, in case monitor cable failed. If anyone is interested, make reasonable offers. Everything works great, I just don't use this stuff. Located in Los Angeles, local preferred, or buyer pays shipping. PM me on the site, or for faster response, email: red288GTO@gmail.com -Evan

  12. Hello, although I´ve been working very successfully with my Glidecam HD2000 (FS700+7Q), I´ve really big problems starting with my Alexa on my new Zephyr rig. Actual state: The down rigged Alexa Classic is about 16-17lbs (7-9kg). I use 2 V-Mounts for sled weights with the optional small dove tail, static and dynamic balance is very well, drop time about 2 sec. The zephyr arm was changed to the new A30 from Tiffen while purchase, the vest fits perfectly, no shoulder space here. Unfortunately there are no Steadicam workshops in middle europe, so I haven't visited one. I already ordered the operators handbook, I watched all YT tutorials (Ted Churchill is a god!) out there and I read lots of topics in here. I know, yes, there is lot of practice needed and can´t be learned in weeks, but with my huge experience with the Glidecam, the basic sled balancing is not the point. I am an absolutely newbie working with an vest+arm! My problem is now: The shots are not floating, nearly every step is visible, by walking normally, missionary. No vibrations here, the post is as short as possible for both balancing types successfully done. I use the arm goofy now, but I tried it regular as well with no improvement in the result. So, some basic questions concerning the arm are still open, maybe one of you can help me here fixing my problem: 1) I know that the gimbal hand should touch the post very slightly, so I do. (like i did on the Glidecam) But what about the other hand? Should it touch the gimbal handle also just slightly or is it better to hold it more stronger, to avoid transferring steps to the sled? 2) All the basic sled stabilization should be done by my body. So if I walked down a line (missionary), touching the gimbal+handle with my hands is not necessary - is that right? The hands are just for directing and lifting the sled, but only if needed? 3) The Zephyr operation manual tells me to setup the arms about 5-10° up horizontal. But what about the weight with e.g. Alexa? Would it be better if I set the arm down for less stiffness with the heavy Alexa? What is the best arm setup for slow following/walking shots? 4) The Zephyr operation manual tells me to set the side crews on the arm socket differently on the top and bottom. If I just turned the bottom screw all the way in and leave the upper screw a bit out, is the arm&sled&cam still secure? What about the rollers, how should they be set for using an Alexa/16lbs? All in or out? (Maybe there is an experienced operator, who can tell me this in german, the operation manual is really written dizzily in this point...) and: 5) If somebody knows: Is there a hot swap available with the Alexa by using the small dove tail (V-Mount)? If yes, how to plug?? What is the 1/2 switch for? Thanks a lot for any help, I´d really appreciate. I don´t know any operator (with a similar rig) in my area for asking directly. I swear I practise every free minute, but these points above really make me mad... Cheers, Paul Austria

  17. Hey folks, I was hoping the wider community could help me with a problem I had on a short at the weekend. I prepped a job on Friday, Ultra 2 sled, Ultrabrite2 monitor and an Alexa, it was an older Alexa with max internal recording capacity of ProRes 4444HD. The image on the UB2 was perfect during prep no problems. Mon out - sled - UB2 - all good. The cameraman wanted to record higher resolution via an external recorder/monitor - Odyssey 7Q. This all seemed fine, he just needed to buy a license from Convergent-Design to allow him to access this. All that was required from the camera was a single BnC (Rec Out) to the recorder and this would achieve 2.8K image recorded on the Odyssey's SSD. However I didn't get the chance to test the camera again until we were on set the next morning. With the same cable configuration as in prep my image on the UB2 was now distorted, horizontal split screen two thirds up the screen, jittery/ staggered image. I am not a tech wizard but I imagine the problem had something to do with the external recorder being up-resed, affecting the Mon Out port. Has anyone experienced anything like this in the past? Or does anyone know of or can suggest a way around it? I have emailed Tiffen with this query and with the same questions. However any suggestions would be welcomed. Many thanks, Greg

  22. Has anyone else had problems powering the BDR through the RS port on the Alexa? We were using the M1, and Anton Bauer batts on the back. It was stopping halfway through the calibration cycle, and just clicking. I backed the torque all the way down, and it would finish calibration, but then it would fail (pause for 5-10sec, then start recalibrating) when I tried to make a moderately fast focus move. The lenses were not stiff. We ended up using a D-tap from an external battery to power the BDR, and all worked fine. Just wondering if others had this problem? We didn't test it with 24v.
  23. I'm selling my Proline Raven stabilizer. I bought this and did some practice with it but never used it on a production. It's essentially been sitting in the studio.
