Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted June 9, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 9, 2014 Yes, Greg had 3 prototypes with him. Not the final version yet. Promising though.
Premium Members Eric Fletcher S.O.C. Posted June 9, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 9, 2014 Wasn't this the monitor he promised to ship in October? And what about price? The PDL is $12K (yes TWELVE THOUSAND US DOLLARS)
Premium Members brooksrobinson Posted June 9, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 9, 2014 Eric, I can't speak to the cost of the PDL (which has nothing at all to do with the topic of this thread - XCS monitor?), but in reference to a missed October release, I'd much rather have him take the extra time to get the monitor correct out of the box, than release an overly-hyped version that is filled with known flaws to an unsuspecting client base. His monitor will probably come with a manual too. Brooks
Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted June 9, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 9, 2014 With pretty much anything Greg does, the HD-PDL and TB-7 will be a world class products, once officially released. Cost is relative, as we in the steadicam community well know. Why is the PRO arm costing 20plus thousand dollars? Because people are willing to pay that price, and rightfully so. The market will decide and there is certainly no comparable product to the HD-PDL anywhere in the world at this point. All I know is after my recent monitor "experience", I demand working products and customer service from now on out...
Premium Members Christopher Moone Posted June 9, 2014 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted June 9, 2014 This post is supposed to be about the monitor itself, it has already been hyped and I, along with many others, am curious to hear some first hand impressions. I know people have seen it, what did they think?
Premium Members Afton Grant Posted June 9, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 9, 2014 I don't remember any promises at all. I've been communicating with him for a while now about these projects and never once did he promise any date.

Premium Members Afton Grant Posted June 9, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 9, 2014 Not exactly a promise, but I'll stand corrected if that makes you feel better. We're not going to start throwing stones over missed delivery dates are we?

Premium Members Libor Cevelik Posted June 9, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 9, 2014 Greg's quote was "The monitor is called the XCS TB7 and it will be out before years end." It will is a promise and where in this is "Wasn't this the monitor he promised to ship in October?" I thought year ends in December.
Premium Members Jens Piotrowski SOC Posted June 9, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 9, 2014 I'm sorry, but so what? I would be more concerned if it would be released without it being finished. And here is the best part of all: nobody is forcing anybody to buy his products or wait for them.
