Premium Members Thomas English Posted August 25, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 25, 2014 I want to buy a Wagner WXB. I have been practising the Steadicam thingy for a long time and those completely side tracking shots with horizontals all over the frame that require dead stops are very very hard. Also those hard fast tilt ups over 75degrees into a situation that gives away your level. People don't seem to notice but I am often not too pleased with my results. I would buy a Wagner tomorrow for those exact Situations. Can it fit onto an AB plate?
Premium Members Marc R. Berger Posted August 26, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 26, 2014 Hi Thomas, I´m happy to see that a top notch operator like you is interested in this too. It hopefully makes the process to bring such solution to the market a bit faster... I´m a bit afraid that the WXB will be forgot beside the gimbal hype. Premium Members James Davis Posted August 26, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 26, 2014 It's fantastic, i've tried the prototype earlier in the year, great piece of kit, perfect for the exact scenarios you are suggesting, would probably work really well with Antlers in windy conditions too where there aren't enough crew to handle windkillers properly or there just isn't the space or circumstances to make them work very well. Also not quite sure how it does it but it makes perfect whip pans an absolute piece of piss.

How so? I can see it correcting for improper dynamic balance, but how does it help you land the proper frame?
Premium Members steve wagner Posted October 21, 2014 Premium Members Report Share Posted October 21, 2014 Its hard to describe without trying one. In essence it makes your rig feel extra bottom heavy but only around the roll axis with option of damping, you may set the physical rig for very long drop time so tilts are easier to hold, but roll axis still re-centers like a short drop time rig. Uses same level sensing means as Wagner level, so fairly immune to whip pans, sudden moves, etc. If you set it to max gain and rate feedback the horizon basically takes care of itself while you concentrate on pan and tilt framing. Yes of course you are cheating compared to an all passive rig, but you still have way more operator input and expression compared to Movi type gimbals.
