Stan Marcinkowski
Hi I need to buy plate for Alexa. There a lots of them on the market, but which is most universal. I hear there are different kind of Alexa (Plus and Studio). Cam-tec makes plate for Sony V-mount and Alexa in one model. Could you help me to choose best option please? Brad Smith
I've got the Jerry Hill plate. It's versatile because if you remove the spacer at the rear it can take Sony Vct14 base cameras as well. (provided you can screw into the front in the centre of the v wedge) http://steadimoves.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Alexa-Plate.jpg
Premium Members Matthias Biber Posted May 5, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 5, 2016 The alexa bracket from www.cam-jam.de works with the Alexa and Sony style ENG cameras. No need to buy additional parts like V-lock plate. Also it is designed to work with your existing dovetail plate. So you won´t get problems with different tolerances from different manufacturers. http://cam-jam.de/alexa.html
Premium Members rupert peddle Posted May 5, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 5, 2016 I have the cam-tec plate which has a sony eng type interface and integrates a dovetail into the plate so it attached directly to the top stage minimising weight and height. I also got one of the cam-tec wedge adapters in case the camera doesn't come with it's own ;) Absolutely perfect for quick swaps on and off as everything remains in place so no need to rebalance. It's a well made, solid plate and am very happy with it, it is one of the more expensive options though ;) Here's the one for the narrow Tiffen dovetails (like my Clipper): https://shop.strato.de/epages/61417979.sf/en_US/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61417979/Products/%22ARRI%20Alexa%20Sony%20V-Mount%20Clipper%22 And the one for standard larger dovetails: https://shop.strato.de/epages/61417979.sf/en_US/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61417979/Products/%22Sony%20V-mount%20Plate%22 rups
Premium Members Alan Rencher Posted May 5, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 5, 2016 Peter Abraham makes a plate called the Zalex Long Plate. Find him her on the forum or lookup Zalex on Facebook.

Premium Members Mike Germond SOC Posted May 6, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 6, 2016 This one works great: http://www.cinematicprecision.com/steadicam-operator-accessories-#/id/i4103160 Best option IMO. And get yourself a BPA-1 to go with it. It's a really long universal plate for other cameras and a solid mount for the Alexa too. Low profile and rigid. Premium Members Jess Haas SOC Posted May 6, 2016 Premium Members Report Share Posted May 6, 2016 BPA-2 is the newer version on the BPA-1. Has an extra set of threaded holes down the middle where they should have been in the first place.
