Premium Members Charles Papert Posted June 10, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 10, 2008 Tony from IDX brought the latest 24p-capable version of the Camwave to my current show but alas, it turns out that the Genesis monitor output is 1080/24psf (progressive segmented frame) which is a different protocol than they had tested their unit with, so they are working on that now. I'm keeping in close touch with Tony so I will pass on info as I get it.
Wolf Seeberg
SD at 23.9 1080works HD SDI at 23.9 1080 does not work as of Aug 2008 recovery after distance loss purely electronic is prob 10 sec... it takes more seconds to walk the Rx back into range tested with complex dynamic test signal and engineering monitor and the pix "looked" totally uncompressed or bit reduced - amazing works well with handheld SD monitor walking around cost list $ 6000.00 several available now comes with "V" mount license free therefore only 50 yard range outside - we got double that on a chickenwire stage. 4 receivers are said to be possible. price??? there is a demo in Glendale on Wed in LA at TV PRo gear - they sell them too http://www.tvprogear.com/pages/idxday.aspx we are dealers, will post on my site soon Wolf 310 822-4973 wolfvid.com
Premium Members Charles Papert Posted August 4, 2008 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 4, 2008 According to the IDX rep it may be until next year before a 24psf compatible model emerges, no word on whether current units will be upgradeable. This is certainly a shame but it does give Boxx some time to get their unit going as well, which has the added convenience of accommodating composite SD video (and a more compact transmitter, although the antennas are external and generously sized). Looks like 2008 is not going to be the year for affordable wireless HD transmission for narrative work, but 2009 looks promising.
