I'm Kevin, a Camjo from the Netherlands and just started experimenting with a steadycam. I have a smal ( kind a not logical against all physics problem ) I ballanced my camera and when i hold the pole vertical i have a droptime of aprox 2,5 sec, thats great i think and the cam holds stabel almost directly. The strange part is when i turn the cam 180 degrees (exactly the same but then now lens points north instead of south) suddenly it is not ballanced anymore !?!? it tilts up a little. Like Eric says, possible a concentric problem with the Gimbal. With other rigs like the Glidecam in the past, these problems were fixed with a use of a extra shim between the yoke and the post. Dave Gish Posted February 2, 2009 Report Share Posted February 2, 2009 Hi Kevin, This problem is not unusual, especially with the less expensive rigs. A friend has a Flycam, and he has this same issue. A few of the Steadicam Pilot rigs have also had this issue. The problem has something to do with the gimbal being out of alignment. It has to be fixed by the manufacturer. With the Steadicam Pilot, you send it back to Steadicam and they fix it for free, plus pay shipping both ways. Anyone any idea? thanks Kevin Hi Kevin, I tend to agree with the rest of us in as much as the gimbal is the only responsible part in this. It just happened last Monday at the beginning of the 3rd day of a shoot. I'll see if I can replicate it again and then talk to Tiffen. Thanks!
