Thanks for posting the photos Eric

They have models and adapter for most phones and Flip type video cam

Has fore and aft balance adjustment knobs. The show prototypes are built with a regular and very loose pan bearing until they see what people like.

You can fly like the Merlin two handed or use your thumb on the gimbal.

Only had a few minutes since I'm working for AMEX I'm their booth.

I reckon its also quite good for marketing for brand awareness having a product like this released and discussed on so many other forums other than our tight niche. Lets face it, it will get into all the Gadget Magazines etc etc. Viral marketing innit and why not? They may even sell some especially as these cameras get better.

Develop products for the future not the past. Moores law implies that if any technology company stands still its market share will halve every 18 months. Steadicam and silicon are easy bedfellows.

I might just get depressed now and finally accept a 7D Steadicam job. Nightmare......

Not to hijack (because the Smoothee is more than worth talking about) but I'm in the midst of a 3 week all-Canon DSLR corporate shoot and I'm having a blast. Did plenty of extended Steadicam shots today and never felt a thing. Footage is looking great. And yes, I'm getting a good rate.

Sure, there are plenty of things to learn, things to love and things to hate. The moire/aliasing on these cameras sucks (had to dial down a hairlight until it stopped making the hair moire--weird). Controls are in strange places. Ergonomics are challenging. You need all sorts of problem-solving bits and pieces and add-ons. But bottom line is we are making great images with a small crew and equipment package with a whole new kind of freedom.

Back to Smoothee. Looks like fun although I'm pretty bad with a Merlin with a much lighter camera than this on it, so I'm intrigued to see what this feels like. Surprised this doesn't appear to fold up...?

I've always found the Merlin crazy to use or try to use but I could see today that after an hour or so with the Smoothee (correct spelling) you'd be able to have some fun with it. The two times I went to the Tiffen booth people were all over the Smoothee testing it out.

Of the prototypes they had there, I like the one with a tighter pan rather than the super slick pan which seemed to sensitive to me. However, that is why they have it there to get feedback.

Also, that round disk in the middle where the rods curve is moved along the rods to get the rig roughly balanced and adjust "drop time" such that it is.
