Premium Members Nic Owens Posted April 16, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 16, 2011 Hey everyone, Hope this is the right forum for this kind of thing. I worked on a clip a month or so ago for a new Sydney band, Wim. The director was Daniel Askill and the dp was Stefan Duscio. It was an interesting gig as it was a 3 minute steadicam through the Royal National Park in southern Sydney. Myself, the focus puller and grip turned up, set up, and waited to see what we were in for. Wim - See You Hurry Wasn't expecting that! It really was a great fun shoot and Stefan is an outstanding DOP. No Ari on this one, is he in camera? Hey Joel, totally off topic, I checked out your website ( really well thought out - your blog is great. I keep going further back to read all your steadicam exploits!), and we've got the same rig. I'm just wondering if you ever have any issues with making the post really short? Whenever I'm packing it back into it's case, so as to make it fit, there's often pressure between the stages and I really have to force it. I don't know if this is a common thing or if there's some other underlying problem with the inside of my rig. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers, Nic

Premium Members Joel San Juan Posted April 17, 2011 Premium Members Report Share Posted April 17, 2011 Hey Nic, Thanks for the kind words! Ari Train was the AC who Stefan brought up to Singapore for the shoot :) Are you using a 4 stage post? If you are then maybe its a good idea to take out the post cable and make sure its not counter coiled at any part of it. What could have happened is that when you got your post extended all the way out, you could have turned the jbox or bottom sled too many rounds in the different direction of the post cable coil. Hence when you got it back in the compact mode, you are unable to shorten the sled all the way. So take it out, make sure its coiled nicely, and that should do the trick :) By pressure between the stages do you mean the case is too tight for the sled to fit into? Let me know, thanks :) Best Joel
Premium Members Nic Owens Posted April 17, 2011 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted April 17, 2011 Thanks Joel, Problem solved! Did as you recommended and that did the trick. Fits In the sled case easy now. Thanks again, Nic
