Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted June 16, 2012 Moderators Report Share Posted June 16, 2012 Guys, the gray springs were designed so that the new Atlas arm could get up to 45 pounds and for the Titan arm to get a little extra umph when mixed with Black springs for 3D jobs. Four gray springs is not a realistic scenario!

Premium Members Robert Starling SOC Posted June 17, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 17, 2012 I mixed a black and a blue last week on the Atlas and it completely covered that little gap between 22-26 lbs plus there's some averaging in these numbers to balance manufacturers specs versus operator ambitions/expectations. The problem is test flying the Atlas is gonna make you want one! Robert
Premium Members John Perry SOC Posted June 20, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 20, 2012 The problem is test flying the Atlas is gonna make you want one! Robert Robert, that's exactly what happened to me. I didn't even need another arm, but after using it on that first show I had to have one. The extra vertical range, the slimness, being able to use the grey springs in my other arms...all selling points. At around $11k I couldn't believe how reasonable the price was. People should buy them up before Jack realizes the price is too low ;)

Premium Members William Demeritt Posted June 23, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 23, 2012 I just priced this out: PRO Atlas Arm with 2 black, 2 grey: $13,200 PRO Vest: $5,200 PRO modular sled in most affordable configuration (fixed centerpost, Gen IV battery, DB2, no bells gimbal grip): $15,903 PRICE OUT THE DOOR for a sled, arm and vest with 50lbs lifting capacity: $34,303. And you can upgrade individual components as needed to the larger sled, including the arm and sled? Great price!
Premium Members Brian Freesh Posted June 23, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 23, 2012 PRO Atlas Arm with 2 black, 2 blue: $13,200 2 Black and 2 Gray you mean! 45lb technically, but who's counting? ;P I agree, great price for a great sled/arm/vest combo. Well done Jack and everyone at GPI!

And you can upgrade individual components as needed to the larger sled, including the arm and sled? Great price! The "Why would you buy anything else" question comes to mind Here is something else to seriously consider. The Tiffen Products are a closed eco-system, you can't upgrade the sleds, they use non-standard center post dimensions, non stand arm post dimensions and non standard accessory wiring and plugs (Hirose? Really?) With a Pro-Standard system you are open to PRO, XCS, Schatler and a host of others Few other things to think about, what are the rigs in your market and what are the best used values that will allow you to GROW. In Feature films and Television production (especially in LA) the PRO Standard is what you see most of. Just something to think about when buying a rig
Premium Members Rob Vuona SOC Posted June 24, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted June 24, 2012 " Television production (especially in LA) the PRO Standard is what you see most of." All good points Eric accept in the Live TV world, there are no Pro or Sachtler Sleds and all Tiffen and XCS. Just to clarify But it certainly looks like I am getting two Grey Springs to round out my collection and that should allow me to only fly two canisters for most of my work, good call Eric telling me to wait for the new news coming out of Pro

Mariano Costa
Damn...and I was already set on an Archer2...just waiting for the Exovest...Pro is seductive...:D I believe I read somewhere that the Atlas weighs more than the Titan - is that true?
