Premium Members chris bangma Posted August 30, 2012 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted August 30, 2012 CRT had its day, and was the best for a long time, but technology has advanced. The military is using LCD for all of its displays now, so mil spec CRTs are becoming endangered. OLED is promising, but the technology isnt quite there yet. The OLED blacks are extremely good, but the max you will see for brightness is around 600 nit, and pushing them this hard drastically reduces the life of the panel. Many of the new LCD screens have 88 degree viewing, from all sides, so they are as good as a crt for viewing angles. There are also some interesting developments which are about 6 months out, which will push the LCD technology even further.
Premium Members Emanuele Chiari Posted August 31, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted August 31, 2012 I saw on filmstuff website that the gen 2 mon has 1500 nit instead of the 1600 nit of gen 1..... Premium Members chris bangma Posted August 31, 2012 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted August 31, 2012 The 6.5" Gen1 has 1600 nit. The 7" has 1500, but we may push it to 1600 with the Gen2.
Moderators Alec Jarnagin SOC Posted August 31, 2012 Moderators Report Share Posted August 31, 2012 I currently use the 7". Never needed to turn the brightness up all the way. Brightness is only one factor; coating is another.

Premium Members Rich Cottrell Posted September 3, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 3, 2012 Looking at the film-stuff site I do NOT see any mention of the Tally light. Was this nixed from the final design or is it still an option?
Premium Members chris bangma Posted September 3, 2012 Author Premium Members Report Share Posted September 3, 2012 Tally light is built in on the Gen2. Forgot to add it to the description on the website... Looking at the film-stuff site I do NOT see any mention of the Tally light. Was this nixed from the final design or is it still an option? Premium Members RonBaldwin Posted September 3, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 3, 2012 I saw a prototype at Cinegear...it looked really cool. I had my 7" Nebtek with me to compare size and weight -- it is very similar for those of you familiar with that monitor so you can have an idea on it's rough size/weight. I am looking forward to seeing one in person. Ron
Premium Members Thomas English Posted September 4, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 4, 2012 When can we see pictures? Will we see photos before the first batch are made?
Premium Members Thomas English Posted September 4, 2012 Premium Members Report Share Posted September 4, 2012 We can supply with an AB mount, weight back, or v lock. The bracket you have obviously nicely balances in the middle of the monitor. Would it be possible to make an offset bracket so one could rotate the monitor with a battery on the back and the CG is central? Is there a voltmeter in there? I love my transvideo voltage readout. As I get to know the setup I can tell that batteries are going down just by glancing at the volts.
